Chapter 150: The Barrier is Broken
"Shouldn't be a problem. I'll check for you and send you a text message."
Su Muqing hung up the phone right after saying this.
Qin Xuan was busy for a little longer before finally finishing the disposal of Umekawa Ikuru's corpse. Realizing that this Sun Empire Chunin had been exploited by Lin Qingyang, only to die a miserable death under the Qingyuan Sword and become its twelfth vengeful spirit, Qin Xuan felt a vague sense of melancholy.
Having been severely wounded by the Reincarnation Sword Seal, Umekawa Ikuru's entire cultivation had been completely crippled, leaving him with only some basic ninja instincts, such as throwing hidden weapons. Fighting against Lin Qingyang was utterly out of the question for him.
Even the current Qin Xuan could easily strike him down.
Even if Lin Qingyang hadn't killed him, Qin Xuan would not have let him off, because Shen Yina had, after all, been injured by him. Looking at it now, it saved some trouble.
Qin Xuan began running back in the direction of the school, and shortly afterward, his phone vibrated. Pulling it out to check, he saw that Su Muqing had indeed looked up Jin Gubang's number and sent it over.
Along with the number came details such as his grade and college, revealing that Jin Gubang was a sophomore student in the School of Science.
Qin Xuan dialed according to Su Muqing's text message, and a moment later the call connected, transmitting a somewhat angry male voice from the other end: "Who is it?"
"It's Qin Xuan. Are you Jin Gubang?"
Qin Xuan asked with a slight frown.
"Ah, Brother Jian? It's me, it's Jin Gubang."
The person on the other end replied hastily.
"Mm. How is Shen Yina? Where are you right now?"
"Brother Jian, we're at the hospital. But..." Jin Gubang hesitated, trailing off.
"What's wrong? If there's trouble, just say so, I'm coming right over."
Qin Xuan sensed that something might have gone wrong.
"The people at the hospital say we must pay the fees upfront, but how could a few students like us scrape that together?" Hearing Qin Xuan's inquiry, Jin Gubang finally blurted everything out, harboring immense bitterness toward the hospital's practices.
"What?"
Qin Xuan's expression turned gloomy.
During the previous incident with Instructor Liu, Qin Xuan had left it to Zhao Jun to handle and hadn't done anything severe to the hospital staff. He hadn't expected the exact same issue to happen again at a time like this.
"Brother Jian! That's not even the most outrageous part." The more Jin Gubang spoke, the angrier he became, nearly smashing his phone. "The most outrageous thing is that just a moment ago, the son of some deputy bureau director or something sprained his ankle, and the hospital staff escorted him straight in as if greeting an esteemed elder!"
Hearing this, Qin Xuan felt even more displeased.
"Are you at the First Hospital? Wait there, I'm coming right over! What is Shen Yina's condition right now?"
"Don't worry, Brother Jian, she's already in a hospital room."
Jin Gubang replied.
He and the other male students were all from the School of Science. The legendary School of Science was terrifyingly skewed; almost entire classes were made up of guys, making female students absolute rare animals in their eyes.
To actually be entrusted by Brother Jian and get this close to the campus belle of the sophomore foreign languages department was something they wouldn't even dare to imagine in normal times. Although Shen Yina was currently injured, unconscious, and in poor condition, it still stirred up some unusual feelings deep within them.
Unfortunately, all of them assumed Shen Yina was Qin Xuan's woman, completely devoid of any other thoughts. If Qin Xuan were to find out, he wouldn't know whether to laugh or cry...
Qin Xuan muttered a thank you, hung up the phone, and sped toward the school gates at top speed.
This time, it would simply not do to let the First Hospital off without a lesson!
He didn't know that Shen Yina's father was the president of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China's Jinling Branch; otherwise, just mentioning that would have ensured the hospital staff wasted no time at all.
"Taxi!"
Qin Xuan reached the school gates and flagged down a taxi. Although he could run at high speed, without being able to channel his true Qi, his average long-distance speed still couldn't match that of a car.
Yet just as he stepped into the taxi, his phone rang.
"The First Hospital."
Qin Xuan told the driver his destination and answered the call.
"Little Qin Xuan, Little Qin Xuan, it's bad!"
Liu Qianqian's voice came through the phone, sounding extremely panicked.
"What is it, girl?"
Qin Xuan frowned. Could something have happened at the villa? On previous nights, Qin Xuan had always stayed at the villa with Dongfang Qingwan and Liu Qianqian, and aside from the ghost cultivator on the very first night, nothing had ever gone wrong.
With him away for a single night, could it really be such a coincidence that trouble struck?
"That evil-repelling restriction your master set up... it's broken..."
As Liu Qianqian's voice came through, Qin Xuan's heart jolted.
The evil-repelling restriction broken? How was that possible?
"Could the Thousand-Glories Ghost King have arrived?"
Qin Xuan asked urgently.
"No... Little Qin Xuan, hurry back. Your Ziwei Yin-Yang Formation is currently holding the line, but I don't think it can last much longer."
Liu Qianqian continued, and Qin Xuan thought to himself that they were in deep trouble.
Although he didn't know why the evil-repelling restriction had broken, he had to return to the villa now.
On the hospital side was the life of Shen Yina alone.
On the villa side were the lives of two humans and one spirit—Dongfang Qingwan, Liu Qianqian, and Shuixian! If those three kicked the bucket, Qin Xuan was certain his master would fly into a rage and beat him to death.
That would make four lives in total.
Between one life and four lives, Qin Xuan naturally chose the latter. Of course, the situation with Shen Yina also needed to be resolved.
"Master, please make a U-turn, Third District of the Ring Mountain Villas."
Qin Xuan instructed the driver, then called Zhao Long. He trusted that a single phone call from Zhao Long could sort out the hospital matter, and he could also have Jin Gubang and the others head back to their dorms to rest.
Seeing him request a U-turn halfway through the trip, the driver grew somewhat impatient: "Young man, where are you actually going? If you'd said earlier it was Ring Mountain Villas, I wouldn't have taken the fare, it's out of the way."
"Out of the way?"
Qin Xuan was puzzled.
"I'm heading to the city center to pick someone up, you should find another car. By the way, consider the distance we've gone the ten-yuan starting fare." The driver explained.
Qin Xuan looked outside and noticed that the driver had just taken a shortcut into a narrow, dimly lit alleyway where no other taxis could possibly pass, and his gaze turned cold.
"Third District of the Ring Mountain Villas, are you going or not?"
"Not going, not going, hurry up and pay to get out, or wait until I pick up my passenger and then leave." The driver impatiently flicked away his cigarette butt and glanced at Qin Xuan.
A young man in a black robe—though his attire looked a bit strange, he posed zero threat in the driver's eyes.
"Get out!"
Qin Xuan glared at him, pulled ten red hundred-yuan bills from his pocket, and thought the driver lacked professional ethics entirely.
Last time Su Muqing was abducted by Leygendecker, hailing a taxi from the high-speed rail station to chase after them had also involved handing over ten bills, and Qin Xuan intended to emulate that approach. The villa's evil-repelling restriction was broken, and Dongfang Qingwan and the others were in mortal danger; Qin Xuan had no time to waste bickering with this driver.
"Ah?"
The driver froze, not expecting this turn of events.
"Come to the Third District of the Ring Mountain Villas tomorrow to pick up your car, remember that." Qin Xuan said coldly, sliding into the driver's seat. He suddenly realized this taxi was quite different from Su Muqing's Chevrolet and found himself momentarily blanking.
To save fuel, most taxis in Jinling were manual transmission. Although Qin Xuan knew how to drive automatic cars, this was his first time encountering a manual one...
A few minutes later, the driver stood by the roadside clutching ten red hundred-yuan bills, staring blankly at the departing taxi and unable to snap out of it for a long time. Was this kid human or a ghost? He had only been shown how for two minutes, and he'd already learned how to drive a stick shift?
