Ryder bent down and gently touched Asher’s head.
“Then today, I’ll stay at home and keep you company.”
Ryder spoke softly, not just for today—he wanted to be by Asher’s side always.
It was like an addiction; the longer he spent with her, the more he didn’t want to leave.
Asher pursed her lips, thinking for a moment.
Her dark eyes sparkled, utterly adorable.
Ryder couldn’t help but poke the two round dimples on her cheeks.
Soft, just like her.
His gaze immediately softened.
His sapphire eyes swelled with emotions Asher couldn’t quite understand.
“But there’s no jujube cake or sugar cake at home, and I want to eat some.”
The little girl said, sticking out her tongue and licking her lips, clearly craving the treats.
Ryder sighed helplessly and nodded.
“Alright, I’ll go out and be back soon.”
“Mm-hmm.”
Her gray tail wagged and curled around one of Ryder’s legs.
Asher looked up and smiled, her eyes shimmering like a radiant light, as if ready to pull Ryder’s soul into her gaze.
“Then I’ll wait for you at home!”
She swung her legs back and forth.
Such a sweet thing to say.

Waiting for you at home.
Ryder’s heart melted again and again, twisted by the little girl’s words.
—
“Ryder, are you home? The food at Grandma’s is ready; I brought some for you.”
Asher had just reverted to her original form, licking her fur, but upon hearing the voice, she changed back immediately.
After draping her red cloak over her shoulders, she went to open the door.
“Oh, it’s the female knight!”
“Ryder went to the market.”
Mrs. Griffin handed Asher a bag filled with fresh vegetables, smiling warmly with her eyes crinkled.
“Ryder is a good young man. Though he made quite a few mistakes when he was little, you mustn’t listen to the town’s gossip!” Mrs. Griffin chuckled and added, “But now, Ryder and you are both heroes in everyone’s eyes! No one would say such things!”
Asher blinked and asked, “What bad things did Ryder do before?”
Mrs. Griffin looked surprised. “You don’t know?”
Asher shook her head.
Mrs. Griffin leaned in and whispered, “Our Red Hood Town has been at odds with the wolf clan for ages. My two sons were killed by those evil wolves! Ryder, well, maybe he was too kind when he was young, actually went to save a wounded wolf in the Dark Forest! That’s why everyone disliked him. But, female knight, Ryder is kind-hearted, right? You mustn’t look down on him.”
“You’ll have to keep an eye on Ryder from now on, make sure he doesn’t go saving everything like he used to!”
“Those evil wolves should all be killed!”
Asher pressed her lips tight, her dark eyes unreadable.
She thought of Uncle Horace and the aunt she had never met, whom Horace had mentioned.
Horace’s wife was also killed by the Red Hood knights.
Why must wolves always be the villains?

Asher was deeply unhappy.
After Mrs. Griffin left, Asher glared at the vegetables in her hands, her mouth firmly sealed.
Muttering softly, “I’m not an evil wolf. I’m a good wolf, and Uncle Horace is a good wolf too. Humph.”
—
Mrs. Griffin stood outside the door, frowning as she suddenly caught a strong scent of a wolf.
Then, a few strands of fur brushed against her face.
She reached up to touch it.
Her eyes widened instantly.
Wolf fur!
Gray wolf fur!
Mrs. Griffin recalled the gray wolf she had seen at Ryder’s house that day.
It must be him!
That wolf has come!
Ahhh, she’s been discovered!
Asher’s true identity is about to be exposed~
