“Hmph, who’s the boss here, you or me?” Fu Qiang snorted coldly, silencing his underlings immediately.

Fu Qiang was already in a foul mood. Huang Mao and the other drug dealers hadn’t followed his lead to work together but had instead left, intending to find another way to rescue Lei Jinde.

Those men were loyal, but their strength in Jinling was too weak; without solid backing, they couldn’t stir up any real trouble.

After all, Lei Jinde had been conducting legitimate business in Jinling for years. Though he had connections with many influential businessmen and officials through his real estate dealings, once people learned he was the drug trafficker who fled Yunnan years ago, they all distanced themselves from him.

Rescuing Lei Jinde was nearly impossible.

Soon, a chilling wind swept around the villa again, unnerving two of the younger men who had witnessed the previous incident. “Brother Qiang, what’s going on? I think we should head back…”

“Shut up!” Fu Qiang’s sharp command instantly silenced everyone.

Qin Xuan stood on the balcony of the second floor, quite satisfied with Fu Qiang’s demeanor. Although they didn’t need guards tonight, since Fu Qiang wanted to make a show of force, Qin Xuan had no reason to send him away.

Suddenly, a soft voice called from outside the door: “Xiao, Qin, Xuan, come open the door~”

Qin Xuan immediately recognized the voice as Liu Qianqian’s. He found it odd—why was she calling him so late at night?

Could it be that what he said to her earlier that day had taken effect and she was coming to confess?

He hurried over and opened the door, and sure enough, Liu Qianqian stood there just out of the bath, wearing a black floral dress, her wet hair cascading over her chest. She looked like the perfect little loli—adorable yet carrying an air of nobility.

As Qin Xuan opened the door, Liu Qianqian blinked mischievously and slipped inside, quietly closing the door behind her.

Her furtive behavior puzzled Qin Xuan even more. He couldn’t help but ask, “Little miss, are you here this late to confess your feelings?”

Liu Qianqian scoffed, “Confess to you, you idiot?”

“Then what is it?”

She hopped onto the bed, gently swinging her feet and blinking, “I just want to clear up any misunderstandings, so you don’t get the wrong idea.”

“Oh? So you’re finally ready to admit your ‘training’?” Qin Xuan chuckled.

He never truly believed she was jealous. Now hearing that, he was even more convinced of it. Though he didn’t know exactly what her ‘training’ entailed, it must have something to do with him. Otherwise, why would she be so nervous when he was with Su Muqing?

“Hmph. Actually...” Liu Qianqian hesitated, “I’m not really out here for training. I’m just here because of a bet with my master.”

“A bet?” Qin Xuan was even more curious. If not training, why would her master let her come down the mountain? Usually, it seemed she really had honed her sword spirit, so going out for training made sense. But now, apparently not?

“Yes, my master said this bet could count as my training…”

Qin Xuan laughed, “What did you bet with your master?”

“I’m not telling you. Anyway, you can’t do anything with Teacher Su,” Liu Qianqian glared at him, “or I won’t let you off the hook~”

Qin Xuan sighed with a black line across his forehead. She wouldn’t tell him? Looks like he’d have to threaten her before she’d spill.

He grinned wickedly, “You won’t tell me? Then tomorrow I’ll do something with her and see how you’re going to stop me.”

“You dare!” Liu Qianqian was horrified.

“What’s there to dare?” Qin Xuan shrugged. “I’m just curious what will happen to your bet if that happens…”

“If I tell you, will you stop doing anything with Teacher Su?” Liu Qianqian asked angrily.

“Probably,” Qin Xuan smirked. In truth, he hadn’t done anything with Su Muqing; it was just her and others making wild guesses.

Hearing this, Liu Qianqian rolled her eyes, “Fine, I’ll tell you. What’s so great about it anyway?”

“Yeah, just spill it,” Qin Xuan encouraged.

“My master says all men are no good,” Liu Qianqian said, startling Qin Xuan.

“What?” he exclaimed. “You bet on that with your master?”

“Yes. I think there must be good men in the world, so I made the bet,” she stomped her foot. “My master asked me to give examples. I thought you were reliable enough, so my master let me come down to watch over you…”

“I see. So you mean if I do anything with Teacher Su, I’m no longer a good man and you lose the bet?” Qin Xuan couldn’t help but laugh.

“Yes,” Liu Qianqian nodded.

“...” Qin Xuan was speechless.

“See? I’m so sure you’re a good guy...” Liu Qianqian began but stopped when Qin Xuan gave her a sharp look.

A good guy? Even if she wanted to compliment him, that wasn’t the way to say it. What was she up to?

Seeing Qin Xuan’s glare, Liu Qianqian rolled her eyes and changed her tune, “Alright, alright, since I’m so sure you’re a good man, aren’t you going to show it?”

Qin Xuan shook his head, “Your master made you give examples?”

“Yes,” Liu Qianqian nodded eagerly.

“And you used me as an example,” Qin Xuan continued.

Liu Qianqian nodded again, “Yes, see how much I think of you.”

Qin Xuan tapped his forehead, “If I’m not mistaken, you probably only thought of me as a man, right?”

Liu Qianqian had been training deep in the mountains with her master since childhood. Just as Qin Xuan rarely saw other women, she had rarely met other men and knew even fewer.

But she quickly denied it, “Nonsense, not only you. There’s your master too.”

“My master? The famous womanizing swordsman? You can’t really use him as an example of a good man,” Qin Xuan said with a smirk.

“Oh, that’s true,” Liu Qianqian realized, playfully sticking out her tongue.

“Go on. What happens if you lose the bet?” Qin Xuan asked.

“My master will drag me back to the mountain,” Liu Qianqian pouted.

“That’s your mistake,” Qin Xuan sighed, beginning to reason, “You and your master can make bets all you want. Why drag me into it? Besides, even if I did something with Teacher Su, that doesn’t necessarily make me a bad man.”

“Why not?” Liu Qianqian frowned. “She’s the teacher, and you’re the student. If you two got together, it would be wrong. Then you’d be no good, and I’d lose the bet…”

“Ah, kid, what can I say to you?” Qin Xuan sighed. “You and your master are both peculiar.”

Liu Qianqian glared, “Don’t talk bad about my master!”

“Okay, I won’t,” Qin Xuan nodded. “But I can tell you this—I won’t let you lose your bet that easily.”

“Really?” Liu Qianqian’s eyes lit up.

“At least for now, definitely,” Qin Xuan said confidently.
