Chapter 107: When He Says It, It Means He Wants It.
“Please, have a seat.”
She casually lifted her hand, gesturing toward the sofa opposite her, her tone scarcely softened as she commanded him.
It was rare to hear such a “kind” tone from Ling Shuang, and Lin Feng, in a good mood, teased, “Oh, have you changed your tune?”
His words bore a subtle edge of sarcasm.
Unexpectedly, Ling Shuang did not take offense; instead, she earnestly explained, “You’re too tall. If I keep looking up for too long, I get tired.”
Lin Feng’s mouth twitched—alright, alright, that was a reason he couldn’t argue with.
He turned and sat down not far from the desk.
Surveying the carefully refurbished room, Lin Feng couldn’t help but joke, “Miss Ling, you’re living quite well these days.”
His repeated sarcasm fell on Ling Shuang’s ears without a trace of anger.
On the contrary, she felt he was hinting at something.
Without responding, she picked up her phone and sent a voice message to Yu Xueyan outside the door: “Go and redecorate Lin Feng’s room to match mine.”
If she said it, then she meant it.
Lin Feng glanced at Ling Shuang in surprise. Was she out of her mind?
But having grown broad-minded over time, he didn’t bother explaining much. Instead, he picked up a cup on the desk and poured himself some tea.
Seeing his movement, Ling Shuang slowly rose.
As she moved, the black hem of her dress fell to her ankles, the delicate straps hung precariously from her pale shoulders, and the curved neckline slipped down, revealing her cleavage.
Her long hair was pinned with a simple ebony hairpin, and her earlobes bore two smooth, lustrous white pearl pendants—a simple yet dignified ensemble.
Crossing the desk, her full figure came into Lin Feng’s view.
A flash of admiration crossed his eyes but faded quickly.
Watching Ling Shuang approach step by step, Lin Feng sipped his tea and smiled lightly, “Miss Ling, surely you’re not going to forbid me from drinking tea too?”
Ling Shuang didn’t reply but sat down on the single sofa to Lin Feng’s right, her arm resting on the armrest, one leg crossed, exposing a flawless ankle and perfect curves.
“I’m thirsty too.”
She stared straight at Lin Feng, speaking words that seemed unrelated.
Pouring another cup of tea was a small matter; after all, she had questions to ask, so Lin Feng naturally wouldn’t refuse.
He picked up the teapot and poured tea for Ling Shuang.
His gesture caught her eye, and her gaze grew even more eager.
“Please, Miss Ling,” Lin Feng said calmly as he pushed the cup toward her.
The temperature in the room seemed to rise, yet the mood took on a subtle dominance shift.
Ling Shuang didn’t ponder such things; she stared at the tea cup for a long moment before lifting it, placing the rim on her lips and taking a sip, her eyes narrowing slightly.
For some reason, though it was the same brand she often drank and the temperature hadn’t changed, the tea felt sweeter going down.
“Miss Ling, what brings you to seek me out so suddenly?”
Though he was still recording a program, it was currently break time. The next session was scheduled for six in the evening, so he had plenty of time.
That didn’t mean he intended to sit here all day, so Lin Feng chose to get straight to the point.
Ling Shuang set down her cup slowly, glanced at him coldly, and said, “Join me for lunch later.”
Lin Feng was taken aback. Then he replied, “Miss Ling, lunch is at noon, and it’s only half past ten now. Did you call me here just to have me wait for an hour and a half?”
His tone was reasonable, without anger.
But throughout history, reasoning with women usually doesn’t work.
Ling Shuang raised a hand, her finger touching her cheek as she tilted her head slightly, staring at Lin Feng. “What else could it be?”
Lin Feng: “......”
Ling Shuang curled her lips, domineeringly declaring, “There are still some unsettled accounts between us. Why not use this time to settle them properly?”
“What accounts?”
No sooner had he spoken than Ling Shuang suddenly stood and walked straight to him.
Just like before, she bent slightly, gazing down at him with a cold arrogance; then her red lips parted, her voice laced with a restrained fury, as if ready to devour him.
“I told you not to touch other women, but you haven’t been obedient.”
Her fingertip traced along his cheek, down to his chin.
It made Lin Feng’s heart tingle.
His eyes drifted downward, landing on her proud neckline.
But once was once, twice was twice—he wasn’t going to fall for the same trick again.
Besides, she had just said such a bizarre thing.
Locking eyes with Ling Shuang’s icy gaze, Lin Feng instead grasped her wandering wrist.
He sneered, “Miss Ling, why are you so concerned about my affairs?”
Unexpectedly, Ling Shuang’s hand froze instantly.
Concerned?
Did she really care?
Her expression faltered for a moment, giving Lin Feng the opening.
“You forbid me from getting close to other women, lock me up in your house, and repeatedly chase me in this game of cat and mouse…”
“Miss Ling, don’t tell me you’ve fallen for me?”
His voice was low, merely listing her actions, but the last sentence landed like a heavy stone on Ling Shuang’s heart.
It was more provocative than ever.
“Outrageous!”
“How could I possibly like you!”
She was flustered.
Her cheeks flushed a deep red, anger rising from being challenged.
She stared coldly at Lin Feng, panic flickering in her eyes as she awkwardly blurted, “You’re just a bird I keep. This is mercy. Don’t misunderstand. If anyone should like anyone, it’s you who should like me!”
He like her?
Don’t be ridiculous. If he could like her under these circumstances, he’d have to be crazy.
Lin Feng’s mouth twitched, but his gaze remained fixed on Ling Shuang.
It was rare to see her so flustered.
Making a proud and powerful woman so agitated was rather amusing.
“Alright, Miss Ling, I’m done joking.”
Lin Feng stopped teasing at just the right moment; after all, he still had questions to ask. If he pushed Ling Shuang too hard, it wouldn’t do him any favors.
Ling Shuang immediately realized Lin Feng was teasing her—it was hard to count how many times by now that he so easily pulled at her heartstrings. Could this really be love?
She didn’t understand and had no time to contemplate.
Right now, her heart was full of the anger of being toyed with.
“Fine, you dare to tease me.”
Ling Shuang’s voice was sharp and gritted, her hand gripping Lin Feng’s wrist in a fierce tone: “It seems I must punish you properly!”
This time, Lin Feng had no intention of begging or retaliating.
He relaxed calmly on the sofa, his tone flat but the tail of his voice rising slightly: “And how do you plan to punish me?”
