Chapter 114: The Promised Carnage
Chen Yu and Li Qing locked eyes across the blood-soaked and fiery arena of judgment.
The relief of surviving the ordeal had not yet fully settled within their hearts.
Just as all the survivors believed the first brutal round of elimination was over and they could finally catch their breath—
“Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang—!”
A more intense and continuous volley of gunfire erupted without warning.
But this time, the muzzles were no longer aimed at the participants.
Instead, they targeted those... the burly pink-clad men clutching briefcases marked with the word “Death.”
Chen Yu’s pupils contracted sharply.
Those armed men, who had moments ago seemed like cold-blooded executioners, now appeared to have received some unyielding command.
With synchronized, expressionless movements, they turned their pink assault rifles.
Without hesitation, the barrels pressed against their own throats.
Then, they pulled the triggers.
“Bang!”
The nearest of these pink-muscled men to Chen Yu shuddered violently.
A bullet pierced his jaw and exploded through the back of his head in a cloud of blood mist!
He didn’t even grunt, collapsing straight backward.
This was only the beginning.
“Bang! Bang! Bang!”
Gunshots rang out repeatedly across the empty field.
One after another, the pink men ended their own lives in the same manner.
They were not human.
They were tools.
Disposable tools, whose lives no longer belonged to themselves.
Chen Yu was truly stunned.
He clenched his teeth tightly as his stomach churned violently.
Damn it!
What the hell had that lunatic Shen Feng promised them?
To make them so decisively take their own lives?
Chen Yu had seen death, witnessed crime scenes, but this scene utterly shattered his understanding of cruelty.
This was not murder, not vengeance.
This was... an utterly inhuman contempt and trampling upon life!
Perhaps these lives were stained with sin, perhaps these men were villains deserving their fate.
But in the end, they were still lives!
Watching vibrant lives vanish so fragilely before his eyes.
Watching the blood and brain matter stain the grass beneath their feet.
Chen Yu could no longer suppress the violent physical reaction in his stomach.
“Ugh—!”
He bent over abruptly and vomited bitterly.
His throat burned fiercely, but he paid no heed.
His mind was blank from the overwhelming bloodshed.
In fact, he was among the least affected.
“Ahhhhhh—!”
Piercing screams erupted from the survivors.
A woman’s eyes rolled back as she foamed at the mouth and fainted.
More bent over, vomiting as if their hearts were tearing apart.
Some completely broke down mentally, collapsing to the ground, clutching their heads, eyes shut tight, trembling with desperate sobs.
The entire arena instantly transformed from a death game into a living hell.
Meanwhile, in Jiang City and screens worldwide hijacked by the signal,
The live chat exploded after a brief silence!
“What the hell did I just see? They committed suicide? The bodyguards killed themselves?!”
“Crazy! This mysterious guy’s a complete lunatic!”
“I’m sick... I really threw up... This is a live broadcast! How can they show this?! Where’s the platform? The regulators? Are they dead?!”
“This isn’t a game anymore; this is inhumane! It’s a massacre! The government of Summer Country won’t intervene? Letting him run wild on this isolated island?!”
“Don’t be stupid, upstairs. This must be special effects, right? Some kind of broadcast trick?”
“Oh God... I can’t watch anymore... but I can’t look away either... What will happen to those still alive...”
Panic, anger, disgust, disbelief—
Emotions spread like a virus through every corner of the world via the screens.
“Well, now it’s settled.”
Shen Feng suddenly picked up a microphone, smirking flippantly.
“Only after clearing all the ‘death tickets’ can the game be truly clean.”
“Congratulations, now 107 participants remain!”
As his words fell,
The massive airship in the sky stirred once more.
Rumble—
The cargo hold filled with cash tilted again.
A torrent of pink bills, more furious than before, cascaded down like a waterfall!
Nineteen point three billion!
A staggering 19.3 billion in cash piled in the giant transparent container, nearly filling it to the brim.
A mountain of money.
A fortune capable of driving any sane person instantly mad, losing all reason.
Yet at this moment,
None of the survivors present raised their heads to look.
Not a single soul showed the slightest interest in that staggering sum.
Every face was blank, numb, gripped by terror to the bone.
Greed?
At this moment, fear overpowered greed!
...
Chen Yu and the others no longer remembered how they left the blood-soaked grass.
Like a herd of walking corpses, the pink-clad men drove and escorted them deeper into the island.
Chen Yu forced himself upright and wiped his mouth hard with his sleeve.
But the thick metallic scent of blood in the air made him retch again.
After about ten minutes, a vast open space appeared before them.
At its center stood a gigantic silver-white metal building, resembling an airplane hangar.
“Everyone inside!”
The pink men roughly shoved the stragglers with rifle butts.
The massive metal doors slowly rose.
Behind them was an even larger, emptier space.
A warehouse of sorts.
At least twenty meters high, spacious enough to hold thousands.
Even with over two hundred participants and staff inside, it felt cavernous.
The floor was smooth cement; overhead hung cold, white fluorescent lights.
Most striking were the enormous LCD screens lining the upper walls.
They projected live footage of the outside world.
Several screens focused on the airship in the sky, magnifying the transparent container filled with cash to an incredible scale, showing every detail clearly.
More screens scrolled with dense live chat comments.
Along both sides of the warehouse were neat rows of over a hundred metal bunk beds.
This was evidently where they would rest from now on.
All survivors were herded into the center.
Shen Feng and his subordinates entered as well.
“Welcome to your new home.”
“From now on, after each game, you’ll spend your remaining precious time here.”
“There are beds, private restrooms, even showers. Of course, cold water.”
“Food and water will be distributed regularly. Don’t worry, you’ll definitely survive to participate in the next game.”
His gaze swept over faces etched with fear and numbness, clearly pleased with his handiwork.
“Enjoy your stay.”
With that, he bowed elegantly to the crowd.
Then, leading all the pink men, he turned and left the warehouse without a backward glance.
“Rumble—!”
The massive metal doors slammed shut, sealing the warehouse off from the outside world.
And with it, every last hope of escape.
The entire warehouse fell into deathly silence.
The survivors looked at each other.
In their eyes, only confusion and hollow relief remained.
Suddenly—
“Waaah—!”
A man, unable to bear the crushing pressure, crouched down, clutching his head, and sobbed like a child.
His crying seemed to flip a switch.
Instantly, the warehouse was engulfed in a chorus of weeping, sobbing, and despairing curses.
This was their resting room.
But more than that—
Their prison.
