Yan Ancheng sat with his mouth slightly open, expressionless as he swallowed the jujube pastry that A Si had shoved into his mouth.

He picked up a cup of tea and downed it in one gulp.

As soon as he finished, he noticed the young girl staring intently at him.

A Si pointed at the palm-sized jujube pastry and asked in astonishment, "Did you not even chew? You swallowed it in one bite."

The young girl looked as though she was about to stand up and lean in for a closer inspection, before remarking, "Your mouth is huge!"

Yan Ancheng closed his mouth, which was actually not particularly large at all.

He furrowed his brow, wondering what he could possibly say to salvage his dignity and image.

A Si finished the pastry in her hand and brushed her palms together.

She obediently said, "Thank you, cousin. A Si is going home now."

She stood up, not forgetting to gather all the piled-up pastries beside her.

Yan Ancheng froze in place.

So he had spent all this time with A Si today just to watch her eat?

Absolutely not!

Yan Ancheng sprang to his feet with a sudden swish.

"Little General."

A Si paused her steps and turned back to look at him.

"Little General, since you like men, then—"

Yan Ancheng lowered his head, then snapped it back up abruptly.

"How do you find me?"

"Would you like me?"

A Si’s expression gradually grew serious.

"Hmm..." She blinked her eyes, and Yan Ancheng felt his heart hanging suspended in the balance.

"No." A Si pressed her lips into a thin line and said solemnly.

"Why?"

Yan Ancheng was deeply unwilling to accept this. "I am the Fourth Prince! If you follow me, you can have whatever you desire!"

"Or, I can follow you instead!"

A Si stubbornly shook her head.

Her arrival in these worlds was entirely a matter of chance; meeting little Bai had already been a wonderful surprise.

From then on, every time A Si arrived in a new world, her greatest wish was to find her little Bai.

Little Bai was A Si’s favorite little dragon.

Therefore, A Si said earnestly, "I already have someone I like."

A single sentence plunged Yan Ancheng straight into the abyss.

He watched A Si’s retreating figure, which was utterly merciless and even somewhat cruel.

A dark gloom instantly surged up within him.

Yan Ancheng curled the corners of his lips and smiled.

"Is it him that you like?"

"Heh, since that's how it is, Little General, you mustn't blame me!"

"I am determined to have you."

"What does it matter if your heart isn't with me... I want your person..."

-

A Si carried a large bundle of pastries back to the estate.

"Eldest sister, what did you buy?"

Wei Xiaorui ambled over.

She lowered her gaze to sweep over the pastries in A Si's hands with utter disdain, then reached up to touch the milky-white jade hairpin in her hair with a rather boastful air.

She smiled and said, "Eldest sister, tell me, why would the Fourth Prince happen to send jewelry to me out of all people? And so many chests of it, oh my goodness."

Wei Xiaorui covered her mouth and giggled.

A Si glanced at her.

The Fourth Prince?

The young girl pressed her lips together without a word, ignoring Wei Xiaorui entirely.

She carried the pastries toward her own room.

She needed to quickly hide these things before Wei Jingyu returned.

Otherwise, they would no longer belong to her.

Tan had followed A Si around today and eaten quite a lot; his already round little body had become even rounder.

He sprawled limply across A Si’s bed.

He said, "A Si, Wei Xiaorui is lying, isn't she? What Fourth Prince sending her jewelry? Those pieces are clearly the ones you saw at the Jade Pavilion the other day. They must have been sent to you by the Fourth Prince, and Wei Xiaorui just snatched them!"

Tan said with absolute conviction that it had to be the case.

A Si propped her chin in her hand and blinked.

"I don't want them anyway. He's not little Bai."

Yet, why did she feel an urge to grow close whenever she saw Yan Ancheng?

Perhaps, he just might be little Bai after all.
