Chapter Seventy-Four: The Spirit Beast Scroll Unleashes Its Power

The first is the Haotian Cave in the secret realm of Kunlun, within which the primordial karmic fire guards the physical body left behind by the ancestral god after his transformation.
Next is White Deer Valley, where the malevolent bird Bifang roams year-round; upon its body burns the innate karmic fire, capable of incinerating the heavens and earth with its might.
Lastly, among the Four Great Divine Beasts stands the Vermilion Bird, a creature born of fire at the dawn of creation, its body suffused with primordial karmic flames of astonishing power.
For someone as experienced as Heaven Burner, how could he not know the terror of the innate karmic fire?
The most dreadful aspect of this fire is not its ability to instantly consume flesh, but rather that as it burns the body, it annihilates even the last trace of the soul, leaving nothing behind. Thus, those demonic beings who seek to seize bodies and be reborn lose all hope of resurrection.
This innate karmic fire is the bane of all gods, demons, and spirits!
As the fire scorched the white robe upon his back, Heaven Burner hastily employed a technique to shift the stars and moon, stripping off his long robe in a fluid motion, leaving only a white inner garment as he fled in panic and disgrace. Though unscathed in vital places, his ridiculous escape would ensure his mockery throughout the wild realms for centuries to come.
Yet the other streams of primordial karmic fire that burst forth from the spirit diagram fell upon the wounded disciples of the Return Ruins Sanctuary on the field, and they were not so fortunate as Heaven Burner.
These disciples, who had formed the sword formation earlier, were already injured to varying degrees. After the formation broke, their bodies were left weak and depleted.
Seeing the innate karmic fire from the White Marsh Spirit Diagram surging toward them, the wounded disciples were powerless; before they could even rise to flee, they were engulfed in a sea of flames, burned so completely that not even a single bone remained.
Those with slightly higher cultivation hurried to take refuge in the Sword Pavilion, while those with lesser strength could only await death where they stood.
For a moment, the oppressive heat and the chorus of anguished cries transformed the picturesque Floating Jade Mountain into a hell on earth.
Yet, curiously, no matter how the karmic fire sprayed, it did not harm Bai Mu or Ling Yan in the slightest, as if the spirit diagram possessed the ability to distinguish friend from foe.
When the primordial fire had raged for some time, all formidable enemies had been driven back; those who did not retreat had long since become piles of ash, swept away by the mountain breeze and vanishing into the vast heavens.
Once the situation on the field had fundamentally shifted, the innate karmic fire within the spirit diagram gradually began to extinguish. The scroll, once stained crimson, returned to its softly yellowed and ancient appearance.
The illustrations of spirits and mountains within remained unchanged, and if not for the wounded disciples still wailing at the Sword Pavilion, none would believe that a moment before, this tranquil spirit diagram had hosted a massacre of unspeakable cruelty.
“What… what just happened?” Bai Mu muttered in bafflement, staring at the spirit diagram on the ground.
“I don’t know either,” Ling Yan replied, her face pale as she swallowed with difficulty. At the same time, her slender hand quickly extended forward, snatching the White Marsh Spirit Diagram from the ground.
Just as she was about to examine it closely, the diagram once more emitted the golden light from before, instantly enveloping both Bai Mu and Ling Yan.
This time, the white-gold light was several times stronger than before, so intense that the scene within could not be discerned with the naked eye.
The disciples of the Return Ruins Sanctuary, hiding within the Sword Pavilion’s barrier, fixed their eyes on the ball of white light on the field, unable to make out the forms of Ling Yan and the dying Bai Mu. As for what transpired within, those inside the barrier had no knowledge.
The golden light lasted only a few seconds, then, as the mountain breeze blew, the white light vanished abruptly before everyone’s focused gaze!
Along with the disappearance of the light went the severely wounded Ling Yan and Bai Mu, as well as the spirit diagram capable of spraying primordial karmic fire.
Staring at the empty field before them, the people of Return Ruins were utterly dumbfounded.
The scene was silent for a long time, until the cries of the wounded disciples faded away completely. Only then did Heaven’s Wrath, who had been hiding within the Sword Pavilion’s barrier, burst out in fury, roaring, “Damn it, those two wretches managed to escape!”
“Master, should we send the third-generation disciples to chase them at once?” Xiu Ji, standing nearby, gathered his courage to suggest.
“Chase them? For what?” Heaven’s Wrath snapped, his face twisted in anger. “They were rescued by that strange diagram—who knows which corner of the wild realms they’re hiding in now!”
“But…”
Xiu Ji still muttered, unwilling to let go, “Are we really going to let them escape without consequence?”
“Should we not avenge Senior Brother Wushang and those who guarded the formation today?”
“And what about Elder Shenque, whose cultivation was ruined by them? Such a deep blood feud—are we to just ignore it?”
“Impudent!”
Heaven’s Wrath shouted angrily, his tiger eyes blazing as he glared at Xiu Ji, who paled instantly.
After a short pause, Heaven’s Wrath, still seething, added, “When did I ever say to ignore it?”

“As long as they remain within the wild realms, they cannot escape the intelligence network of the Return Ruins Sanctuary. If they dare show themselves openly again, they’ll meet their doom!”
“Second Senior Brother!”
Suddenly, a delicate voice called from the woods behind the Sword Pavilion. In the next instant, a flash of white light revealed the beautiful Lady Xiyan, who floated in on a breeze scented with fragrance.
She glanced at the scattered smoke and corpses in front of the Sword Pavilion and could not help but furrow her elegant brows, urgently inquiring, “Where are Bai Mu and Ling Yan?”
“They’ve already escaped,” Heaven’s Wrath replied irritably, refusing to meet Xiyan’s gaze, his face still full of anger and anxiety.
“They weren’t hurt, were they?” Xiyan pressed on, her concern evident, a vague sense of foreboding stirring within her heart.
“Junior Sister!”
Seeing this, Heaven’s Wrath rebuked her with some displeasure, “Did you not notice how many disciples of the Return Ruins Sanctuary were burned and killed?
We’re already at a critical moment, and you still have the leisure to worry about those two wretches?”
“They are not wretches!”
The moment Heaven’s Wrath insulted the daughter of the Heavenly Emperor, Xiyan’s anger flared within.
But, constrained by Heaven’s Wrath being her father’s esteemed disciple, she could not openly confront him, so she retorted with barely concealed displeasure, “Second Senior Brother, I warn you, you’ve just made a grave mistake!”
