Chapter 92: They Went Camping Again
“Benefactor, you are a swordsman, not anything else. All things follow the law of nature, so one must act in accordance with one's true heart,” said Master Golden Light.
“Hm?” Qin Xuan was unsure what he meant by this.
“Since that is so, you need not answer questions so cautiously,” Master Golden Light replied with a carefree smile. “Not long ago, another young swordsman sought me out. I asked him the same question. To this day, I find his answer quite reasonable.”
At these words, Qin Xuan felt a jolt in his heart.
Another young swordsman.
In the vast country, the tradition of swordsmen was certainly not limited to the Shushan Sword Sect alone. The Tianshan Sword Sect, where Liu Qianqian hailed from, was also renowned in the cultivation world.
However, like Shushan, the Tianshan Sword Sect always passed its teachings down a single line—one master, one disciple. Though famous, its overall strength was not great.
Throughout the land, seven major sword sects had survived to this day, standing together in the world!
Apart from Tianshan and Shushan, the other five major sword sects recruited disciples widely and boasted considerable power. The most famous among them in the cultivation world was the Xuan Zhen Sword Sect, known not only for its many elders but also for its abundance of talented young practitioners.
Since descending the mountain, Qin Xuan had heard of no other swordsmen besides Liu Qianqian. He hadn't expected to hear about one here, and apparently, Master Golden Light thought highly of him.
“Master, could you share his answer?”
Qin Xuan wanted to know how that young swordsman had responded.
“He said, ‘Amitabha is just a laugh.’”
“A laugh?” Qin Xuan did not understand.
“When one speaks the words of Buddha, but the heart holds no Buddha, is ‘Amitabha’ not akin to a laugh? After decades of studying Buddhism, I had made no progress in recent years. That young swordsman’s reminder made me realize my devotion was not steadfast enough,” Master Golden Light said, reflecting as he spoke.
Su Muqing poked Qin Xuan. “Hey, do you think this monk is reliable? Saying ‘Amitabha’ is just a laugh—that’s something people say online. He believes it too?”
Qin Xuan seemed to understand and explained, “The master gained insight after being reminded. To grasp meaning from a single phrase—Master Golden Light is no ordinary man.”
Su Muqing laughed, “Doesn’t this mean the swordsman he spoke of is at a higher level than you? He could enlighten the master.”
“I wouldn’t say so. As far as I know, there are only a handful of swordsmen in my generation. As for mastery, I doubt anyone surpasses me,” Qin Xuan said confidently, narrowing his eyes.
“Come on now, you should be more modest.”
Su Muqing rolled her eyes at him and covered her mouth with a light laugh.
Qin Xuan chuckled and said nothing more. Matters of the cultivation world were hard to explain to her; it was enough that he understood.
At this moment, Master Golden Light finally came back to himself and gazed at Su Muqing, asking kindly, “May I know your name, young lady?”
“Greetings, Master. My name is Su Muqing,” Su Muqing replied with a respectful bow.
“Your manners and speech are exceptional. You hardly seem ordinary. Su Muqing... Could you be the daughter of the Su family from Jinling?” Master Golden Light praised and then asked with a guess.
“Master, you are indeed extraordinary. You guessed correctly,” Su Muqing said with a smile.
“Amitabha. All is cause and effect,” Master Golden Light recited, then said, “Benefactor Qin, please bring the Spirit Sealing Talisman tonight. The yang energy is too strong now; matters involving spirits are best avoided during the day.”
Qin Xuan frowned slightly. “Master, to be honest, I may not be able to come tonight.”
“Oh? Why is that?”
“Master should know of the Body of Profound Yin. Tonight, I must protect a girl who possesses it and cannot leave her side,” Qin Xuan explained.
“A girl with the Body of Profound Yin?” Master Golden Light was startled, then understood. “Are you the one guarding Dongfang Qingwan?”
“I am.”
“Amitabha. In that case, I shall come to you tonight, if that is convenient?”
“Of course, it's convenient,” Qin Xuan replied hurriedly. He hadn’t expected Master Golden Light to be so enthusiastic—perhaps because of Dongfang Qingwan? After all, when she was born, it was he who set the wards at Qixia Manor.
“That is very good. You may return now,” Master Golden Light said, waving his hand. Just then, the young monk sent to fetch water finally returned. He carried two large buckets on his shoulders, seemingly hauled all the way up the mountain, yet his face showed no sign of fatigue.
“This young monk is impressive as well...” Qin Xuan thought to himself, admiringly, as he left with Su Muqing.
“Master, don’t you usually meet people only on the third try? Why today...” The young monk scratched his head, confused.
“Amitabha. That young man is no ordinary person. Tonight I must go out, so you must remember to lock the temple gate,” Master Golden Light replied kindly, watching Qin Xuan and Su Muqing leave, lost in thought.
...
Central Jinling, Xuanwu Lake Villa District.
Within a vast, luxurious villa, a young man was enjoying himself in the outdoor swimming pool. His strong physique, healthy complexion, and handsome features captivated the pure beauty in a bikini beside him.
“Li Shao, what should I wear to tonight’s party?” the pure beauty asked sweetly, pressing close to Li Shihao, eager to wrap every inch of her smooth skin around him, her ample chest pressed tightly against his arm.
“No need to choose. I’ll take you to buy two sets shortly,” Li Shihao replied coolly.
The pure beauty was so delighted she nearly jumped for joy. As expected of Li Shao—buying two dresses at once. She could hardly wait...
Yet she had no idea that Li Shihao was somewhat annoyed at the moment.
Tonight’s gathering was organized by his university classmates. He was still a graduate student at Jinling University, but many of his peers had already made their mark. For Li Shihao, it was a good opportunity to expand his network.
Originally, he wanted to invite Su Muqing, and if conditions were right, perhaps win her over. But when he asked yesterday, Su Muqing refused his invitation.
“Recently, Muqing has grown distant from me, yet she’s spending time with Qin Xuan...” Li Shihao knew the reason well and hated Qin Xuan fiercely. After all, his pursuit of Su Muqing was not just for her beauty, but also to ally with the Su family and suppress the Zhao family in one move.
Now, Qin Xuan had appeared out of nowhere and disrupted his plans.
Suddenly, a young man sunbathing by the pool hurried over in a panic. “Li Ge, something’s wrong!”
Li Shihao looked up, frowning. “Hua Zi, what’s got you so flustered?”
It was Hua Shao.
He hurried to Li Shihao’s side, stole a few glances at the pure beauty’s snowy chest, and then, panting, said, “Li Ge, they’re out there fooling around again!”
“Fooling around, my ass!” Li Shihao snapped, furious at the mention. “What’s going on? Speak!”
