Chapter 22: After Class, She Came Into My Arms (20)
Seeing As’s face twisted in anger because of her, Rose couldn’t help but find it amusing.
“Do you really like him that much?”
As pressed her lips together—of course she did. She nodded.
The affection As spoke of was certainly different from what Rose imagined. The girl’s expression was earnest, even wary as she looked at Rose, who could only sigh in resignation.
Releasing her hold on As’s arm, Rose stood before her and said seriously, “It was my mistake. I shouldn’t have said anything about him. But—”
“There’s no ‘but’,” As’s dark eyes fixed on Rose, lips pressed tightly together, her tone stern. “He’s wonderful, that’s all.”
“Fine, fine. He’s the best.”
The little girl was indeed upset. Her ‘Little White’ was so good, she would never tolerate anyone speaking ill of him.
Afternoon classes were always the most soporific. Rose propped her chin in her hand, eyelids heavy. She had agreed with As: if she fell asleep in class, As would pinch her awake.
So when a sharp pinch landed on her backside, Rose jolted awake. That pinch hurt more than any before, so much so that tears threatened to spill from her eyes and she nearly cried out.
She cast a reproachful look at As, who sat upright, pen in hand, marking and sketching in her book. When As tilted her head to glance at Rose, her expression was pure innocence.
Rose swallowed her frustration, convinced it was deliberate… all thanks to that man, Lu Yu…
She spent the whole period cursing Lu Yu in her heart, paying no attention to the lesson. But since she’d promised Su Jing to study hard, Rose didn’t leave after class. Instead, she lay on her desk, eyes full of accusation as she stared at As.
As paid her no mind, lips pursed adorably. She must have encountered a difficult problem, but certainly wouldn’t ask Rose for help.
“Rose, come outside for a moment.”
Someone knocked on As’s desk several times—she sat on the aisle. It was Lou Yun Yun, who had never liked Rose and often opposed her.
“I’m busy,” Rose replied, glancing at Lou Yun Yun before continuing to watch As from her desk. As was far more likable.
“Move aside!”
There were others waiting at the door. Jiang Xiao Rui from Class Eleven, famous for her affection toward Su Jing, had brought a crowd to confront Rose, believing she’d stolen her man.
Lou Yun Yun had always disliked Rose, eagerly hoping others would trouble her.
With Rose seated on the inside, As on the outside seemed to be an obstacle. Their numbers emboldened Lou Yun Yun, who reached out and grabbed As’s collar.
As was a transfer student and had always been well-behaved in class, so Lou Yun Yun wasn’t afraid to offend her.
“Let go!” Rose stood up immediately, beautiful eyes glaring at Lou Yun Yun, her uniform sleeves rolled up as if ready for a fight.
“Didn’t you hear me tell you to move?” Lou Yun Yun ignored Rose, bending over to threaten As.
As soon as her collar was seized, As’s gaze darkened. Very politely, she said, “Please let go.”
But no one heard her, and the girl’s mood instantly soured. Her lips pressed tight, and before Rose could intervene, As calmly removed the hand gripping her collar.
Already upset, As didn’t notice her strength as she grasped Lou Yun Yun’s wrist—so slender, yet now held so tightly—
Lou Yun Yun felt as if her wrist would break.
She gasped, tears springing to her eyes, and a patch of skin reddened instantly.
