Chapter 66: After Class, Come Into My Arms (64)
As if presenting a treasure, Asi pushed the box of candies she had hidden in front of Lu Yu.
The little girl lay on the bed, her dark eyes glistening with moisture.
“Why are you giving them all to me?”
Lu Yu reached out and picked up a piece of candy.
Sure enough, he saw a fleeting look of reluctance flash across Asi’s face, quickly hidden away.
He knew better than anyone how much she loved sweets.
“Open your mouth.”
Lu Yu unwrapped the candy, holding it in one hand as he lowered his gaze to the girl lying beside him.
There was a gentle amusement swirling in his deep eyes.
At his words, Asi’s eyes lit up instantly.
The corners of her mouth lifted, revealing two tiny dimples.
“This… this doesn’t seem right, I just gave them all to you…”
Though she said that, Asi still parted her lips, looking at Lu Yu with anticipation, barely able to contain her eagerness.
Lu Yu chuckled.
These candies must be truly delicious—he almost felt a twinge of jealousy.
Never had the little girl smiled so radiantly when she looked at him.
It was not as Asi had imagined—Lu Yu didn’t intend to feed her the candy.
Instead, his hand tipped her chin up, and as she opened her mouth, Lu Yu held it so she couldn’t close it.
Tears welled up in her eyes at once.
Then she watched as Lu Yu tossed the candy, which was meant for her, into his own mouth.
Asi looked even more aggrieved.
Her brows knitted, and tears brimmed in her eyes.
Lu Yu glanced into her mouth and, as expected, spotted a few teeth beginning to darken.
He let go, gently stroking her chin.
With a helpless smile, he said, “Still want to eat sweets? You’ve already got cavities!”
He flicked her lightly on the forehead with a curled finger.
Asi reacted, cradling her forehead first, then, seeing the undisguised laughter on Lu Yu’s face, she covered her mouth in indignation.
Her damp, wide eyes glared at him, full of resentment.
Watching the box of candies she’d stashed away from Chao Yun now cradled in Lu Yu’s arms, Asi felt a pang of heartache.
“I’ll keep these candies for you now. And it seems you can’t have this cake either.”
Lu Yu had come with a small cake—strawberry-flavored, Asi’s favorite.
But clearly, she wouldn’t be eating any for the next few days.
Still covering her mouth, Asi mumbled, “I can’t have candy, but… cake is all right, isn’t it?”
There were still tears in her eyes, but the earlier indignation had vanished, replaced by pure grievance.
It seemed that if Lu Yu said another “no,” the tears hanging on her lashes would fall at once.
“Of course not, Asi,” Lu Yu said sternly, “If you keep eating, your teeth will all fall out!”
He deliberately tried to scare her.
Sure enough, Asi’s face went pale.
“Really? Do I still have them now?”
She anxiously opened her mouth for Lu Yu to check if her teeth were still there.
Lu Yu inspected, then frowned without a word, frightening Asi into watching his face for any sign.
What would she do if her teeth were gone?
Just imagining herself without teeth…
Asi found the thought unbearable.
Her delicate brows furrowed tightly together.
Lu Yu, feeling he might have gone too far, quickly said, “Your teeth are still there…”
Asi immediately breathed a sigh of relief.
“But…” Lu Yu had only just spoken when Asi edged closer, eyes wide and pleading, urging, “But what?”
“Count for yourself how many cavities you have. From now on, no more sweets.”
“Don’t want to? Well, would you rather give up candy, or lose all your teeth?”
