Chapter 135: My Name Is Shen Yina
Seeing that it was not Zhou Xiaoyu or Dongfang Qingwan who had run into trouble, Qin Xuan felt a slight sense of relief.
Glancing into the private dining room, he noticed the twenty or so students who had been huddled with their heads in their hands all look up at him at once. Most striking among them was a beautiful girl; anyone else might have immediately recognized her as one of the campus beauties in her sophomore year at Jinling University.
Unfortunately, Qin Xuan did not know her. His gaze swept past her, thinking that since he had already arrived, he could not simply retreat. Furthermore, the men in black suits inside the room would not let him leave; they glared at him with ferocious expressions.
"Grab that girl!" the lead man barked. He then turned to aim his pistol at Qin Xuan. "Ha! So, you’re Qin Xuan? I never thought you’d come here to deliver your own head!"
"Oh? You recognize me?" Qin Xuan asked, finding it strange.
"Ha! Go to hell. I've just scored a massive achievement!" The leader laughed while pulling the trigger.
Qin Xuan’s pupils constricted. Something seemed wrong. The identities of these men were shrouded in mystery, and their intentions were unclear. They appeared to be kidnapping the people in the room, but were they actually targeting him? That seemed unlikely, as he did not know anyone in this room.
Regardless, he had to resolve the trouble at hand first. A sharp glint flashed in Qin Xuan's eyes. He moved, his figure shifting with extreme speed, appearing behind the leader in an instant.
The man pulled the trigger, but the shot hit the wooden door panel. Realizing Qin Xuan had vanished, he felt a piercing pain in his hand a moment later, and his Type 54 pistol clattered to the floor.
"Aah!" He only screamed after a pause, feeling as though his hand had been crushed—the result of a "light" squeeze from Qin Xuan.
The four other men, who had been moving to grab the beautiful girl, saw this and lunged at Qin Xuan. Qin Xuan’s feet slid across the smooth floor. His movements, reminiscent of Tai Chi, were natural and fluid, and a profound, innate aura radiated from his body. He wasn't in a position to use his internal energy, so he had to face them with raw skill. Tai Chi Sword was the foundation of the Shushan sword arts, and Tai Chi Chuan was the foundation of the foundation.
He had used these same techniques when he was surrounded by Lei Jinde’s men while saving Su Muqing. Now, facing the four men, he struck again.
*Bang!* One man was sent flying by a flexible punch, crashing into the corridor outside the room.
Immediately after, Qin Xuan pulled and pushed with his right hand, sending another man stumbling back into a third. They collided hard against the wall and slumped to the floor, limp. He grabbed the arm of the final man, pulled him off balance, and struck his chest with a palm, sending him flying.
*Boom!* As the last man hit the ground, the room fell silent.
*Click!* Qin Xuan took two steps forward and crushed the Type 54 pistol into scrap metal.
"Damn it..." The leader, his hand bones shattered, hissed viciously, "Who exactly are you?"
"How amusing. You want to deal with me, yet you don't know who I am?" Qin Xuan sneered and kicked him, sending him sprawling face-first onto the floor.
None of the five men could stand. Qin Xuan exhaled and looked at the students. "Did anyone get hit by a bullet? Get to the hospital immediately."
"No... no one," the beautiful girl said, standing up quickly. Standing, Qin Xuan noticed she was tall, about 1.75 meters, with a pair of beautiful, slender legs.
"No one? That's good." Qin Xuan nodded. He had assumed the gunfire earlier was the men missing their targets.
The girl added quickly, "He hadn't fired any shots before you arrived..."
"No shots fired? Then what was the gunshot I heard earlier?" Qin Xuan frowned, feeling a vague sense that something was wrong.
The girl, looking at him with a hint of adoration, explained, "We don't know what happened. I was celebrating my birthday with my classmates when shots suddenly rang out from outside. We were about to go out and check when these men burst in, saying they wanted to take one of us as a hostage..." She patted her chest, still shaken.
"What?" Qin Xuan felt a surge of alarm and bolted out the door.
"Wait! My name is Shen Yina. Thank you for saving us..." The girl’s voice trailed behind him, but Qin Xuan didn't hear it; his figure had already vanished around the corner.
He knew he had likely gone to the wrong place. This operation clearly involved many people; the two large vans were proof of that—they could hold thirty or forty people. He was now certain they were targeting him. Zhou Xiaoyu and Dongfang Qingwan had likely truly fallen into their hands.
From the leader's words, he knew he was the ultimate target. The students in the room were likely just hostages meant to increase the kidnappers' chances of escaping. After all, firing guns, kidnapping, and killing in public at Jinling University was a capital offense. Since the restaurant was large and it was lunchtime, grabbing high-profile hostages would be a major advantage for their escape.
Inside the room, Shen Yina stared at the corner where Qin Xuan had disappeared. Behind her, a boy said tremblingly, "Yina, let's call the police. These people... they dared to use guns. It's terrifying..."
"Mao Jialiang, don't call me that," Shen Yina said, turning back and glancing at the boy with disdain. As one of the campus beauties, she had many suitors, and Mao Jialiang was one of them. She hadn't been keen on him, but had tolerated him due to his usually proper behavior. She had invited him along for her birthday dinner out of courtesy.
But during dinner, Mao Jialiang had taken liberties with her while drunk and tried to confess under the encouragement of others. Just as she was about to refuse him sternly, the thugs had burst in. When the criminals looked for a hostage, they targeted the person with the most powerful background. Mao Jialiang’s father was the Deputy Director of the Jinling Finance Bureau. But the coward had been so terrified that he pointed at Shen Yina and shouted, "Her father is the branch manager of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China!"
That was how the thugs had locked onto her. If not for Qin Xuan, she didn't know what would have happened to her. She was so young; she didn't want to die, nor suffer inhuman treatment at the hands of those criminals.
Qin Xuan's silhouette in his black robes was etched deep into Shen Yina's mind, never to be forgotten.
