Chapter 49: She Really Did Like His Initiative!
“Lin Feng? Are you inside?! It’s me, Fang Ziyue!”
“I need to talk to you—can you open the door?!”
Fang Ziyue’s voice echoed outside the door, sending a chill down Lin Feng’s spine.
Luckily, he always locked the door when he was alone in the storage room. If Fang Ziyue had barged in and witnessed the scene inside, he would never have been able to explain himself!
“Oh? A girl?”
The moment she heard a woman’s voice, Chu Lingshuang curled her crimson lips into a sly smile, her eyes twinkling mischievously as she looked at Lin Feng.
Lin Feng quickly lowered his head, his voice grave, “Go hide by the desk!”
Chu Lingshuang’s eyes flickered, amusement dancing within them. “Hide? Why should I hide?”
“You’re the eldest daughter of the Chu family. Aren’t you afraid of being seen by others?!”
Lin Feng’s anger flared—did this woman not understand a single word? Was now really the time for her to make trouble?
“Lin Feng, I know you’re inside—the lady out front told me you’re in the storage room. Please open the door, I have something to say to you…”
The knocking continued, Fang Ziyue’s tone growing more pleading.
Chu Lingshuang’s smile grew even more brazen. “Old flame not extinguished, huh—”
She narrowed her eyes and looked at Lin Feng teasingly, then added, “Or has it rekindled?”
“Rekindled, my foot!” Lin Feng cursed, grabbing Chu Lingshuang’s arm and pushing her behind the cabinet.
She didn’t resist, watching Lin Feng with a playful expression as he guided her out of sight behind the cabinet.
Seeing her obediently standing there, Lin Feng finally breathed a sigh of relief.
After all, there were many people outside. If Fang Ziyue insisted on lingering, she’d draw attention, and that would be disastrous…
He turned and opened the storage room door.
Sure enough, Fang Ziyue was waiting at the threshold.
As soon as Lin Feng opened the door, Fang Ziyue rushed in, beaming at him. “Little Feng, I came to apologize.”
Lin Feng’s brow furrowed, displeased by Fang Ziyue’s abrupt entrance. He spoke coldly, “This is the convenience store’s storage room—unauthorized persons are not allowed.”
His meaning was clear: he wanted Fang Ziyue to leave.
But she seemed not to hear, continuing to smile sweetly. “Little Feng, don’t be angry! I know I was wrong. When you finish work, let me cook for you, all right?”
Upon hearing this, Lin Feng felt an urge to hit something.
Did Fang Ziyue not understand? He didn’t welcome her, nor did he want her apology!
He was about to forcefully usher her out when Chu Lingshuang’s playful voice rang out behind him.
His heart clenched.
“Cooking for him yourself, huh!” Chu Lingshuang’s voice floated over, tinged with mock jealousy. “Lin Feng, you’re such a lucky man!”
The moment she spoke, Fang Ziyue froze.
Stunned, she watched as a slender, graceful woman stepped out from behind Lin Feng. She wore a black mask that covered her delicate, palm-sized face, but her exquisite phoenix eyes were so beautiful that Fang Ziyue couldn’t imagine how stunning the face beneath that mask must be…
Compared to her, Fang Ziyue instantly felt like a rat from a filthy sewer; whatever beauty she possessed was utterly crushed.
And Lin Feng, meanwhile, was thoroughly infuriated.
Did she not understand? Why did she come out now?
Was she so eager for people to recognize her as the Chu family’s heiress?
She wasn’t afraid, but he certainly was! If her identity were discovered, this convenience store would be swarmed with visitors.
Lin Feng glared in anger, about to curse, but when he saw Chu Lingshuang wearing the mask, he relaxed. So she wasn’t completely crazy after all.
Fang Ziyue, incredulous, stammered, “Little Feng, who is she…?”
Her voice trembled, her whole body tense.
“Me?” Chu Lingshuang narrowed her eyes, amused, and shot Fang Ziyue a glance as she took Lin Feng’s arm, coldly countering, “Who do you think I am?”
Suddenly her grip tightened! Whether out of revenge or some other reason, Chu Lingshuang pinched the skin on Lin Feng’s elbow so fiercely that pain shot through him.
Fang Ziyue stared, unable to believe what she was seeing.
“Little Feng, you… you already have a girlfriend?!”
Lin Feng didn’t want to be involved with this crazy woman, but under the circumstances, pretending they were together would be the easiest way to get rid of Fang Ziyue.
The woman was simply too bothersome. Now that she knew where he worked, she’d come pestering him every day!
Lin Feng decided to make use of the situation—if a “girlfriend” was delivered to his door, he’d accept.
Enduring the pain, he turned and gripped Chu Lingshuang’s chin.
Her refined jawline was accentuated by the mask, and she seemed surprised by Lin Feng’s sudden boldness, her eyes widening.
In the next instant, through the mask, Lin Feng pressed his lips to hers.
A brief kiss, light as a dragonfly’s touch.
The unique scent of Lin Feng swept over Chu Lingshuang like a heatwave. Even with the mask between them, her cheeks flushed red and her heart raced faster and faster…
No one had ever dared to treat her this way.
Yet, perhaps she rather liked this feeling?
Chu Lingshuang licked her lips, savoring the moment—if only there hadn’t been a mask in the way.
She really did enjoy his boldness.
Before her eyes, the two of them acted so intimately, right in front of Fang Ziyue, and the other woman was a hundred times more beautiful than herself. Fang Ziyue finally broke.
She had searched for Lin Feng for days, hadn’t done anything wrong, and had come all this way to apologize. Yet not only did he disregard her efforts, he flaunted another woman in front of her!
The smile slipped from Fang Ziyue’s face.
She scowled at Lin Feng, her voice venomous, “Lin Feng, I never thought you were this kind of person. You’ve moved on so seamlessly, haven’t you?!”
Lin Feng was stunned—seamlessly moved on?
It was her who had moved on, wasn’t it!
Fang Ziyue pressed on, “I knew it—when I suggested breaking up, you didn’t even react. So you’d already found someone else, huh?”
Chu Lingshuang’s eyes narrowed dangerously.
She didn’t like this at all.
Why did it sound as if she were merely a backup?
Her gaze grew dark, murderous intent simmering within.
Lin Feng was amused by Fang Ziyue’s words. “We broke up already—why do you still care so much?”
In other words, they had nothing to do with each other; why meddle?
Fang Ziyue glared fiercely at him, blurting out, “So you move on seamlessly and still say I’m in the wrong. At least I know when I’ve made a mistake and should apologize! I never imagined you’d be this kind of person!”
Lin Feng nearly laughed aloud—this Fang Ziyue really was something else…
