Chapter 121: The Azure Jade Demon Vase Transforms into Venomous Bees (Please Subscribe)
Baimu immediately held the Azure Dragon Sword diagonally across his chest, the "Supreme Good is Like Water" energy within him automatically radiating outwards, enveloping his entire body in an impenetrable shroud.
At this moment, Chunyu Ji had finished gathering her momentum. She flicked her white water sleeves through the air, and they struck out toward Baimu’s face like strange pythons emerging from a den. Though the sleeves were merely lengths of soft silk, seemingly lacking any significant lethality—as even a strike with maximum force would result in little more than a slight sting—the idea of using them to fell an enemy seemed like a fantasy. However, such conventional thinking could hardly be applied to a sorceress like Chunyu Ji, who had practiced her arts for many years.
As the sleeves danced through the air, they whistled toward Baimu like monstrous pythons, the force of their movement distorting the surrounding air. For some unknown reason, the white silk also carried an inexplicable fragrance. Though still some distance away, the scent was clearly perceptible on the night breeze. It was intoxicating, soul-stirring, and blended with a faint, fishy odor that crept into Baimu's nostrils.
*Could it be poisonous?* Baimu exclaimed inwardly. He quickly held his breath and stilled his mind, closing off his six senses until his eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, and consciousness reached a state of ethereal emptiness. The fragrance and the fishy odor vanished from his world in an instant.
He then swung the Azure Dragon Sword casually, thrusting forward without any specific technique. The ancient Azure Dragon sword qi within the blade surged out with his movement, transforming into a dragon of energy that collided head-on with the python-like water sleeves. The Azure Dragon was a formidable blade; in a single encounter, the sword qi shattered the seemingly powerful sleeves, reducing the python-like silk into tattered fragments.
A flicker of joy crossed Baimu's heart; he thought Chunyu Ji was not as powerful as he had imagined. With a single thought, he waved the Azure Dragon Sword again, pushed off the ground with his toes, and launched himself into the air. He charged toward Chunyu Ji, his body spinning like a spiral as he gripped the sword. The sound of sword qi tearing through the air was continuous, and the white dragon of sword energy appeared exceptionally vigorous against the backdrop of the night.
Chunyu Ji's previous move had been merely a probe, using less than half of her true strength. Thus, even though her sleeves were shattered, she felt no frustration or discouragement. Seeing Baimu pursue his advantage, she stood her ground and gave a strange grin. She flicked her right hand through the air, and a cyan bottle suddenly materialized in her palm.
The bottle looked to be about three inches square, its mouth tightly sealed with a wooden plug, hiding its contents. Yet, the black miasma faintly emanating from it suggested it was nothing good. Nearby, Gui Ge’s eyes flashed with fear upon seeing the bottle, and he cast a look of concern toward the spinning, flying Baimu.
Baimu was like an arrow released from a bow—there was no turning back. Even as he flew, he saw the cold sneer on her lips and sensed the black energy rising from the jade bottle, but he could no longer halt his momentum. Since there was no retreat, he would fight to the death; perhaps the woman was merely using the bottle for show.
With this thought, Baimu channeled another twenty percent of his "Supreme Good is Like Water" energy into the Azure Dragon Sword and drew a sliver of sword qi from his Void Cauldron to protect his vital meridians. Since his previous clash with Gui Ge, he had understood that the sword qi inherent in the Azure Dragon Sword was the purest righteous energy in the world, fearing no demonic or wicked arts. With this protection, he could largely withstand whatever harm the cyan bottle might contain.
In an instant, the dragon of sword qi roared and charged before Chunyu Ji. Its imposing stature and magnificent intent whipped her black hair into the night air; in that disheveled state, she looked far better than she did with her usual seductive airs.
Chunyu Ji finally acted. As the sword dragon approached, she raised her arm and tossed the cyan jade bottle. Countless black poisonous bees poured out, forming a locust-like formation that swarmed toward Baimu. Under the moonlight, the dense mass of black bees, their stingers gleaming with an oily, dark luster, appeared eerie and grotesque in the deep mountain night.
The sword dragon reached Chunyu Ji first, poised to pierce through her heart just as it had the array guardian at the back of Fuyu Mountain. Yet, she merely grinned unhurriedly. Under Gui Ge’s worried gaze, she spun her body and vanished like a phantom before the sword dragon could strike.
The sword dragon, having lost its target, slammed into the ground ahead, carving a massive crater into the black hill. The cyan jade bottle remained suspended in mid-air, with endless streams of poisonous bees pouring out. The black swarm adorned the small Southern Wilderness village with a chilling atmosphere, the dense mass of bodies flowing like a river.
It was inconceivable. The bottle appeared to be only three inches square; even ten bees would have made it crowded. Yet, the bees pouring forth numbered in the thousands, if not tens of thousands. And given the fear in Gui Ge’s eyes, these were clearly no ordinary insects.
Seeing his sword qi strike nothingness and Chunyu Ji vanish into thin air, Baimu realized his momentum was carrying him straight into the swarm. If he did not halt this trajectory, he would surely be stung to death. Even the bold Baimu felt his skin crawl at the sight of those gleaming, black, venomous stingers.
In a state of terror, he instinctively swung the Azure Dragon Sword. The sword qi dormant within his Void Cauldron surged into the blade, transforming into another dragon of energy that roared toward the dense swarm.
"Om..."
A dragon’s roar suddenly echoed through the midsummer mountains. The dragon, formed of sword qi, charged into the swarm with the primitive, savage force of an ancient Azure Dragon. Its golden claws tore wildly, ripping a path through the suffocating formation of poisonous bees.
