Chapter 89: A Forbidden Romance Between Teacher and Student?
"Qin Xuan, what just happened?" Su Muqing asked, sounding somewhat weary.
"Oh, you’re awake?" Qin Xuan turned his head, smiled, and said, "Just now, two ninja from the Land of the Rising Sun tried to cause trouble, but I’ve already dealt with them." He thought to himself that the dosage of the powder those ninjas used must not have been much; they would wake up on their own in a little over ten minutes. Their real purpose in using the powder was clearly to knock Su Muqing out, making it easier to kill Qin Xuan.
Unfortunately for them, they underestimated Qin Xuan’s strength, which led to their miserable defeat today.
"Ninjas?" Su Muqing’s expression was odd; she simply couldn’t fathom how this could be happening. Why would there be ninjas causing trouble out of nowhere?
Qin Xuan didn’t mention that they’d been sent by Li Shihao. It wouldn’t do Su Muqing any good to know too much about the cultivation world.
"You’re not going to get the wrong idea about me again, are you?" Qin Xuan looked at her furrowed brow, a little helpless.
"Of course not. Third time’s the charm. After those last two misunderstandings, I’d be a real fool to keep making the same mistake." Su Muqing shot him a glare and sat up straighter.
"That’s good," Qin Xuan sighed in relief.
"You drove the car here? I never imagined you could drive." Su Muqing sounded surprised.
"After watching enough, it’s not hard to pick up. Now that you’re awake, I’ll let you take over." Qin Xuan was about to get up as he spoke.
"It’s fine. Since you made it this far, why not just drive straight to Jinguang Temple? I still feel a bit dizzy and probably shouldn’t drive," Su Muqing said, blinking as if scheming to be a little lazy.
"Alright, I’ll keep going then," Qin Xuan replied with a smile. Having just driven a stretch of road, he realized that driving was actually quite enjoyable. Even though this modern vehicle couldn’t match the speed of his own sprinting, it was certainly simpler and required much less effort.
The ingenuity of humankind truly knows no bounds, Qin Xuan thought with silent admiration.
Having just driven for a while, Qin Xuan’s technique had become fairly competent, and he quickly started the Chevrolet. Although his movements were still a bit rough, he handled the car with an increasing steadiness that surprised Su Muqing. Was there really anything this Qin Xuan couldn’t pick up so easily? But then, remembering his previous feats, she found it easier to accept.
"I wonder if Master Jinguang has returned today," Su Muqing said with some concern as the Chevrolet merged back onto the main road.
"Teacher Su, it seems someone is following us," Qin Xuan said calmly, having sensed something was off outside the car as he glanced in the rearview mirror.
"Who? Could it be those two ninjas you mentioned?" Su Muqing tensed up at his words and quickly looked back, spotting a white van following behind them at a leisurely pace.
"It’s not them. Those two ninjas have been rendered powerless and wouldn’t dare chase after us, and I don’t sense any cultivator’s presence…" Qin Xuan shook his head.
"It’s him?" When she saw who was in the passenger seat of the van, Su Muqing’s expression changed slightly.
"Who is it?" Qin Xuan frowned, hearing from her tone that she didn’t especially like this person.
"He’s a colleague of mine—the homeroom teacher for your Marketing Class One, his name is Li Zhengde. Strange, why would he be following us?" Su Muqing wondered aloud.
"Li Zhengde? What kind of person is he usually?" Qin Xuan asked.
"I don’t know him well, but he’s never made a good impression on me—always trying to get close…" Su Muqing replied, frowning.
"Well, Teacher Su, you’re so charming any man would want to pursue you," Qin Xuan said with a relaxed laugh, unconcerned about Li Zhengde’s pursuit.
"Really?" Su Muqing gave a faint, teasing smile. "So you want to pursue me too?"
"Ahem, that’s not quite the same thing," Qin Xuan coughed.
"Oh? So you don’t think of yourself as a man? I’m surprised…" Su Muqing quipped.
Qin Xuan felt like crying, cursing his own loose tongue. Now he was left with two choices: admit he wanted to pursue Su Muqing, or admit he wasn’t a man.
But before he could say another word, the Chevrolet had already turned onto the mountain road leading to Jinguang Temple, and the white van behind them suddenly sped up and closed in.
"Careful, hold on," Qin Xuan reacted quickly, spinning the steering wheel and pulling over to the side of the mountain road. To avoid an accident, he had no choice but to stop—otherwise, he himself would be fine, but Su Muqing and the car would not.
The white van overtook the Chevrolet from the side and stopped a short distance ahead. More than a dozen unruly young men poured out, surrounding the car.
Li Zhengde, the marketing department homeroom teacher Su Muqing had mentioned, also got out and followed behind them. He was a small-eyed man in glasses, his demeanor thoroughly sleazy, and Qin Xuan couldn’t imagine what this man looked like lecturing from the podium.
Soon, the group encircled the Chevrolet.
"Hey, Teacher Su, are you alright?" Li Zhengde, small-eyed and sneaky, stepped forward and instantly spotted Su Muqing, whom he’d been longing for day and night, sitting in the passenger seat. He was genuinely surprised.
Just moments before, a student had reported to him that Su Muqing had been drugged and taken away in a car—this had him extremely anxious.
Who was Su Muqing? Li Zhengde didn’t know all the details, but he knew she had a powerful background. Most importantly, she was an exceptional beauty!
All this time, Su Muqing had been aloof with Li Zhengde, leaving him feeling constantly defeated. Not to mention, Li Shihao had made it clear: anyone who tried to pursue Su Muqing would be opposing the entire Li family.
And what kind of background did the Li family have? They could shake the whole of Jinling with a single stomp. As an ordinary university lecturer, Li Zhengde wouldn’t dare cross Li Shihao.
But now, someone had actually drugged Su Muqing and driven off with her.
"If I could lead people to rescue her, wouldn’t that…" Just thinking about it made Li Zhengde drool—this was his chance! He’d quickly called up a few shady friends and chased after them, completely ignoring even Yang Guang’s warnings, the student who’d made the report.
But now, seeing Su Muqing clearly unharmed, Li Zhengde was furious and resolved to teach that student a lesson later.
Turning his head, he suddenly realized that the young man in the driver’s seat looked quite familiar.
In a flash, he remembered and slapped his forehead. "Isn’t that Qin Xuan, the one who beat up the foreign exchange student?"
A male student, driving a beautiful teacher to General’s Mountain—what could they possibly be up to? The more Li Zhengde thought about it, the angrier he became. He waved his hand, and the group of thugs closed in around the Chevrolet.
"Kid, get out of the car!" The green-haired ringleader, cigarette dangling from his lips, knocked on the window with a swagger.
"Li Zhengde, what are you playing at here? Move aside, we have things to do!" Su Muqing said angrily.
"Things to do?" Li Zhengde was so furious his whole body trembled. "Teacher Su, you’re a faculty member at Jinling University—how could you get involved in a student-teacher romance? Aren’t you afraid Li Shihao will find out?"
At those words, Qin Xuan couldn’t help but let out a snort of laughter.
