Chapter 54: After Class, Come Into My Arms (52)
To be able to paste something so tightly over the mirror, and with Asi’s strength still unable to pry it off, this lump of pitch-black substance was certainly not something from the mortal world.
“Sister Chaoyun, why is there grass from the Demon Beast Lake on the mirror?” Asi sat on the floor, her legs slightly bent, her hands tirelessly scratching at the mirror’s surface. Apart from this mirror, Asi had no idea how else she could contact Lu Yu. Although she knew where his home was, she had no clue which building or apartment it was.
Chaoyun glanced down at Asi—her lips pressed together, looking so aggrieved. “Ah, it just looked pretty, you see? Isn’t it beautiful?” Chaoyun took the mirror, turning the blackened surface toward Asi and speaking against her conscience.
She had done it deliberately. She had never liked that little black snake—felt the demonic energy about him was far too heavy. Who would have thought that fellow was the Lord of the Abyss from the Demon Realm? Chaoyun was determined to separate him from Asi at all costs. She could not allow that man any chance to get close to her!
“I got it off.” Asi, focused and persistent, suddenly managed to pry off a piece. Gradually, the mirror’s surface was revealed. Asi raised it triumphantly, grinning, “Sister Chaoyun, I got it off. Don’t do that again next time, or I’ll start to dislike you.”
With that, she lowered her head and cradled the mirror as if it were a treasure. Reflected inside was a little girl—with round eyes, a delicate nose, rosy lips, and two adorable dimples on her cheeks. Asi blinked—so did the girl in the mirror.
Asi frowned and looked up. “Sister Chaoyun, why can’t I see Little White anymore?”
Chaoyun looked down, unable to bear seeing the pitiful look on the girl’s face, and coughed lightly. “Ah? What happened?” Pretending concern, she leaned over as if to examine the mirror, but Asi simply handed it to her, then lowered her head in a huff, her large eyes sparkling as if tears might fall at any moment.
Chaoyun immediately admitted fault. “Asi, this grass is from the Demon Beast Lake, so it carries the beast’s aura. It can erase the celestial aura clinging to the mirror...”
“Does that mean I can never use it to see Little White again?” Asi sat on the floor, blank and lost.
Suddenly, she stood up and walked toward the door.
“Asi, do you hate me now?” Asi stopped and looked back at Chaoyun, shaking her head, “No, I could never hate Sister Chaoyun.”
“Then… are you still leaving?” Chaoyun thought Asi was upset and didn’t want to be with her anymore, so she said, “You stay, I’ll go.”
Asi blinked, “I’m not leaving. I’m going to find Little White. He was bullied by you in the Celestial Palace, and now in the mortal world you’re still bullying him—Little White is too pitiful.”
Her voice was full of accusation when she spoke of Little White’s misfortune, her big eyes shining at Chaoyun, almost making her genuinely apologize.
Impossible. She could never forget the sight of the Lord of the Abyss looking down on the immortals at the Wheel of Reincarnation. It was infuriating! How could such an adorable immortal as Asi be lured away to the Demon Realm by him?
“Asi, I’ve heard that students here are exhausted at school. You should rest at home after classes. I’ll go look for that snake for you.”
Asi corrected her, “He’s not a snake—Little White is a dragon. You saw with your own eyes how big he became.”
