Chapter 142: Shenfeng’s Foul Mouth
Jakarta International Airport!
The plane bound for Hong Kong, China, slowly soared into the clouds...
In first class, He Tian, Chou, Lazy Cat, and Shen Feng were seated together. It had been three days since they parted ways with White Shark. Over these three days, the four of them had traveled leisurely from the islands in eastern Indonesia to Jakarta, just like ordinary tourists. They had even spent a day sightseeing in Jakarta before finally boarding their flight to leave.
Black Shark's attention was currently not on He Tian and his group, but focused squarely on White Shark and Tiger Shark. He Tian had kept an eye on the news over the last three days, but unfortunately, there had been no reports regarding the matter. However, the Jakarta underworld seemed to be in chaos during these past few days. It appeared that the internal strife within the White Shark organization had spread to a much wider scope. Of course, none of this had anything to do with He Tian anymore.
Overall, despite some thrilling moments, this operation had been highly rewarding for He Tian. The Wang sisters would no longer be targeted by this assassin organization, and the task entrusted to him by Master Hai was complete. Furthermore, possessing such information meant that He Tian now held leverage over Master Hai. Of course, He Tian wouldn't speak of it; as long as Master Hai kept him satisfied, it would remain an unspoken secret.
Most importantly, He Tian had traced the information regarding the person who placed the order: Hokkaido, Japan. With this lead, he might be able to uncover further clues and, by following the trail, eventually identify the true mastermind behind the scenes. The gain of three billion US dollars had also significantly padded He Tian's pockets. This meant that if Wang Xinrou’s business ventures developed well, he could deploy more funds to support her at any time.
He Tian was becoming increasingly interested in business development. Well, at its core, he was simply more interested in the lifestyle of an ordinary person. And right now, he couldn't wait to return.
Chou gently nudged He Tian’s arm.
"What's wrong?" He Tian looked at Chou, puzzled. Chou seemed to have something on his mind but was struggling to speak, which surprised He Tian. Though Chou wasn't exactly an outgoing person, he was never one to stammer or hesitate.
"It’s been a while since I went 'hunting'," Chou said softly with a faint smile.
"You need money?" He Tian understood, a look of realization dawning on his face.
"I need to send some money over there periodically," Chou replied quietly.
"To help the people you’ve been supporting?" He Tian slapped his forehead. He had been so busy lately that he had truly forgotten about Chou’s situation.
Chou nodded earnestly and said, "They need my money."
"Chou, do you know the saying, 'Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime'?" He Tian said in a low voice. "Your kindness and your relief efforts might be fueling their laziness and dependency, causing them to lose their drive to improve themselves."
"Perhaps you're right, but I don't know how to do anything else. I can only give them money. And the government..." Chou insisted.
"Chou, there have been too many things going on lately, and I haven't had the time to discuss this with you. Tell you what, I can give you the money, but not right now. Give me some time, and I will provide you with a report on their actual situation. How about that? If you still feel the same way after reading it, then I’ll have nothing more to say," He Tian said with extreme seriousness.
"The way you put it, I’m starting to think there must be a problem," Chou said. "Maybe I should just go back and see for myself."
"That works too," He Tian said firmly. "But you must promise me that no matter what you see, you are not to act rashly. Tell me the situation, and we will face it together. How does that sound?"
"Alright," Chou looked at He Tian and nodded.
Chou was not a fool, nor was he naively ignorant. He simply lacked interest in managing wealth or teaching others how to be self-sufficient, and he didn't know how to go about it. He didn't want to think about other aspects of it, but He Tian’s repeated hints had left him feeling deeply unsettled. To some extent, Chou would have preferred to keep pretending, but the thought that the people he wanted to help might be living even worse than before forced him to face the issue. Avoiding the problem was not a solution.
Watching the contemplative Chou, He Tian sighed inwardly. Chou’s previous methods had been wrong. While his intentions were inherently good, his approach was flawed, and in a way, it had actually caused harm to Chou—harming his kindness and his years of persistence. Although He Tian hadn't investigated it, he could piece together the general situation. He could even imagine how enraged Chou would be once he learned the truth.
However, He Tian had to set Chou’s situation aside for the moment. He found Shen Feng, needing to communicate with him further.
"Have you pinpointed a more specific location?" He Tian asked softly. Shen Feng’s computer was displaying a detailed map. It was clearly a map of Hokkaido, Japan, specifically the city of Hakodate.
"It’s basically confirmed. Once we reach Hakodate, let me investigate through the local network, and I'll be able to identify which computer was used to execute the transaction," Shen Feng said with a smile. "The other party’s skills are very, very good, and they were extremely cautious, bouncing through so many locations. Finding them really isn't easy! It’s fortunate that we could trace it from the White Shark’s end. If we had started midway, even I wouldn't have any confidence in finding them!"
"Hearing you say that actually makes me feel a bit more relieved," He Tian said with a faint smile.
"What do you mean, Boss?" Shen Feng didn't quite understand.
"It’s simple. If it were easy to trace back to Hakodate, Hokkaido, then there would be little chance that the person left any actual clues there. Conversely, the harder it was to trace to Hakodate, the more likely they were to have left some traces behind. That is what will give us more leads," He Tian explained.
"Oh, I see! You’re right! I’m not bragging, but if someone tried to track this midway, there isn't a person on earth who could find them. And tracing from the terminal, there are no more than five people in the world who could complete this task. Boss, I just happen to be one of those five," Shen Feng said, looking rather smug.
He Tian endured Shen Feng’s self-congratulation. He had to admit that Shen Feng’s ability in this area was truly impressive, and he had made a major contribution this time. Leaving aside the lead to Hakodate, just intercepting the information from Black Shark and getting them off the yacht in time was a massive service. Of course, He Tian wouldn't say that, because he knew that if he gave Shen Feng an opening, he would demand many rewards—which would inevitably lead back to the number of treasures. There were only fourteen, and He Tian didn't want the count to decrease any further.
"Boss, who exactly are you tracking?" Shen Feng asked, his face full of curiosity.
"Don't ask about things you shouldn't. As for who, this person placed an order to harm the Wang sisters. As their protector, how could I stand by and do nothing? How could I not try my best to track them down? And as my brother, wouldn't you, 'Crazy Feng,' do your best to help me?" He Tian said seriously.
"I will! I’ll do my absolute best to help!" Shen Feng replied with extreme sincerity.
"Good, that’s a real brother," He Tian patted Shen Feng’s shoulder, his face filled with satisfaction.
"But Boss, coming back to the point, honestly speaking, was my contribution this time not huge? First, I got hold of Sang Kun, otherwise, we couldn't have boarded White Shark Island so smoothly. Then I helped you track down such important information, handled the transfers, and detected Black Shark’s conspiracy? That saved everyone’s life!" Shen Feng became more and more excited. "Boss, tell me, tell me, with such a great contribution, don't you want to reward me?"
"Alright, I admit your contribution is great. So, what kind of reward do you want? Money?" He Tian asked with a smile.
"Money? Boss, if we brothers are still talking about money, it’s too vulgar! How about this... how about we reduce the number of treasures?" Shen Feng blinked and smiled.
"Reduce them?" He Tian’s eyes widened.
"Just... two, how about reducing it by two?" Shen Feng had been thinking about which treasures to take, but honestly, he couldn't bear to part with any of them. So, he was always looking for an opportunity to reduce the count—every little bit helped.
"Two?" He Tian stared.
"Fine, Boss, you are really stingy! One, just reduce it by one, that should be okay, right?" Shen Feng bit his lip, stomping his foot in frustration. He deeply regretted having opened his mouth to mention fifteen in the first place. He had recalled the moment carefully—it seemed He Tian hadn't demanded any specific number at the time; it was he, Shen Feng, who had suggested fifteen! He had been kicking himself in private ever since for being so foolish.
"Not a single one less! Little Crazy, that’s not how you negotiate a contribution. We are a team! Talking to me about 'contributions' really hurts my feelings. I need a moment to recover from this trauma! Keep quiet for a while!" He Tian immediately closed his eyes.
Shen Feng was left speechless.
