Asi was not familiar with Red Hood Town.

Rows upon rows of low houses lined the streets, and if she wasn't careful, she might bump into a knight suddenly dashing out from inside one of them.

She whimpered anxiously.

For the first time, she showed bewilderment.

But Asi did not regret her decision; she simply could not bear to watch the boy stand there all alone, subjected to the jeers and insults of the crowd.

It was just like how she couldn't stand to see Little White bullied.

Hmm.

Although Asi had never seen whether there was a red mark on Ryder's back, she was almost certain that there was a high possibility Ryder was Little White.

And even if he wasn't...

For the sake of his fair and tender appearance, Asi was willing.

Tan watched Asi’s anxious expression, growing just as restless himself.

“What should we do, what should we do? You’re running farther and farther away from the Black Forest!”

Asi knew perfectly well that she was heading in the opposite direction from the Black Forest.

But what else could she do?

With a leap, Asi jumped onto the rooftop, then ran along the roofs to a small alley behind.

And then—

Asi’s eyes widened as Harris suddenly appeared before her.

He held a magical arrow in his hand, the red cloak on his back billowing in the wind.

He looked every bit the part of an imposing hero.

Asi whimpered a few times, and soon after, the Red Hood knights surrounded her.

“Let’s see where you run off to now!” Harris laughed loudly.

He raised the magical arrow in his hand, ready to shoot.

“Woof!”

The wolf cub before him suddenly sat down, its gray tail wagging back and forth behind it.

Its jet-black eyes reflected the golden sunlight, making it look irresistibly cute.

Asi tilted her head to one side for a moment, then to the other.

The gray ears on top of her head twitched, and she barked again, trying to be as endearing as possible.

Harris, gripping the magical arrow, froze for a moment.

Then—

The Red Hood knights saw the wolf cub raise a paw, and immediately tensed with suspicion.

But all it did was place the paw by its mouth, sticking out a tender pink tongue to gently lick it.

The fluffy gray tail behind it still wagged back and forth.

Just then, a knight standing beside Harris asked skeptically, “Harris… could it be just a puppy?”

A puppy?

Harris glanced at the wolf cub before him, which stood almost as tall as half a grown man, and his lips twitched.

“I—I think so too. Since when are wolves this cute? And besides, wolves would never do something like this; those ferocious beasts would be above such behavior, wouldn’t they?”

Reluctant as he was to admit the wolves’ might, the knight spoke honestly.

Wolves were always proud—how could they ever stoop to such tail-wagging, pleading gestures?

“You’re talking nonsense!” Harris gave the man beside him a hard kick.

“Open your eyes and look—what kind of dog gets this big?”

“And that wolf howl just now—was that fake? Don’t let yourselves be fooled by it!”

No sooner had Harris finished speaking than Asi let out another puppyish bark, her voice soft and sweet.

She tilted her head at him now and then.

Her pure, shining black eyes made Harris grip the magical arrow even tighter, yet he found himself unable to act.

Asi wagged her tail with even greater enthusiasm, then suddenly stood up.

She barked again, her cuteness almost overwhelming.

Her dark, glistening eyes made everyone’s hearts itch.

Tan exclaimed, “Wow! Amazing, Asi—they actually believe you’re not a wolf!”

Taking advantage of their momentary daze, Asi suddenly leapt, sprang to the rooftop, and darted away.

Her agile figure, and that backward glance with a smile—

“Damn it! We’ve been tricked! That cunning, wicked wolf!”
