Ryder turned his head trembling, and instantly found himself staring into a pair of deep, pure black eyes. He froze, completely motionless.

Asi blinked, puzzled as to why Ryder wasn’t waking up and cuddling her like he usually did. She was a wolf, and despite being a wolf, she was quite fond of being petted. Asi flicked her tail, signaling Ryder to come closer.

But the boy before her simply widened his eyes, staring at her in disbelief.

Asi pressed her lips together, somewhat confused.

Greed sneered, “Ha, look at him, you’ve frightened him, haven’t you?”

Frightened?

Asi let out a breath and twitched her ears. The two gray ears atop her head shifted gently.

She whispered, “I’m a little wolf.”

The girl lay obediently at his side, her dark eyes patiently waiting for the boy next to her to come to his senses. The gray tail behind her brushed lightly across his body, soothing him.

The shock in Ryder’s eyes slowly faded. The girl before him had rosy lips and pristine teeth, soft and pale. The ears atop her head, the tail behind her, and those pure eyes…

All belonged to a little wolf, Ryder was certain.

He simply couldn’t believe it—last night he’d secretly wished the little wolf could turn into a girl, and now, that wish had come true by morning? Suddenly, Ryder felt grateful for all the misfortunes in his life—perhaps every ounce of luck he’d ever had was spent on this one wish.

He was nearly giddy with joy.

Asi, seeing the boy staring at her without moving, grew a bit bored.

She spoke up, “My name is Asi. What’s yours?”

She spoke while swishing her tail. Her dark eyes seemed to shimmer with moisture, glistening, and with the two round dimples on her cheeks, Ryder felt an urge to pull her into his arms and cuddle her.

Ryder suppressed his impulse, stammering more than ever.

“R-Ry… Ryder.”

Asi laughed and repeated, “Ryder!”

Her tail wagged even more energetically, her eyes growing brighter.

She sat up and looked at Ryder with a pitiful expression. “I’m hungry, Ryder.”

She rubbed her stomach.

Taking human form required a lot of strength; everything she had eaten last night was already digested. She was truly hungry now.

Poor Ryder—when Asi sat up, he followed, tongue tied so tightly he couldn’t utter a word.

His sapphire eyes lowered, unable to rest his gaze on Asi for even a moment.

If Ryder had a mirror in front of him, he would have seen just how red his face was—hot enough to fry an egg.

“All right, all right,” Ryder hurried to get up, quickly leaving the bedroom, not daring to linger for even a second.

Asi was left sitting alone on the bed, swinging her two jade-white legs.

“Greed, why does Ryder seem like he doesn’t like seeing me?” she asked.

Greed wanted to mock her, as he always did whenever he saw Asi or Shangyuan, but this time, he held back. He’d heard Ryder was off to prepare food, and for the sake of his stomach, he couldn’t afford to anger Asi.

“How could that be! Asi, don’t overthink it. You’re so adorable—Ryder is just shy!”

Asi tilted her head, thinking it over, then smiled.

“That’s right, I saw his face—it was so red. I’ve never seen Little White look shy!”

Little White was a black dragon; so dark, you’d have to be quite clever to notice if his face ever blushed!

Greed drifted above Asi’s head, swallowing his words.
