Lu Yu took a piece of candy from Asi’s hand.
“One is enough.”
The candy was coated in pink sugar; it must be very sweet, just like her.

She looked up and said softly, “If you ever want more candy, just come find me. I’ll keep them for you.”

When he saw that their shadows were pressed tightly together, as if Asi were leaning against him, he finally allowed a smile to curve his lips.
Before they reached the entrance to the neighborhood, Asi spotted a woman standing beneath a tree.

Asi ran over and was swept into the woman’s embrace.

Her fair little hand flew to her mouth and she shook her head quickly.
“Sister Chaoyun! He’s Xiaobai!”
How could Xiaobai possibly kiss her? That was just impossible.
“What about Xiaobai?” Chaoyun rolled her eyes.
Xiaobai…
“You know he’s Xiaobai?!”
Asi pressed her lips together and shot Chaoyun a sidelong glance.
That look was full of disdain.
“I’ve raised Xiaobai for tens of thousands of years; how could I not recognize him?”
Chaoyun brushed her forehead and shot a glare at Lu Yu, who was still standing in the distance.
A warning.
Stay away from my Asi.
Chaoyun, holding Asi’s hand, marched upstairs in a huff.
Lu Yu was left standing where he was, feeling a little lost.
