Zhou Meiniang naturally sensed Shen Guodong’s burning gaze. At that moment, a smile appeared on her lips as she asked, “What are you looking at?”
Seeing her mischievous smile, Shen Guodong thought, since this was the office, it didn’t really matter. He immediately stood up and pulled Zhou Meiniang into his arms.
“Ah!” Startled by Shen Guodong’s sudden embrace, Zhou Meiniang instinctively let out a small exclamation.
Feeling Shen Guodong’s strong arms and his heated chest, Zhou Meiniang blushed and her heart raced as she said, “What are you doing?”
“I’m the one asking you that. You’re dressed in a qipao like this—what are you trying to do?”
Zhou Meiniang shook her head lightly. “I’m just here to work. Am I not allowed to wear this? I bought it last time we were in Shen City.”
Shen Guodong glanced at her clothing—it was indeed the dress she had bought on their last trip to Shen City.
His mind immediately recalled the ripple of events that had unfolded between them during that trip.
Although circumstances had prevented their relationship from fully blossoming then, they had at least established a notable connection. Now, Shen Guodong boldly asserted his claim.
Seeing Zhou Meiniang dressed so alluringly stirred a mischievous desire within him.
Moreover, holding such a captivating beauty in his arms was almost too much for even the most virtuous man to resist.
His large hands began to gently caress Zhou Meiniang’s legs.
Unable to withstand his teasing, Zhou Meiniang’s face flushed deeply as she said, “Don’t mess around. We’re at work—it’s the office.”
Shen Guodong’s neck reddened as he replied, “Isn’t this my office now? I’m the factory director. Who dares to mess with me here?”
Upon hearing this, Zhou Meiniang smiled and said playfully, “No one dares to mess with you? Well, I dare.”
With that, she flipped around, stood up, and looked at Shen Guodong from a distance.
Standing, she leisurely straightened the disheveled qipao Shen Guodong had touched.
“There’s still more to do later. Tonight, I have dinner with my cousin’s family. Didn’t you say we’d have lunch together last time?”
Hearing this, Shen Guodong nodded. “I haven’t forgotten. I remember it clearly. But it’s still early before noon, isn’t it?”

“Early? It’s already past ten. Hurry and get ready. I’ll leave by 11:30.”
With a charming smile, Zhou Meiniang turned and left the office.
Watching her leave, Shen Guodong felt his heart burn wildly.
Truly, Zhou Meiniang was a rare beauty of this world.
He thought about the upcoming dinner and shook his head.
“Fine, I’ll just go to dinner.”
Originally, he had thought that since she was helping him out, paying her a bit was a fair trade. He didn’t want to get too entangled, but now she was acting like this.
By 11 o’clock, Shen Guodong had finished handling the essential affairs at the factory.
He stepped outside and saw Zhou Meiniang waiting by the office door.
Surprised to see him out so early, she said, “Oh, you’re unusually punctual today. I was just about to call you.”
Shen Guodong grumbled, “Being an acting factory director isn’t all that busy. Might as well leave early when I can.”
Zhou Meiniang burst out laughing. “Looks like you don’t like having too much free time.”
Shaking his head, Shen Guodong replied, “Back when I was head of the supply and marketing department, I was busy and felt comfortable. Now I’m so idle I don’t even know what to do in the office.”
Zhou Meiniang laughed and shook her head. “You’re really strange. I worked hard to climb up, and now that you’ve made it, you say it’s boring.”
Shen Guodong shook his head again. “Let’s go. Where are we eating?”
Zhou Meiniang said, “It’s a place called Little Garden Tower. Have you heard of it?”
Shen Guodong’s face stiffened for a moment. “Are you sure it’s Little Garden Tower? The one famous for squirrel-shaped mandarin fish?”
Zhou Meiniang nodded. “That’s the one. It’s quite renowned here in Fengcheng and pretty upscale. Your cousin’s family really values you.”
She thought Shen Guodong might be taken aback because the restaurant was too modest.

Shen Guodong felt a pang of despair. He had just eaten there last Saturday—and had even crippled the boss’s son.
He forced a bitter smile. “Alright, fine. Let’s go.”
There was no turning back now, especially since they had already made reservations. It would be inappropriate to back out.
“I’ve heard of that place. The squirrel-shaped mandarin fish is their signature dish. Honestly, I don’t think it’s necessary. Your cousin’s work is quite good on its own.”
“Don’t tell me that now. Go talk to their elders.”
The two chatted and laughed as they arrived at Little Garden Tower right around noon.
Fortunately, the security guards at the entrance today were not the ones from last Saturday. He wondered if those two had been fired.
Zhou Meiniang said as they approached the front desk, “You probably haven’t eaten here before. Their squirrel-shaped mandarin fish is said to be the best in Fengcheng.”
“Also, it’s known to be pricey. Many officials used to eat here until they were reported and dismissed.”
Shen Guodong smiled bitterly. It seemed high-end restaurants were trouble wherever you went. Dining here was definitely not something to do in the spotlight.
Zhou Meiniang continued praising the place as she told the receptionist, “Private Room No. 1.”
Shen Guodong looked at her in surprise. “Your cousin’s family must be pretty well off. Just the name ‘Private Room No. 1’ sounds expensive.”
Zhou Meiniang shook her head. “They do have some means. After all, families who can send their kids to university usually have money.”
Shen Guodong nodded in agreement. In this day and age, going to college without money was nearly impossible.
Last time, Shen Guodong had stayed in the hall and not gone upstairs. But this time, with Zhou Meiniang leading the way, he followed her up the stairs.
Climbing the stairs almost made Shen Guodong’s nose bleed—Zhou Meiniang was wearing the qipao, and following behind her meant he kept catching sight of her most alluring curves.
In his heart, he muttered, “She really is a little enchantress.”
