Chapter 15: Who Is Outwitting Whom?
Wang Xinrou stared at He Tian with careful, intense, and puzzled eyes.
“Go make me a cup of tea!” He Tian once again exercised his authority.
The key issue was that Wang Xinrou was blocking his view of the television. Tom and Jerry... how hilarious!
This time, Wang Xinrou obeyed without protest.
And to be fair, when Wang Xinrou brewed tea, she did so with remarkable skill—it was obvious she had been trained.
“If you’re going to bring up the laundry, just drop it!” He Tian sipped his tea, eyes on Tom and Jerry, at complete ease.
Though it had been barely more than a day, He Tian’s status within the Wang family had risen astonishingly high! He Tian had to admit, he admired his own abilities.
He had conquered Wang Xinrou through martial arts.
He had persuaded Wang Xinmeng with the truth about Longya’s absence.
He Tian’s integration into the Wang family was nothing short of extraordinary.
“I wasn’t going to mention that! Since I, Wang Xinrou, have given my word, do you think I’d go back on it?” Wang Xinrou quickly forgot the efforts and resistance she’d put up before—it was just that her resistance had failed.
Even if she no longer practiced martial arts, this was something she couldn’t change.
This was the condition Wang Xinrou had agreed to when she asked He Tian to deal with Qin Long.
He Tian hadn’t mentioned it earlier, and Wang Xinrou had felt a faint trace of gratitude.
“So why are you staring at me like that? Just say what you want!” He Tian set down his teacup and crossed his legs.
“Why did my sister give in to you? Did you not tell me the truth? What exactly did you do to her?” Wang Xinrou demanded.
“That’s all? Didn’t I already tell you?” He Tian glanced at her, then turned back to the TV.
“You’re definitely hiding something! I’m sure of it!” Wang Xinrou insisted.
She knew her sister all too well. When He Tian had spoken so assertively, her sister had actually yielded—it was simply too incredible. There had to be more to the story.
“There really is nothing I’m hiding!” He Tian had no intention of telling Wang Xinrou the truth about Longya’s absence.
He could control Wang Xinmeng if she knew.
But if Wang Xinrou found out, he truly wouldn’t be able to control her.
This girl was just too crafty, too clever...
He Tian was genuinely worried she might outsmart herself in her cleverness.
“Are you sure? You’re not lying to me?” Wang Xinrou pressed.
“I’m really not lying!” He Tian replied decisively.
“Alright then! Enough TV!” Wang Xinrou immediately switched off the television.
“What now? Didn’t we do enough yesterday?” He Tian knew very well that Wang Xinrou was not the type to let him idle.
“We had a deal yesterday! We’re going shopping for clothes!” Wang Xinrou was ready to put her plan into action—to escape the curse of doing laundry.
He Tian checked the time and smiled. “Alright.”
Of course, he saw through Wang Xinrou’s little scheme, but he couldn’t be bothered to expose her. When the time came, he’d just come up with another trick—let’s see how she’d deal with that! Ha!
“But let’s be clear—the hundred million can’t be touched! You’re taking me shopping, so you’re paying!” He Tian said, not at all gentlemanly.
“Alright, alright! You’re such a miser!” Wang Xinrou made a face at him.
“Let me make some arrangements first.” He Tian was amused by her antics. Let her enjoy herself for now—once they were done shopping, she wouldn’t be laughing.
“What arrangements?” Wang Xinrou asked.
“Chen Long!” He Tian called out.
He pulled Chen Long aside and whispered a few words to him.
“All set! Let’s go!” He Tian announced cheerfully.
“What did you say to Chen Long?” Wang Xinrou was curious.
“Kids shouldn’t meddle in adult matters!” He Tian replied pompously.
“Oh, please! ‘Adults’—can you get any younger?” Wang Xinrou rolled her eyes in disdain.
Paradise Street!
This was the most famous shopping paradise in Tianhai. The name spoke for itself.
Here, malls stood side by side, big and small shops were countless, and you could buy anything in the world.
Wang Xinrou was perfectly at home here, leading He Tian from store to store with a single mission: to buy clothes!
Casual, sporty, formal—
All kinds.
He Tian was a born clothes horse.
With each outfit, he looked like a different person, but one thing never changed: he was handsome—handsome to an absurd degree!
He Tian was quite pleased with himself.
Look at this! This is what a real man looks like—handsome beyond words!
Wang Xinrou’s original purpose of buying clothes to avoid doing laundry quietly shifted into buying clothes just to see He Tian in different outfits.
She was swiping her card with impressive enthusiasm—no need to mention how frequent it was...
“That’s seventy-three sets! Even wearing one a day, it’ll take more than two months! Still not enough?” As they left yet another store, He Tian glanced at the ever more excited Wang Xinrou, his own enthusiasm beginning to wane.
He realized that, even as a king of soldiers and a member of Dragon Soul, when it came to shopping marathons and trying on clothes, he was hopelessly outmatched by women.
At least he didn’t have to carry a mountain of shopping bags, as some novels described—stores here would deliver everything straight to your home.
Still, this was getting to be a bit much for him.
“One last store! The clothes there are amazing—so complete!” Wang Xinrou dragged He Tian along.
Two months’ worth? That was nowhere near enough. In Wang Xinrou’s plan, she needed at least three months of new outfits, one per day!
As for the money spent?
She really didn’t care.
Not to mention that Wang Xinmeng was wealthy; just the hundred million in Wang Xinrou’s own control gave her all the confidence she needed. He Tian wouldn’t let her spend it? Hah—she was holding the money now!
In fact, Wang Xinrou was spending He Tian’s money.
Heh heh... consider it a little revenge!
“I’ll be honest with you—even if you buy all these clothes, you’ll still have to do the laundry!” He Tian decided to lay out his cards.
Wang Xinrou blinked her eyes.
“He Tian, do you know how much that brown casual outfit from the last store cost?” Wang Xinrou took his arm.
“I didn’t check the price! You’re paying—why should I care?” He Tian was quite indifferent to the fact that he was mooching off her.
Come on, not just anyone can be a kept man—you need the right assets!
“That set was sixty-six thousand! It requires special dry cleaning, or else it’ll be ruined! Do you really want to see me ruin those clothes? So wasteful and unthrifty!” Wang Xinrou bared her fangs—this was her true strategy!
Expensive! High-quality!
These clothes couldn’t just be washed in any ordinary way—they required special equipment and dry cleaning.
In this way, Wang Xinrou could escape her fate!
“So that’s why you kept choosing the expensive ones! Alright, let’s keep shopping!” He Tian laughed. Wang Xinrou’s little schemes were still well within his control.
“Still have some tricks up your sleeve? Hah! Maybe you’ve just accepted defeat and want me to spend a little more. But remember, it’s your own money!” Wang Xinrou was delighted inside. Outsmarting He Tian felt truly satisfying.
“Welcome!”
The hostess at the entrance was exceptionally beautiful! Just by standing there, it was clear that this shop was not for the faint of wallet.
The clothes inside were indeed impressive.
Every brand imaginable was present.
Wang Xinrou’s excitement was still high.
Beyond feeling she’d outmaneuvered He Tian, she was now genuinely obsessed with seeing him try on different styles.
For instance, when he donned a suit, he exuded the aura of an elite professional—the impression was immediate.
In sportswear, he had the bearing of a martial arts master.
In casual clothes, he looked like a prince come to play in the mortal world.
And so on...
Every style revealed a different side of He Tian.
Limitless change!
In Wang Xinrou’s eyes, he was the very definition of versatility.
Even within the same style, different colors and cuts looked unique on him. It truly left Wang Xinrou in awe.
She found herself more and more curious about He Tian.
She swore she would figure him out.
Who exactly was this man?
What? Is it dangerous for a woman to become curious about a man?
Wang Xinrou scoffed at the idea.
Danger? With He Tian’s looks and skills, if everything else was good, Miss Wang wouldn’t mind pursuing this handsome guy herself!
“How about this set? Blue... I want to see if, when you wear it, I’ll feel like the sky is right by my side!” Wang Xinrou eagerly picked out a blue casual outfit, holding it against He Tian.
“Come on! How many sets have I tried already?” He Tian had never tried on so many clothes in his life!
A debut experience, indeed.
But after so many outfits, the novelty was wearing thin.
“Just one more!” Wang Xinrou clung to his arm, using her most coquettish tone. As for what others thought—please, as far as Miss Wang was concerned, who cared? Good-looking guy and pretty girl—don’t be too jealous!
“One last one, then.” He Tian agreed, partly because he liked the look of the outfit. The craftsmanship was good, blue suited him, and the style was exactly to his taste.
A few people nearby were already watching He Tian and Wang Xinrou.
Especially He Tian.
Wang Xinrou had made him try on several outfits already, and his chameleon-like charisma had astonished them.
Now, as he changed into another, all eyes were on him.
Wang Xinrou was proud—her excitement grew with every glance they attracted. Typical of a young woman—proof that Miss Wang was still a girl at heart.
Of course, she would never admit it.
He Tian emerged, fully dressed.
Clad in blue, accented with white.
With his build, the outfit evoked a sense of the boundless sky.
“He Tian, I’m actually jealous of you!” Wang Xinrou took his arm, grinning.
“Let me warn you—don’t fall for me! Even if you do, you’ll have to get in line!” He Tian boasted shamelessly.
“Oh, please! Could you be any more narcissistic?” Wang Xinrou was speechless.
“I’ll pay for this gentleman’s outfit,”
Suddenly, a woman’s voice rang out.
He Tian and Wang Xinrou turned, and instantly saw a truly stunning woman...
