Chapter 118: [Fairy Tale] He Has a Little Gray Wolf (43)
Back home at last, Asa could finally take off her cloak.
As soon as she removed it, her tail behind her wagged incessantly, as if it had been wronged, and even the little girl’s eyes misted over.
She still preferred to have her tail and ears exposed; it felt much more comfortable that way.
Reid had already gone out to the yard to roast some chicken for Asa.
Perhaps due to the wolf blood in her veins, although Asa loved sweets in this world, her craving for them was clearly not as strong as that of humans.
Instead, she had a particular fondness for meat, especially roasted chicken.
In the yard, a fire crackled as Reid sat nearby, turning the chicken on the spit.
Greedily, Gan kept circling around, eyes fixed on the roasting chicken. If he had a mouth, drool would surely be dripping onto the ground.
Asa crouched down beside Reid, her dark eyes flickering as they stared intently at the chicken over the fire.
Her lips moved constantly, as if unable to contain her desire.
Seeing such longing in her eyes, Reid felt a tickle in his heart.
He couldn’t help but reach out and gently stroke the two fluffy ears atop Asa’s head.
“Just a little longer, it’ll be ready soon. No rush.”
Reid was now able to say several words in a row.
He used to stutter, probably because hardly anyone in town liked him, and his parents had passed away when he was very young.
With no one around to talk to, his speech became awkward over time.
But now things were different. With Asa by his side, Reid had endless worries and reasons to speak.
“Okay, I’m not in a hurry,” Asa replied obediently.
She nodded gently and leaned closer to Reid, resting her head on his leg, eyes unwavering as they fixed on the roasting chicken.
How could she not be impatient when her gaze was so eager?
“Asa, you’re the biggest eater here! You’ve already sneaked a few pieces of pastry inside the house! Why do you still want roasted chicken?” Reid chided.
Being right beside him, Asa couldn’t speak freely.
She could only cast a boastful glance at Gan.
His eyes sparkled as if to say, “The pastries were bought for me by Reid, and the chicken is being roasted by Reid. Reid wants to feed me.”
Hmph.
Asa blinked, then returned her gaze to the roasted chicken.
At that moment, a soft white hand suddenly covered Asa’s eyes, blocking her view.
“Is the chicken… really good-looking?” Reid asked gently.
Looking at the palm before her eyes, Asa thought about the chicken’s appearance and shook her head honestly. “Not good-looking.”
“Then why are you still looking?” Reid murmured softly, a hint of plaintiveness in his voice. “Can’t you look at me instead?”
Such a small, quiet voice.
But Asa heard it.
She reached out and removed the hand that blocked her eyes.
Her eyes sparkled as she looked at Reid’s deliberately composed face.
She smiled.
“All right, Reid is the best-looking. Then I’ll look at you!”
Changing her position, Asa rested her chin on Reid’s leg, her burning gaze locked on him.
Gradually, Reid’s fair face flushed bright red.
Amused, Asa suddenly shifted into her true form and jumped onto Reid’s lap.
Startled, Reid instinctively wrapped his arms around her.
The fire was just in front of them, and Asa’s tail had just swept over it.
Fortunately, it didn’t catch fire.
Suddenly, Reid’s face grew moist.
Asa gently extended her tongue and licked Reid’s flushed cheek.
“Asa, don’t play around—we’re roasting chicken here!” Reid said shyly.
But Asa’s enthusiasm was too much.
Reid didn’t want to pull away.
After a while, Asa stopped licking and glanced at Reid’s eyes, which were darting away, unwilling to meet hers.
Then she obediently nestled into Reid’s embrace.
Back in Red Hood Town, Asa was indeed a wolf~
