Chapter 52: After Class, Come into My Arms (50)
Asi lifted her small face and said, "Could you please move aside? I want to go home."
No one paid her any attention.
After a brief silence, the people surrounding her suddenly burst into mocking laughter, as if they had rehearsed it beforehand.
It was truly too much—bullying at its worst.
Asi pressed her lips together, and in the evening darkness, her eyes glistened even more.
"Tonight, you’re going to kneel and apologize to me, or don’t even think about going home."
Asi frowned and looked at the girl who spoke.
The girl had dyed, permed gray hair.
Her dress used less fabric than a handkerchief.
Absolutely hideous.
Still, Asi had some vague recollection of her.
She seemed to be the one who had cornered them in the restroom before.
Asi let out a thoughtful sound. "I remember you. You hit Rose because of Su Jing…"
As she spoke, something seemed to dawn on her.
Just now, this girl had been going on and on about Lu Yu—wasn’t she supposed to like Su Jing? Why was she meddling in Lu Yu’s affairs too?
"Who do you actually like?" Asi looked up, frowning.
First, she picked a fight with Rose over Su Jing, and now she was blocking Asi because of Lu Yu.
So malicious.
Jiang Xiaorui gave Sheng a sheepish smile and said, "Sheng, I don’t like anyone now. I’m just here because she hit me and tried to burn me with a cigarette!"
She hadn’t done that!
"What? She tried to burn you with a cigarette?"
Sheng flew into a rage, glaring fiercely at Asi, hoping to scare her into begging for mercy.
But that was impossible.
When Asi saw the man glowering at her, she snorted angrily.
"Move aside, I said I’m going home!"
Asi lifted her chin and spoke loudly, though with a candy still in her mouth, she was anything but intimidating.
"Otherwise… otherwise I’ll beat you up."
Laughter erupted around her.
Jiang Xiaorui sneered, "Go ahead, I’d like to see you try."
Her ridicule was merciless.
Seeing this little girl refuse to apologize, Sheng had no qualms about hitting women. He waved his hand, signaling his men to come forward—
It was time to teach this clueless brat a lesson.
Jiang Xiaorui watched as a group of shirtless thugs closed in on Asi and giggled, nestling against Sheng’s shoulder.
"Sheng, you’re so good to me."
Her grin was vicious, like the wicked stepmother banishing Snow White from the castle.
But Snow White was not slain. Instead, she returned like a warrior, appearing before the wicked stepmother, triumphant atop the bodies of countless evil guards.
"Hmph."
Asi stepped on a thug sprawled at her feet, utterly indifferent to what she was treading on.
"Ow, ow, ow! Get off me, it hurts, it hurts!"
Asi, her backpack slung over her shoulder, still looked bewildered.
Hearing this, she paused.
Ignoring the discomfort beneath her feet, she flashed a victorious smile at Jiang Xiaorui and Sheng.
"I’m going home now. You can’t stop me."
She made a point of lingering for a moment.
"I’m sorry! I’m sorry! Please forgive me! Can you get off my foot? It hurts!"
Asi pursed her lips. "Good, as long as you know it hurts. That’s what you get for bullying me."
She tilted her head in thought, then decided it was unfair for everyone to bully her and for her to pick on just one of them. So she gave each of them a stomp before slinging her backpack over her shoulder and heading home.
Jiang Xiaorui and Sheng were left dumbfounded, speechless, unable to comprehend what had just happened.
.
After school, Lu Yu went straight home, a rare smile on his face the entire way.
He was looking forward to going to the amusement park with the little girl tomorrow.
As he walked into the narrow alley, he was, for once, not consumed by negative emotions.
He opened the door and had barely stepped inside when a bottle came flying toward him.
With a loud crash, it smashed in front of him.
Blood immediately trickled down the side of his face.
