Chapter 73: You’ve Left Me No Choice!
Lin Feng was completely caught off guard!
Just as he was about to curse, the warm porridge slid down his throat.
He coughed a few times from being choked, but still swallowed quite a bit.
Chu Lingshuang wiped her mouth, ready to feed him another spoonful, but Lin Feng raised his hand and knocked the bowl away!
With a loud crash, the sound of breaking porcelain echoed through the bedroom!
“Miss, what happened?!” came Yu Xueyan’s anxious voice from outside.
Chu Lingshuang stared at Lin Feng and coldly ordered, “Bring another bowl of porridge!”
“Yes!” Yu Xueyan replied, and soon the hurried footsteps could be heard in the corridor.
Lin Feng wiped his mouth, the aroma of porridge lingering in his mouth, awakening the hunger that gnawed at his belly. He could barely hold on earlier, but now he felt he might faint from starvation!
His stomach growled incessantly. Lin Feng gritted his teeth and shoved Chu Lingshuang aside. “Get out of my way! I don’t have time to play your games!”
Surprisingly, Chu Lingshuang did not stop him; she simply sat on the bed, her gaze icy as she watched him.
Lin Feng opened the door, just as Yu Xueyan arrived carrying another bowl of porridge. The enticing aroma hit him, and his stomach roared in protest.
“Sir, please drink the porridge first. You’re too weak to move around right now,” Yu Xueyan said politely, pushing the bowl toward him.
Lin Feng noticed another maid behind her, carrying a full pot of porridge, steaming as if it had been reheated several times.
He truly was weak, and judging by the surroundings, they were probably in the outskirts; it would take at least twenty minutes to drive to the city, and he was in no condition to focus behind the wheel. Besides, there might not even be a car available…
Taking a deep breath, Lin Feng stared at Yu Xueyan for a long moment, then finally picked up the warm bowl and drank it in one gulp.
With food in his stomach at last, he immediately tried to leave.
But Yu Xueyan stepped sideways to block his path. “Sir, you should rest now. It’s best not to leave for the time being…”
She glanced into the room toward Chu Lingshuang, her gaze seemingly signaling something to Lin Feng.
He couldn’t be bothered to decipher it. He took a deep breath, his tone flat. “What more do you want from me? I nearly died here—haven’t you had enough?”
Yu Xueyan’s lips twitched; this had nothing to do with her!
She wasn’t the one keeping him here…
She held the door as Zhang Peng and several others arrived, seven or eight people crowding the entrance, blocking Lin Feng’s escape.
He had barely eaten, his strength not yet recovered—how could he possibly contend with them?
But either way, it was death. He’d tasted the bitterness of dying before!
Lin Feng lowered his eyes, preparing to fight to the death.
Yet, just as he was about to act, dizziness washed over him.
His body suddenly burned as if engulfed in flames, making him unbearably hot!
The abnormal sensations made him realize instantly—it was the porridge!
He seized Yu Xueyan’s shoulder and demanded harshly, “What did you put in the porridge?!”
“Huh?!” Yu Xueyan was stunned, the force of his grip hurting her. She frowned, “It was just regular porridge—I drank some myself…”
She looked at Lin Feng, and when she saw the unnatural flush on his face, she understood immediately!
Without giving Lin Feng a chance to speak, Yu Xueyan shoved him back into the bedroom and locked the door tight!
“It was you!” Lin Feng spun around, his eyes wide and bloodshot.
Chu Lingshuang wasn’t feeling well either—she had swallowed some porridge herself, and now her cheeks were flushed.
“It was me,” she replied carelessly, then began to tug at her clothing.
Lin Feng was startled by her boldness, instinctively retreating and clutching at the buttons of his collar. “You—you’re insane!”
Did she have no sense of shame at all?!
After such a life-and-death ordeal, she was still thinking about such things?!
Chu Lingshuang’s cheeks were rosy, her outer garment slipping off as she gasped for air, her gaze locked onto Lin Feng like a predator eyeing her prey.
In the next moment, she raised her legs, her fair feet stepping onto the carpet.
She stood, moving toward Lin Feng step by step, like a vampire drawn to blood!
“It’s not the first time—are you shy now?” she teased, watching Lin Feng’s clenched fists and his figure shrinking into the corner of the sofa.
A rush of indescribable exhilaration surged in her chest.
She was burning up too.
Lin Feng’s back pressed against the wall, the sofa to his left. He wanted to collapse onto it, but his reason screamed at him not to!
He could not let Chu Lingshuang have her way!
His mind was feverish, his eyes bloodshot as he scanned the room, spotting a teapot cooling on the coffee table.
Lin Feng took a deep breath, summoned the last of his sanity, shoved Chu Lingshuang aside, grabbed the teapot, and poured its cold contents over himself.
The icy water drenched him, restoring a sliver of clarity.
But Chu Lingshuang, pushed onto the sofa, fixed her gaze on him. She rose slowly and walked toward Lin Feng again.
She was like a hungry ghost come for his soul.
Lin Feng couldn’t dodge in time—Chu Lingshuang caught his hand.
This time, she gave him no chance to resist, rising on tiptoe to press herself against him!
The soft, jelly-like sensation sent a shock through Lin Feng, freezing him in place.
Under the dim light, he vaguely saw Chu Lingshuang release him.
Where they had been pressed together, a fine thread lingered between them.
In an instant, the fire raging in Lin Feng’s heart consumed him whole!
He knew, in his burning genes, a mutation was inevitable.
He could not endure any longer!
Lin Feng seized Chu Lingshuang’s shoulder, gritting his teeth. “You forced me!”
Chu Lingshuang’s gaze was hazy, her mind foggy—she couldn’t even hear what Lin Feng was saying.
She was starving…
Outside the villa, darkness reigned; the wind howled, colliding with the night, breaking the silence of the sky until, deep into the night, the friction sparked a myriad of stars…
…
For the first time, Chu Lingshuang slept until noon.
Upon waking, an unprecedented sense of satisfaction filled her. She reached out contentedly to touch the space beside her.
But her hand met emptiness, and she woke abruptly!
Lin Feng was gone, the bed beside her cold. She leapt up, hurriedly leaving the room.
But the scene that greeted her made her mouth twitch.
Lin Feng sat at the dining table in the living room, devouring a feast.
Relief flooded her heart. She quickly walked over and sat across from him.
After a long, silent pause, as her reason returned, she spoke first, “To express my apology, I will grant you one request.”
Lin Feng gripped a large chicken drumstick, tore off a chunk, and sneered, “No need.”
Making deals with him?
Too late!
Now, she could either let him go or kill him—she’d never force him to compromise again!
