Chapter 32 After Class, Come Into My Arms (30)
A single piece of candy was enough to make the young girl beam with happiness, and it was her own candy at that. Lu Yu lowered his gaze, watching Asri’s smiling face, and quite naturally reached out to take her hand.
“Let’s go.”
“Mm.”
By the time the two of them left, the corridor was nearly empty; everyone else had already gone. The way was quiet.
A few classmates approached, carrying their meals from the cafeteria back to their classrooms. They had been at the stairwell earlier and overheard what Lu Zhouyuan had said. Now, as they looked at Lu Yu, their eyes were a mixture of fear, sympathy, and contempt.
But no one dared provoke him. Only one boy, who usually got along well with Lu Zhouyuan, stopped as Lu Yu passed by. He spat on the ground and sneered, “I really don’t know how women who ruin other people’s families can sleep at night.”
“Oh, right, homewreckers—why would they feel guilty? Isn’t money all that matters? Tell me, why doesn’t the homewrecker’s kid just drop dead?”
The words landed sharp and clear in both Lu Yu and Asri’s ears as they brushed past.
Lu Yu’s steps faltered, a visible chill gathering in his expression. Asri kept her head down, lips pressed tight, at a loss. She stole a glance at Lu Yu—sure enough, his face had gone dark.
What should she do? She worried silently. Earlier, a single piece of candy had cheered him up—should she try that again? But she’d already eaten all the candy in her bag.
“Why are you looking at me? Watch your step,” came his low voice, as if he wasn’t angry at all.
The girl’s brows knit together.
“Hey! Lu Yu, I’m talking to you—didn’t you hear me?” The boy suddenly grew bold, taunting as he stared at Lu Yu.
Lu Yu stopped, the storm in his eyes impossible to hide. His grip on Asri’s hand tightened, trembling with anxiety.
“Lu Yu, with a mother who destroys families, how do you feel, huh? If I were you, I’d have died of shame long ago.”
His companions burst into laughter, their gazes unable to mask their disgust and ridicule.
“Oh? My feelings?” Lu Yu murmured, loosening his hold on Asri. He didn’t even dare look at the clarity in the young girl’s eyes again.
She was such a lovely girl. Her eyes were always dazzling, as if they held a skyful of stars.
But now, she no longer belonged to him, did she?
He was so filthy, a creature struggling in the mire, yet he still dared to yearn for sunlight.
Turning away, the youth’s dark eyes seethed with barely suppressed fury.
“You want to die, don’t you?”
Lu Yu, blazing with rage, kicked the mocking boy to the ground. The others made no move to stop him—they didn’t have the courage.
Because… Lu Yu was simply terrifying.
He tore the buttons from his uniform in his fury, raining blow after blow on the boy with reckless abandon.
“I am filthy! I am!”
But why did you have to say it—why did you have to say it in front of her…
He would never have another chance—never again.
Tears fell onto the boy’s bloodied, unconscious body, mingling with the blood.
“Stop, or you’ll kill him!”
“Lu Yu! We apologize! Please, just stop!”
Another punch.
Lu Yu turned his head, eyes pitch-black, lips stained crimson, his face twisted in ferocity—a demon escaped from hell, exuding menace from every pore.
“Apologize?”
“So what if I kill someone? Won’t that make me even filthier? Go on, curse me! Weren’t you telling me to die? Let’s see who dies first!”
