Although Qin Xuan did not care about Dongfang Wenhao’s opinions, it was still troublesome to be constantly provoked, especially by the younger brother of the person he was supposed to protect. Just like last time, when he took Liu Qianqian to the hotel to rest, a report was filed against him; Qin Xuan really had no patience for such petty annoyances.

“Friend, a gentleman uses words, not fists—”

The tall, handsome man was pushed aside by Dongfang Wenhao, and he was visibly displeased. Though he always tried to act cultured, if someone laid hands on him and he just smiled it off, would he still be a man?

“Keep your mouth shut and get out of the way.”

Dongfang Wenhao showed not a trace of civility. Now that Dongfang Qingwan had fainted, he was anxious, and with someone causing more confusion, how could he possibly tolerate it?

“You!”

The handsome man could no longer hold back, but just as he was about to retort, a commanding voice sounded beside them.

“What’s with you? The son of a chief physician, what a joke. Even I can tell this girl hasn’t fainted from heatstroke, and you still have the nerve to stay here?”

Everyone turned to see a powerful military officer, dressed in uniform with two stripes and three stars on his shoulder, approaching with several officers of slightly lower rank following behind.

Wasn’t this the same regimental commander from earlier?

His words still carried such authority!

The handsome man’s face flushed crimson. He had been praised since childhood, never once scolded so harshly. Not only was his father the chief physician at Jinling’s First Hospital, his mother was a department head at the same hospital!

Other families sent him favors, never badmouthed him, let alone scolded him to his face.

Though his heart burned with resentment, faced with the imposing colonel, he dared not voice a single protest. He merely bit his lip and turned to look at Qin Xuan:

“Then tell me, why exactly did she faint?”

“Indeed, Qin Xuan, can you tell?”

The regimental commander suddenly looked at Qin Xuan, his tone amiable.

Qin Xuan was a little surprised. How quickly had the commander learned his name? Was it only because he had led the charge to smash a Lexus? Did that alone make the commander take notice of him?

“I can certainly tell.”

Qin Xuan replied.

“What are the symptoms?”

The handsome man pressed.

“You wouldn’t understand even if I explained…”

Qin Xuan frowned.

Dongfang Qingwan possessed the body of the mysterious Yin. Though moderate sunlight was beneficial, standing too long under the blazing sun would disrupt her internal energies, causing a severe imbalance of Yin and Yang and leading to fainting.

This reasoning would hardly be believed by anyone present, including Dongfang Wenhao.

“Haha, what a joke.”

The handsome man immediately grew smug. “You don’t even know the symptoms, yet you criticize me? Are you just trying to stand out? Let me tell you, those who seek the spotlight without real ability only end up embarrassing themselves.”

Qin Xuan nodded in agreement. “That’s true, but it applies to people like you, not me.”

The handsome man grew angry. “And what gives you the right to say that?”

“Because I can tell she hasn’t fainted from heatstroke, and I can revive her.”

Qin Xuan spoke calmly.

“Haha, I say it’s heatstroke, and I can revive her just the same!”

The handsome man retorted disdainfully.

The regimental commander looked on, frowning. He could see that Dongfang Qingwan had not fainted from heatstroke. Normally, he would never tolerate two juniors bickering in his presence. He would have slapped the arrogant young man long ago. Mistaking a condition so obviously not heatstroke—if he ever became a doctor, how many people would suffer?

But now, he said nothing.

He watched Qin Xuan with keen interest, curious to see how he would handle the situation, evidently intrigued by him.

“Let me ask you, if she had fainted from heatstroke, how long would it take you to wake her?”

Qin Xuan asked.

“Well, ten minutes at the least, maybe more. It depends on the severity of the case.” The handsome man answered without hesitation.

“Alright. I only need two minutes to wake her—will you then admit it’s not heatstroke?”

Qin Xuan declared confidently.

“Hmph, two minutes? I’d like to see how you manage that.”

The handsome man scoffed, stepping back.

Qin Xuan moved forward and said to Dongfang Wenhao, “Wenhao, since the medical staff aren’t here yet, should I give it a try?”

This time, Dongfang Wenhao obediently stepped aside, but his face was sour.

It wasn’t because of Qin Xuan, but because ten minutes had passed since the incident, and the so-called medical staff were nowhere to be seen.

How could the medical team be so slow during freshman military training?

He resolved that if anything happened to his sister, those medical staff would not get away unscathed…

Qin Xuan knelt beside Dongfang Qingwan, took out a small blue bottle from his pocket, opened it without hesitation, and propped Dongfang Qingwan up against his knee.

The handsome man watched this with envy and regret, wishing he had played the hero earlier and enjoyed the same proximity.

Qin Xuan, however, was focused. After opening the bottle, a flow of invisible spiritual energy began to emanate. Qin Xuan gently blew, gathering the energy onto his palms, then placed his hands on Dongfang Qingwan’s frail shoulders.

After a moment—

Dongfang Qingwan opened her eyes, coughing softly in confusion.

“Sis! Are you alright?”

Dongfang Wenhao was the first to cheer, rushing over.

“I’m fine, Wenhao. What happened to me…” Dongfang Qingwan tried to stand, only to realize she was leaning against a boy’s leg, and was startled.

“Careful, you’re still weak. Rest a while longer.”

Qin Xuan frowned, helping her to her feet.

“Sis, you scared me just now—how did you suddenly faint? If Qin Xuan hadn’t been so capable, I wouldn’t have known what to do.” Dongfang Wenhao, for once, praised Qin Xuan.

Dongfang Qingwan was surprised.

When had her brother ever praised Qin Xuan? It seemed to be a first. Realizing Qin Xuan had just saved her, she immediately forgot the earlier embarrassment of being so close to him.

“Thank you.”

Dongfang Qingwan bit her lip, her cheeks reddening as she nodded in gratitude.

“It’s nothing. I warned you not to push yourself, but you wouldn’t listen. See?” Qin Xuan spread his hands. “Alright, you shouldn’t participate in the rest of the military training. Your body can’t handle it.”

Dongfang Qingwan nodded reluctantly.

She knew her constitution was poor, but she didn’t want to stand out by being the only one exempt from training. Everyone else participated; to be the sole exception made her uncomfortable.

But it seemed she truly couldn’t continue.

The handsome man stood speechless, watching as Dongfang Qingwan revived before his eyes.
