Lakeview Manor.

As soon as he stepped through the gate, Mrs. Wang greeted him with a bright smile. “Sir, welcome home. Would you like me to prepare a late-night snack for you?”

Lin Feng waved his hand; he had no habit of eating late at night.

During the evening shift change, there was an hour for dinner, and he had already ordered takeout.

Not seeing Chu Lingshuang, it seemed she hadn’t returned.

Lin Feng breathed a sigh of relief; the madwoman wasn’t here, and that was all the better.

He went straight upstairs, returned to his bedroom, washed up, climbed into bed, played on his phone for a while, and soon fell asleep.

The next morning, he woke up on time.

This time, he’d learned his lesson and ate breakfast downstairs, saving himself a bit of money.

The breakfast spread was abundant, but with such a large table full of dishes and only himself to eat, it felt somewhat extravagant.

Glancing at Mrs. Wang bustling nearby, Lin Feng couldn’t help but say, “Mrs. Wang, why don’t you join me? There’s no way I can finish all this.”

Unexpectedly, Mrs. Wang reacted as if she’d heard something terrifying, waving her hands frantically. “No, no, it’s Miss’s rule. The servants are not allowed to dine at the table.”

Again with these damned rules—there was no shortage of them from that madwoman!

Lin Feng curled his lips and asked offhandedly, “Miss hasn’t come back?”

“Miss had business last night. This place is far from the city, so she rarely stays overnight,” Mrs. Wang replied truthfully.

Staring at Lin Feng, she couldn’t help but marvel inwardly. Normally, Miss would return only once or twice a month, but since Lin Feng arrived, her visits home had become more frequent...

Lin Feng said nothing more, quickly finished the last soup dumpling, and got up to leave.

As usual, Liu Tianhan was waiting at the door.

He got in the car, and after forty minutes they arrived at the company.

This time, Liu Tianhan drove straight into the underground garage. Though it meant a ten-minute walk to the security room, Lin Feng didn’t mind.

At precisely nine o’clock, Lin Feng clocked in.

“Man, you never show up a minute early,” Li Hao complained, poking his head over as soon as Lin Feng sat down.

“Well, it’s work. Showing up on time is enough...” Lin Feng replied. Before he could say more, Li Hao stood up.

“Come on, today we’re paired up. Let’s do a floor inspection.”

He hadn’t even warmed his seat before being called up, so Lin Feng hurried after him.

They grabbed their inspection gear—baton, flashlight—and entered the company through the main entrance.

This was Lin Feng’s first time inside Yi Han Group’s offices.

Just through the door, he was stunned by the scene—artfully arranged decor everywhere, a fountain garden in the center, corners divided into lounge and reception areas.

Judging by the ornaments on the coffee tables alone, their value was evident.

“Haozi, here for patrol?” The smiling receptionist at the entrance greeted Li Hao.

“Yeah! Showing the new guy around!” Li Hao replied, gesturing to introduce Lin Feng. “This is our receptionist, Manager Ren.”

Lin Feng glanced at his badge: Ren Fei.

He nodded and smiled. “Hello, Manager Ren.”

“Hello,” Ren Fei nodded back with a friendly smile, and kindly reminded them, “Move quietly when you patrol the top floor—Miss Chu is in a meeting.”

“Got it, thanks. We’ll be on our way!”

Li Hao waved and led Lin Feng inside.

Passing the transparent glass, Lin Feng glimpsed the luxurious office areas. Li Hao couldn’t help but sigh, “Ah, I wish I could sit in there one day...”

Having made a rare friend, Lin Feng laughed along. “Our job isn’t so bad, is it? With such a big company, doing a few rounds a day, we save on gym fees. Aren’t we better off than those stuck at a desk?”

Li Hao seemed to find that hilarious. “Brother, do you know even the lowest here makes hundreds of thousands a year? No way we security guards compare!”

He pressed the elevator button. “This is just the first floor. The higher you go, the higher the positions. I know several up there making millions annually...”

Lin Feng wasn’t much surprised.

After all, it was Chu’s family company.

From what he knew, the Chu family’s power was unfathomable; this was likely only one of their many companies.

Chu Lingshuang probably had countless other enterprises outside.

Yet it seemed no one here was aware—Li Hao’s reaction made that clear.

The Chu family certainly kept a low profile.

The higher they went, the fewer people around, and the more lavish the company’s decor became.

Following Li Hao, they inspected each floor, but when they reached the last—top floor—Li Hao suddenly clutched his stomach with a pained expression. “Damn, that bowl of snail noodles this morning is messing me up...”

Lin Feng hadn’t even reacted when a flashlight was shoved into his hand. “Brother, you go ahead. There’s no one in the corridor upstairs right now, just do a quick round. I need to hit the restroom.”

After two days here, Li Hao had helped him plenty; Lin Feng had no reason to refuse.

He nodded and pressed the elevator button. “Alright, I’ll wait for you up here after.”

“Thanks!” Li Hao ran off, holding his stomach.

The elevator doors closed, and Lin Feng went alone to the top floor.

Just as Li Hao had said, when the elevator opened, the corridor was empty, only muffled voices coming from behind frosted glass.

Everyone was in a meeting.

Although it was his first time here, Lin Feng felt no nerves. He walked out of the elevator to complete his patrol.

But just as he finished and prepared to leave, the door to the lounge next to the meeting room opened.

It was the last person Lin Feng wanted to see—Yu Xueyan.

She appeared before him, sharp and poised in high heels.

“Well, you look the part.” She sized him up, arms crossed, her tone dripping with sarcasm.

Lin Feng desperately wished no one would witness this scene. He planned to pretend he hadn’t seen her and walk past, but after two steps, Yu Xueyan raised her hand to block him.

“Where are you running? Miss asked you to go in.”

“Me?” Lin Feng was dumbfounded. Was she crazy? This was the company; the meeting room was right next door!

Yu Xueyan lifted her brows and strode toward the meeting room, tossing back, “Hurry up, head of security. Don’t keep Miss waiting.”

Staring at the lounge door mere steps away, Lin Feng clenched his teeth and finally braced himself to go in.

After only a few steps, he heard that familiar, icy voice from behind the desk.

“Close the door.”

Lin Feng couldn’t wait to shut it, quickly obeying.

The next moment, the chair behind the desk turned around, revealing Chu Lingshuang in a snow-white suit, her long legs crossed, white high heels propped on the desk, regarding him with a faint, inscrutable smile...
