Throughout the entire day, Chu Lingshuang did not come to bother him again, and Lin Feng enjoyed a rare day of leisure in the bedroom.

Thinking about having to get up early for work the next day, he was so excited for the return of his lost freedom that he didn’t fall asleep until well into the night.

Early the next morning, he woke from his dreams, quickly washed up, and had just changed into his clothes when Yu Xueyan showed up, carrying a medical kit.

It was the first time she’d seen Lin Feng in his formal work attire. The well-fitted suit outlined his strong physique, and underneath he wore a turtleneck sweater. With his thin lips pressed together, he radiated an air of restrained austerity.

Suddenly, Yu Xueyan understood why her young mistress insisted on keeping him around.

It wasn’t that she’d taken a fancy to him as a person—she’d probably fallen for his body…

Yu Xueyan didn’t dare say much. After helping Lin Feng change his bandages, she reminded him, “Your driver is Liu Tianhan. She’s already waiting for you downstairs. She’ll fill you in on the details.”

With that, she left.

Lin Feng pulled his turtleneck back up and didn’t give it much thought. He grabbed his phone and headed straight downstairs, ignoring even Mrs. Wang’s call to breakfast.

Stepping out of the villa, he immediately spotted a black Maybach parked on the gravel path beside the garden.

He couldn’t help but twitch his lips.

Really? Did Chu Lingshuang have something wrong with her? She wanted him to go to work in this car?

Was she afraid he wouldn’t attract enough attention?

But with his chance to leave so close at hand, Lin Feng suppressed his dissatisfaction and decided to get in the car first and complain later.

Bracing himself, he opened the door. In the driver’s seat sat a young woman in a black suit, smiling brightly at him.

“Hello, sir. I’m your designated driver, Liu Tianhan. You can call me Hanhan. From now on, our departure time is 8 a.m., and after work at 9 p.m., I’ll be waiting for you at the company entrance.”

As soon as he got in, Liu Tianhan began chatting away cheerfully.

She was nothing like the taciturn Yu Xueyan.

Her words poured out like a boiling kettle, and she chattered nonstop.

It was rare to hear such a lively stream of talk, and Lin Feng could sense the girl’s excitement and friendliness. He couldn’t help but respond.

“You seem pretty excited?” Lin Feng asked, lips twitching.

“Absolutely!” Liu Tianhan handled the steering wheel with practiced ease, pressed the gas pedal, and the car shot forward. “I’m your personal driver now—just two runs a day. It’s way easier than before. How could I not be excited?”

Lin Feng couldn’t help but agree—it was the honest truth.

Every working person dreams of an easy job…

Liu Tianhan went on, “Hey, you really are a lucky guy! The young miss even assigned me to drive you. What a sweet deal…”

At this, Lin Feng frowned slightly. Why did everyone here only ever say things like this to him? Then again, it was no wonder. People who’d done this kind of work for years, living under someone like Chu Lingshuang’s heavy hand, would naturally think this way.

How could they understand that in a lifetime, the greatest luxury is to live true to oneself.

Liu Tianhan continued to chatter, mostly expressing envy for Lin Feng, which made him lose interest in further conversation.

He gazed out the window at the passing scenery, but he didn’t really take it in. He simply said, “Could you use a different car to pick me up tonight?”

“A different car?” Liu Tianhan was surprised. “Isn’t this one great?”

This was a top-of-the-line Maybach—if it weren’t for Lin Feng, she’d never get to drive such a nice car.

“It’s too conspicuous. I’m just a security guard—I don’t want to attract attention,” Lin Feng replied honestly.

Liu Tianhan seemed to find this hilarious. She glanced at him in the rearview mirror and, confirming that he was indeed dressed as a security guard, couldn’t help but twitch her own lips.

She really didn’t get this guy—he was actually complaining that the car was too flashy…

Still, since it was his request, and she’d lucked into such an easy job, Liu Tianhan didn’t dare brush him off. “Alright, I’ll ask the young miss about it later.”

“Okay.”

Lin Feng responded, and after that, the rest of the journey passed in silence.

He watched the scenery and kept track of the time. No wonder she was chosen by the Chu family—Liu Tianhan’s driving was fast and steady. What would normally take over an hour, she accomplished in just forty minutes.

At 8:40 a.m., the car stopped in front of Yihan Group.

As the Chu family’s foundation, Yihan Group needed no introduction. It was one of the largest conglomerates in Beijing, with an entire building of expensive glass windows. In front was a massive courtyard, and two security booths stood at the main gate.

This must be his new post.

The car stopped at the company entrance, and a man in a security uniform came out immediately.

“Miss Liu, what an honor!” The man greeted her at the driver’s window with a cheerful, respectful bow.

Liu Tianhan rolled down the window and smiled, “Good morning, Brother Wang!”

She pointed to Lin Feng, who was about to step out of the backseat. “This is the new hire—he’s all yours now!”

Wang Chengming looked at Lin Feng and nodded repeatedly. “No problem, leave him to me!”

With that, Lin Feng got out of the car. Through the window, Liu Tianhan called out, “I’ll pick you up here at 9 tonight!”

Then she hit the gas and sped away.

Wang Chengming looked Lin Feng up and down with curiosity. “Just joined?”

“Yeah.” Lin Feng nodded. Though this was his first time working as a security guard, he understood basic social etiquette. The chance to be out working was rare, and he didn’t want to risk giving Chu Lingshuang any excuse to fire him for not doing his job. That would be a real loss.

So, he knew he had to establish good relationships here.

He smiled politely. “Hello, Brother Wang.”

Wang Chengming nodded, instantly understanding—at a company as big as Yihan Group, even the security guards needed some skills or connections. This new guy must know Liu Tianhan.

“Come on in,” he said, leading the way.

Lin Feng followed him inside and took a seat in the security booth at the entrance.

Looking around, he couldn’t help but twitch his lips again. The Chu family spared no expense— even the security booth at the company entrance was lavishly outfitted: air conditioning, hot water, a rest area, everything you could need, plus a dozen large-screen computers linked to the company’s surveillance system.

This security office was as good as any workplace he’d had before.

Wang Chengming brought Lin Feng into his own office, poured him a cup of hot water, and casually asked, “Which university did you graduate from?”

“Beijing First University,” Lin Feng answered, taking the cup with both hands.

Wang Chengming nodded approvingly. “Impressive! That’s a tough school to get into. You must be very capable.”

“Oh, not at all. I was just lucky,” Lin Feng replied modestly. Having observed that Wang Chengming was the head of the security team, he didn’t waste time and asked directly, “Brother Wang, could you assign me my duties?”
