Chapter 112 [Fairy Tale] He Has a Little Gray Wolf (37)
“Get out of here, you despicable humans!”
The evil dragon roared, sending tremors through the knights and forcing them to retreat.
“Dragon! You are the guardian of our continent—why do you recklessly breathe fire? Do you realize the forests around you have been burnt to ashes? How are we supposed to survive like this? Who is truly despicable here?”
“Yes, who is the real villain?”
“Are you our protector or our destroyer?”
“Since ancient times, dark sorcerers have been the enemies of both dragons and knights—why would you betray us? Are you preparing to side with the dark sorcerers?”
The dragon let out a long, fierce howl. “So what if I am? It’s still better than siding with you fickle, treacherous humans!”
Asse and Red crouched behind a dead tree, watching as the dragon’s roar turned the swamp ever redder—
As if it were stained with blood.
The dragon spat fire toward the knights, scattering them in every direction.
Some even ran behind Asse and Red, never noticing the two were hiding right there.
The dead tree was instantly reduced to ash by the flames.
Red lunged in front of Asse, and the black flames in his palm suddenly surged, forming a huge shield around the two of them, protecting them from the dragon’s fire.
“All of you, perish!”
The dragon’s cry was piercing and mournful.
Its blood-red eyes brimmed with boundless hatred.
Asse stood beside Red, gazing at the giant dragon. Suddenly she said, “Red, look, there’s an arrow in its back. That must be a magical arrow from the knights, right?”
Red nodded.
Asse had witnessed everything clearly—the dragon’s flames had come too swiftly; none of the knights had time to use magic.
And judging by the magical arrow lodged in the dragon’s back, the wound was ancient, for the flesh had already scabbed over, yet blood still oozed from it.
It was a symptom of being struck by a magical arrow.
“Red, can you heal that wound?”
Red nodded, watching the black flames swirl in his palm.
“But, Asse, he’s dangerous. He’ll hurt us.”
“Dragons are supposed to be the guardians of this continent. If he despises humans so much, maybe he was betrayed by someone he once trusted. Perhaps that magical arrow was shot by someone the dragon believed in.”
Many knights around them had already been reduced to ash.
The dragon ceased its fiery breath, its hateful gaze fixed on Red and Asse, who remained unscathed.
“Little dragon, your back is wounded.”
Asse curved her lips into a gentle smile, two small dimples blooming on her cheeks.
Her crimson cloak billowed behind her, whipped by the fiery winds.
She and Red, both pale and delicate, stood out starkly amidst the charred forest.
“Ha, I don’t need your fake concern!”
The dragon snarled viciously.
Yet its gaze lingered on the black flames in Red’s hand, clearly recognizing his identity, though it said nothing.
Disappointment in humanity was evident.
“It’s not fake concern,” Asse said, her face suddenly solemn. “I’m being sincere. There’s a wound on your back—I’ve been shot before myself, and it hurts, doesn’t it?”
As she spoke, she tilted her head, her eyes innocent and pure.
She’d been wounded by a magical arrow too? Had she also been betrayed by a companion?
The dragon pondered this, and looked at Asse with a sense of shared suffering. Seeing the girl’s gentle smile and her fair, tender appearance, it felt even more uneasy.
It flicked its tail, grumbling, “I am a dragon! How could I feel pain? Only cowards know pain.”
Asse smiled softly, making the dragon even more uncomfortable.
“My friend Red here is very talented. He can definitely heal your wound.”
Yesterday I spent the whole afternoon experimenting, and I realized I’m truly suited for the humanities!
Really!
Hehe, now I’m hoping for a goodnight vote~ kisses
