Chapter 152: The Young General and the Handsome Emperor (5)
The sound of a shattered teacup pierced the darkness with startling clarity.
The soldiers of the Yan Kingdom, long hidden in the shadows of the night, had already launched their assault, mercilessly cutting down the Nunu soldiers who lay in a drunken stupor. Inside the eldest prince’s tent, the air was filled with screams.
The eldest prince clutched his chest, gasping for air. "Who are you!" he snarled viciously. "Who are you! Why are you killing me!"
Asi did not strike the eldest prince down; instead, she dispatched the rest of the high-ranking Nunu officials with single, lethal blows. Ignoring the prince, the young girl knelt on the ground, her sparkling eyes fixed intently on Yan Ancheng, who lay on the floor, splattered with blood.
She reached out a hand and whispered softly, "Your Highness, I am late."
Her fair, delicate hand hovered before Yan Ancheng. The man closed his eyes, feeling the blood of the Nunu prince trickle down his cheek. A faint, barely perceptible smile tugged at the corners of his mouth.
When he opened his eyes again, he saw only a youth. The boy was dressed in black, his dark eyes brighter than any starlight Yan Ancheng had ever seen. The two small dimples on his cheeks were incredibly charming.
Yan Ancheng tentatively reached out his hand, his eyes filled with caution. His hand was quickly grasped.
The youth's voice rang in his ears, gentle and soft. "Do not be afraid, Your Highness. I am here."
Asi squeezed Yan Ancheng’s hand and pulled him up from the ground. The thin silk robes Yan Ancheng had been wearing were already torn to shreds by the Nunu prince, leaving large patches of his feverish skin exposed. Seeing this, Asi unfastened her own belt and draped her outer garment over him. She looked up at him, offered a small smile, and kept her hand firmly clasped in his.
Only when the enemy soldiers outside had been wiped out and the Yan troops entered the tent did Asi finally release Yan Ancheng’s hand. She crouched down, pulled a length of hemp rope from her waist, and bound the groaning eldest prince tightly.
Asi’s gaze toward the prince was sharp and cold. She had grown up alongside General Sima and Wei Jingyu, men who deeply cherished the people of Yan. This prince, however, had ordered the massacre of civilians in a border region of the Yan Kingdom, and he had even forced Asi to witness such depraved scenes.
"Your Highness," Asi said softly, pressing the cold, blood-stained curved blade against the prince’s cheek. "The Great Yan Kingdom is not so easily bullied, and you have no right to slaughter its people."
Her face was grave, her brows furrowed tightly. She pressed her lips together and continued with fierce intensity, "You bullied the Fourth Prince, so now prepare to be bullied by me!"
After her fierce declaration, Asi looked at her own soiled clothes and simply sat down heavily on the chest of the bleeding prince. The prince immediately fainted from the pressure.
A soldier nearby watched, timidly remarking, "Didn't the General say we shouldn't kill the eldest prince?" Keeping the Nunu King's favorite son as a hostage would be far more valuable. Was Asi going to crush him to death by sitting on him?
Asi let out an "ah," looking over with a vacant, innocent expression. She quickly stood up, glanced at the eldest prince, whose chest was still bleeding profusely, and guiltily stuffed a pile of his own clothes into the wound.
She let out two sheepish laughs. "He's not dead."
Asi pressed her lips together, feigning a serious expression. Her earnest little face was incredibly adorable.
*Asi: Hmph! Am I heavy or what? I'll crush you!*
