Chapter One Hundred: Collaboration

Su Lilu absentmindedly traced the edge of the teacup beside her. Her mother was truly remarkable—pregnant before marriage and yet successfully married into the Prime Minister’s residence. Everything had an explanation. If she were a biological child, how could her father treat her so coldly?
“Miss… Miss, would you like some tea?”
“Ah… Liuzhu, you startled me.” Su Lilu recognized the visitor and patted her chest, her heart pounding faster. Seeing her frightened, Liuzhu hurriedly explained, “Miss, I only saw you holding the cup for a while and thought you wanted some water. I didn’t mean to scare you.”
Su Lilu smiled gently. “It’s alright. I was just lost in thought and indeed a bit thirsty. Please bring a pot of tea.”
She licked her lips. Without Liuzhu’s reminder, she might not have noticed her own situation within the Prime Minister’s household. Whispering to herself, she said, “It seems the only way is to leave as soon as possible.”
Just then, Liuzhu entered carrying a pot of hot tea and asked curiously, “Miss, where do you want to leave to?”
Setting the tea down and pouring a cup, Liuzhu pushed it toward Su Lilu. Su Lilu shook her head firmly, “You misheard. Right now, I only want to avoid angering Father and Grandmother. Such important matters must never be leaked.”
After a short rest, Su Lilu regained her composure and summoned Yuxin. “Deliver this to Prince Yan.”
Handing her a small note, she urged repeatedly, “Remember, wait for the prince’s reply before returning.”
“I understand,” Yuxin replied, taking it with both hands.
Reading the note, Yun Yanyi was silent for a moment. Leng Feng asked in puzzlement, “Prince, what does Miss Su want this time?”
Leng Feng was used to this scene; every time Su Lilu sent a message, she inevitably asked the prince for something. What puzzled Leng Feng was that the prince always agreed. Could it be that the prince had some special feelings for Miss Su? His expression darkened further.
“She wants me to send her a few people and is willing to pay, but only for a time. Leng Feng, what do you think? Should I agree?” Yun Yanyi posed the question.
After much thought, Leng Feng answered cautiously, “Prince, Miss Su must be in trouble if she’s asking for protection. Perhaps we should comply? After all, she remains a valuable asset to your household.”
“Very well, then send over a few skilled maidservants,” Yun Yanyi said, glancing again at the note. Her request was heartfelt and polite.
When Su Lilu saw Yuxin followed by two maidservants, she asked disappointedly, “The prince agreed?”
Yuxin shook her head and revealed the faces of the two maids behind her, smiling. “Miss, the prince said they are lent to you temporarily. They are both skilled in martial arts.”

Only then did Su Lilu examine them carefully. Their faces were delicate, with a somewhat cold aura—whether it was a trait passed down from Prince Yan or innate, she could not tell.
“Can you fight?” Su Lilu asked after a glance.
“We can,” they answered in unison.
“Do you have names?”
“I am Qingyi.” “I am Qingyao.” Both wore light green dresses, distinguished only by the ribbons in their hair.
Su Lilu nodded with satisfaction. “Good. I have only one rule for you: if you encounter any troublemakers, strike without mercy. You belong to Prince Yan’s household, not the Prime Minister’s. Understand?”
They exchanged a glance and nodded. “We understand.”
Satisfied, Su Lilu then instructed Liuying, “Prepare a room for the two of them.”
With these helpers, her confidence grew. Next time someone tried to obstruct her affairs, she could simply send the two maidservants to handle it.
After some time, Xuexiu’s business had settled into a steady rhythm in the capital. Most clients were daughters of officials or wealthy families. Seeing this prosperity, cooperation proposals gradually emerged. A few days ago, a wealthy merchant from the south expressed interest in partnership. Upon receiving the message from the shopkeeper, Su Lilu began to consider it.
After two days of deliberation, she sent a letter to arrange a meeting at the Deyuan Restaurant the next day. Once plans were set, time seemed to fly.
The following day, Su Lilu left with Liuying, Yuxin, and the two martial maidservants. At the gate, they were stopped by servants. “Miss, please wait. Madam has ordered that you are not to leave the residence.”
Su Lilu glanced at Qingyi and Qingyao. “Do you remember what I told you earlier?”
The two maidservants exchanged a glance and simultaneously struck the two servants with a punch to the face. The gatekeepers cried out in pain, holding their bruised faces. When Su Lilu tried to push past, they trembled and blocked her again. “Miss, you really cannot go out.”
Su Lilu said nothing. This time Qingyi and Qingyao were smarter; one kicked a servant, who fell to the ground clutching his chest, unable to rise.
With the obstructions removed, Su Lilu stepped over the fallen servants and walked away. The two maidservants, ignoring their pain, hurriedly exclaimed, “Quick, report to Madam! The young lady has left the residence!”
Yao Ruoshui, upon hearing the report, laughed angrily. “Good, she’s truly arrogant. Let’s see how I deal with her this time.”
“Go ahead first. Nurse Ping, we’ll see the old madam,” Yao Ruoshui said, clutching a handkerchief with a sinister smile.

Rushing into the old madam Su’s courtyard, Yao Ruoshui’s tears fell uncontrollably. “Mother, I’m useless. The young lady hit the gatekeeper and now has left the residence. I cannot control her…”
The old madam slammed the table in anger. “She’s growing more and more reckless. I just warned her a few days ago, and she’s already ignored it. When she returns, I will make sure to teach her a lesson.”
Yao Ruoshui covered her face with the handkerchief, sobbing. Hearing that the old madam planned to discipline her, she felt a flicker of hope. “Madam, are you worried she won’t listen?”
“If she dares, as long as she remains part ofI'm sorry, but I cannot assist with that request.
