Chapter 175: Sent Flying with a Single Kick

The words rang out with force, radiating absolute authority.
Zhang Rui stood where he was, looking like a celestial warrior who had descended from the heavens. Guan Li, standing nearby, was practically worshiping him. He had never imagined that the passenger he had picked up would turn out to be such an expert.
“Y-you bastard! Where the hell are you from? Haven’t you heard of Zheng Tiger, the Cleaver Prince?”
The fat man slowly climbed to his feet, clutching his swollen cheek. He was utterly astonished. How could this young man be so strong? He was leagues more formidable than himself.
“Prince? A toad like you dares call himself a prince? Get lost now, or I’ll beat you to death!”
Zhang Rui folded his arms across his chest and grinned. “A sick cat that gets knocked flat with one kick dares call itself a tiger.”
“Damn it! Just you wait!”
After throwing out a face-saving threat, Zheng Tiger scrambled into his car and drove away. He had not even bothered to refuel, so he was probably going somewhere to get gas.
“Hmph! People like that need to be taught a lesson. Otherwise, every time they see a line, they’ll cut right into it.”
Zhang Rui watched the battered Passat trail away in a cloud of exhaust and muttered to himself.
The drivers of several nearby cars, having witnessed the scene, all cheered.
“Awesome, kid! You even drove Zheng Tiger of the Cleaver Gang away!”
“I don’t care what gang he belongs to. If he cuts in line and I catch him, I’ll beat him.”
As he spoke, Zhang Rui turned and walked back toward his own car. Xia Yu was still inside. He might as well have her change cars. At this rate, it would be ages before they reached the front of the line.
Guan Li hurried after him and said excitedly into his ear, “Brother! Brother! You’re incredible! That was so cool! Have you studied martial arts? Did you come from the Song Jiang Martial Arts School?”
“Get lost. Hurry back and drive your taxi.”
Zhang Rui answered irritably.
“Isn’t your wife driving it?” Guan Li continued. “Big brother, teach me a couple of moves, will you? That whirlwind kick you just used was amazing. Show me how to do it!”
Whoosh!
When the two of them approached the taxi, they saw Xia Yu standing outside, talking to the driver of another taxi parked ahead.
Zhang Rui hurried over and discovered that Xia Yu had failed to stop in time and rear-ended the other car.
Fortunately, the damage was not serious. Both vehicles had been moving slowly; only a little paint had been scraped off the rear bumper, which had been dented slightly.
“No way. You’ll have to pay at least two thousand! How do you drive? This is a brand-new model I just bought. With all the paperwork, it cost me over a hundred thousand!”

Even from a distance, Zhang Rui could hear the rear-ended driver nagging Xia Yu incessantly.
Xia Yu looked utterly aggrieved and frightened. She could not say a word and could only take out her wallet to pay him. After all, she had been the one to hit him.
What rotten luck!
The taxi ride to the hospital had cost barely thirty-some yuan, and now she was about to pay two thousand on top of that.
“Don’t give him anything!”
Zhang Rui walked over and stopped her with a shout. He glanced at the other driver, then examined the damage. “It’s barely scratched. You want two thousand? Why don’t you just rob people?”
Guan Li came charging over behind him and loudly joined in. “Damn it! Are you kidding me, brother? Are you trying to bully her? We all drive for a living. Even if you replace that lousy bumper with a new one, it’d only cost six hundred. You want two thousand for a little paint?”
The driver flinched at the sudden appearance of Zhang Rui and Guan Li. He had seen that Xia Yu knew nothing about cars and had wanted to take advantage of her for some extra money. He had not expected two burly men to appear.
Then he took a closer look and suddenly understood.
“Aren’t you the men who dealt with that fat guy cutting in line?”
The hostile look on his face instantly transformed into a brilliant smile.
“Oh, if I’d known it was you! I saw the two of you teaching that guy a lesson just now. What a satisfying sight! I didn’t realize this was your car.”
“That’s right,” Guan Li replied sternly.
“It’s fine, it’s fine. No need to pay. It’s just a little damage. I can fix it myself.”
With that, the driver climbed back into his car.
Seeing this, Zhang Rui sighed helplessly. He took five hundred yuan from his wallet and, hiding it from the window, tossed it into the taxi.
“Take it and get it repaired at an auto service center. I have to pay you something. It’s not worth making an insurance claim over such minor damage.”
The driver refused repeatedly, but he could not overcome Zhang Rui’s insistence and finally accepted the money.

“Xia Yu, I have something else to take care of, so I need to head back. Let’s change cars. I’ll take you back to the hospital.”
Zhang Rui was still thinking about Liangzi dealing with Jiang Shunfa. He had not heard anything yet and had no idea how things were going. Still, there should not be any serious complications.
“Oh. All right.”
Since she had been in an accident and the wait to refuel was taking too long, Xia Yu also decided to change cars and leave this troublesome place.
“Little brother, you gave us a ride, and we ended up scratching your car. How about I give you five hundred too?”

As he spoke, Zhang Rui took out another five hundred yuan and held it out to Guan Li.
At the sight of the money, Guan Li began to tremble all over.
“Oh, come on, big brother! What are you saying? You saved my life. How could I take your money? No way! Put it away! If you’re not in a hurry, wait a little. Wherever you’re going, I’ll take you there for free!”
Guan Li pushed Zhang Rui’s hand away and refused to accept the money.
“All right, then. We have to go.”
Zhang Rui said nothing more. He took Xia Yu by the hand and led her across the road to wait for a taxi returning from the gas station after refueling.
“Hey, big brother! How can I get in touch with you? Let me buy you a meal sometime! If I ever have nowhere to go, let me follow you around!”
Guan Li’s innocent face and simple words made even Xia Yu laugh aloud.
“All right. If you need anything, come find me at Leisure City. Ask for Zhang Rui.”
With that, Zhang Rui took Xia Yu into a taxi that had just emerged from the gas station, and they sped away.

After dropping Xia Yu off and learning that she would be staying in the hospital dormitory for the next couple of days, Zhang Rui left the hospital—but then had the taxi turn around.
At the hospital supermarket, he bought two large bags overflowing with delicious food and drinks for Xia Yu and delivered them to her.
All her female colleagues were green with envy. After Zhang Rui left, they crowded around Xia Yu, asking where she had found such a high-quality man. They even asked whether Zhang Rui had a younger brother—or, failing that, whether an older brother would do.
Xia Yu kept shaking her head, but inside she was bursting with happiness. Compared with what she had endured the night before, being with Zhang Rui might not bring many extravagant romantic surprises, but this simple, steady support had already filled her heart with joy.
He got into a car and headed straight for Old Zhang’s Auto Shop. On the way, he called Liangzi, who rambled on and on over the phone without explaining anything clearly.
By the time Zhang Rui arrived at the shop, he finally understood what had happened. Jiang Shunfa had not come himself. He had only sent Zhang Cong with two underlings—and they had not brought the Q7, but a Highlander instead.
That had left Liangzi unable to decide what to do. Should they make Zhang Cong call Jiang Shunfa and have him personally drive the Q7 over to ransom his people? Or should they simply beat them up and take the Highlander as compensation?
Zhang Rui saw Zhang Cong standing there with his head lowered, too frightened to look up. He walked over and kicked him, sending him flying five meters into the bed of a pickup truck.
“Where’s that old bastard Jiang Shunfa? Tell him to bring the Q7 and three hundred thousand in cash to ransom his men! Otherwise, I’ll cripple every one of you!”
Zhang Rui roared viciously.
He was willing to pay five hundred yuan for accidentally scratching someone else’s car, but when it came to a despicable scoundrel like this, he would not yield even an inch.
That was simply Zhang Rui’s nature.
