Chapter 133: Interception and Ambush
He Tian and Chou had not yet returned to Longhai Garden when He Tian received a call from Lan Ji. His expression turned grim instantly.
"Chou, speed up and head back to Longhai Garden! Almost at the same time, Xinmeng was intercepted on her way home! The villa has also been attacked!" He Tian’s tone was dark, his face filled with murderous intent.
The period of calm had not caused He Tian to lower his guard for even a second. He had been waiting for danger to strike, yet when it finally arrived, he felt an uncontrollable surge of fury. Chou immediately pushed the car to its maximum speed.
"What is the current situation?" Chou asked in a deep voice.
"The intruders inside the villa have been subdued! Yao Rao has gone after the ones who targeted Xinmeng, and Lu Si has already brought Xinmeng back to the villa!" He Tian replied coldly.
Chou didn't ask further, simply pressing the accelerator a bit more.
At the entrance of Longhai Garden, security was significantly tighter. Clearly, the incident at Villa No. 3 had put the security department on high alert. He Tian did not see Lin Guang, but they were stopped for a security check. Although He Tian was impatient, he cooperated. He knew that the more thorough their inspections were, the safer his villa would be.
After passing through, He Tian returned to Villa No. 3. Chen Long and the others had gathered all the construction workers together. He Tian could see that some of the workers were visibly terrified by the commotion. He stepped out of the car, ignored them, and walked straight into the villa.
Inside the living room, Wang Xinmeng and Wang Xinrou were both there. Seeing that neither had any injuries, He Tian finally let out a breath of relief. However, he scanned the room and noticed that Lazy Cat was missing.
"Cat Brother went to support Yao Rao! He didn't lose them... he should be able to catch the person," Shen Feng said, noticing He Tian’s gaze and stepping closer to whisper.
"Good! Are the workers outside safe?" He Tian asked.
"Absolutely safe. There was never any real danger among the workers; this individual had just snuck in. We spotted and caught him as soon as he entered! No harm was done. It was only the one who fled that caused some trouble, but fortunately, Lu Si and Yao Rao were very careful, so nothing went wrong," Shen Feng whispered.
"Little Madman, go over there. Give every worker five thousand yuan as a 'calming fee' and tell them to keep working. Increase the bonus even further; I need them to speed up construction!" He Tian said firmly.
"I’ll handle it immediately!" Shen Feng nodded and headed out with Chou.
He Tian sat down across from Wang Xinmeng and Wang Xinrou, observing the two sisters who seemed relatively calm. Qing Wu, Lan Ji, and Lu Si exchanged glances and quietly slipped out of the hall, leaving the space to them.
"Xinmeng, you weren't hurt, were you?" He Tian asked with concern.
"I'm fine... I was already prepared for something like this," Wang Xinmeng said, shaking her head gently.
"Xinrou, you weren't too scared, were you?" He Tian nodded and looked at Wang Xinrou.
"Don't think of me as so fragile. I'm fine," Wang Xinrou said, looking at him. "This time, were you able to track anything down?"
"Not yet, but I’ll interrogate them myself later, and I hope to get some clues. Xinmeng, Xinrou, you’ve seen for yourselves how powerful the people around me are. We aren't lacking anything now except for leads. As long as we get a lead, we can keep tracking them down. You must rest assured of that. My previous advice stands: don't take any impulsive actions; just carry on as usual." He Tian had to emphasize this again. He was worried that they might take risks for the sake of finding answers—something he did not want to see.
"Don't worry, we both understand the importance of that. We just hope that clues appear so we can find the person behind this as soon as possible. When the time comes... I want to slaughter them myself," Wang Xinmeng said, grinding her teeth, her words dripping with malice.
"It's good that you understand," He Tian smiled at Wang Xinrou. "Xinrou, it seems you need to communicate with President Cao. Tongda Auto Repair is about to acquire a dozen more 4S dealerships!"
"What's going on?" Wang Xinrou was surprised by the sudden shift in topic.
"It's a benefit from Young Master Hai. The mercenary organization from last time was working with him, but he wasn't involved in the assassination attempt. He’s had a falling out with them and gave me all the information he had on that group," He Tian said with a smile. "These partnership opportunities—what else could you call them but a benefit?"
"Did you promise Young Master Hai that you would deal with that organization?" Wang Xinmeng asked, looking at him with concern. Her ability to shift her focus was impressive.
"It’s something that has to be dealt with sooner or later. They can't target us and expect to stay free. However, with what happened today, the plan will be pushed back slightly. Let’s see who is behind this first," He Tian said.
"Just be careful," Wang Xinmeng said concernedly.
"Don't worry! Xinrou, remember to tell President Cao the news," He Tian continued. "We are currently refining the company's personnel, and I hope you can take this opportunity to come up with a comprehensive plan for our current industries. This is something you must complete yourself; I need to step up your training."
"Hmph, it sounds like you're underestimating me! Just wait and see the results I'll produce," Wang Xinrou said, pouting in indignation.
"I'll be waiting for those results," He Tian turned back to Wang Xinmeng. "Speaking of which, I'm now a part of the Mengrou Clothing Group! Have the advertisements been released? Has the impact from the previous incident faded?"
"Yes, the negative influence has actually turned into something more positive. Our menswear line is starting to really hit the market. With your capital injection, we’ve also made moves in the women's market. Seeing my little sister playing such a big game, I can't stay stagnant as her sister!" Wang Xinmeng said with a smile.
"That's great! Focus your energy on your respective companies, and leave the rest to me!" He Tian stood up and said cheerfully.
When he went back outside, the workers had resumed their tasks. Furthermore, the fear and panic had vanished from their faces, replaced by excitement. Indeed, for them, the best way to eliminate unease was money. Sometimes, one had to admire the power of wealth; it could truly accomplish many things that seemed difficult.
"Where is he?" He Tian asked Shen Feng.
"In the basement," Shen Feng replied.
"Any news from Yao Rao and Lazy Cat?" He Tian checked his watch.
"They are on their way back. They've caught the person!" Shen Feng said. "Shall we go to the basement first?"
"Let's go," He Tian headed to the basement immediately, with Chou following. Qing Wu, Lu Si, and Lan Ji returned to stay with the sisters.
The person detained in the basement was a young man of about twenty-three or twenty-four. At first glance, he looked no different from an ordinary laborer. However, if one looked closely, he possessed a temperament that didn't belong to a construction worker. That was exactly what Shen Feng and the others had noticed, allowing them to catch him early. Otherwise, he might have posed a real threat to Wang Xinrou.
The man was tied up, his eyes locked on He Tian, Chou, and Shen Feng as they entered.
"Are you going to talk voluntarily, or do I have to make you?" He Tian squatted down, looking at the young man with a faint smile.
The man didn't intend to speak and simply closed his eyes.
"Interesting! That fits my theory about you. As a killer, it's impossible for you to talk so easily. But in my experience, a killer's bones aren't actually that hard. I believe I'll experience that firsthand with you very soon," He Tian smiled, but his expression shifted into something else entirely. He reached out, grabbed the young man’s hair, and yanked his head back.
He Tian truly transformed into a demon then. Even Shen Feng and Chou were shocked by the sight. A variety of inhuman screams echoed through the basement. Even the most elite agents would break under He Tian’s methods, let alone a mere killer.
He Tian successfully pried his mouth open.
"Little Madman, move him to another spot. Have Lazy Cat interrogate the other one himself. Tell me as soon as you have the answers," He Tian said, clapping his hands and walking out of the basement.
He skipped the main entrance, went upstairs to his room, and changed his clothes, which were already stained with blood. He opened his computer to look up some information, utilizing his access as a member of Dragon Soul to dig for more detailed data. He didn't stop until Shen Feng knocked on his door to report.
