Chapter 112: Wukong Wants to Eat Meat
He Tian broke into a smile at once and studied Wang Xinrou closely.
“What are you trying to do...” Wang Xinrou quickly put away her aggrieved expression and looked at him guardedly.
“You’re worried about me. Does that mean you really like me? Is that your confession to me?” He Tian blinked, a triumphant smile tugging at the corners of his mouth.
Wang Xinrou had originally wanted to throw out a reply along the lines of, Think whatever you want. That would at least give He Tian a vague answer.
But...
The moment she saw that smug look on his face, she immediately abandoned the idea.
“Annoying He Tian, when are you going to stop being so full of yourself?” Wang Xinrou said helplessly. “Why is it that no matter what happens, you can always drag it back to that? I’ve said it a thousand times, ten thousand times: this young lady could never possibly like you... Still, I have to say, if you keep saying it like this over and over again, does that mean you actually want to confess to me? I advise you to give up on that idea as soon as possible... because I’ll reject you without mercy!”
“I was only asking. Why are you saying so much? Let me analyze this. What kind of mindset is that?” He Tian said with a smile, then added with deliberate seriousness.
“Analyze your head!” Wang Xinrou changed her tone again. “Brother He Tian, tell me how Wukong helped you cultivate! Tell me, please!”
“Even if I did, you wouldn’t understand. Enough, let’s go train,” He Tian said, pulling her along.
“Tell me anyway! Maybe I’ll suddenly understand!” Wang Xinrou pleaded.
“Suddenly understand? Are you the three-year-old, or am I?” He Tian was utterly speechless.
“Hmph... Fine, don’t tell me then. I don’t care anymore! Stop tugging at me!” Wang Xinrou shook off He Tian’s hand in a huff.
“Little brat.” Looking at her, He Tian couldn’t help but smile.
He gave Wang Xinrou a few pointers and let her figure the rest out on her own.
Then He Tian slowly practiced his punches.
He had already stepped into the upper stage of the third level of internal force; he could even attempt to break through to the next level.
Compared with where he had originally been, this was an enormous improvement.
A full small tier.
Strictly speaking, it was even a bit more than a small tier. After all, He Tian had not even reached the peak of the middle stage of the third level before.
Such rapid progress brought tremendous change to He Tian.
And that much change was, in truth, hard for him to get used to.
He had never experienced such a dramatic leap before... He needed time to slowly accept it all.
“What’s the matter, Cat Brother?” Seeing Lazy Cat circle around him with his eyes fixed on him, He Tian knew why, but it still felt strangely awkward.
“That’s not right. How did you improve so much all at once?” Lazy Cat said, his face full of suspicion. “Didn’t you say it would take three months before that batch of golden medicinal insects was ready? Did you get some other heavenly treasure and keep it from us?”
“Cat Brother, do you really think that’s possible?” He Tian spread his hands. “There really isn’t any so-called heavenly treasure on me.”
“Then tell me how you improved this much—in one night, no less!” Lazy Cat asked.
“It was Wukong,” He Tian could only tell the truth.
“What? Wukong?” Lazy Cat stared at him in shock, his face full of confusion.
“Yeah.” He Tian briefly explained what had happened.
“Cat Brother, help me make sense of it. What exactly was that hot current Wukong gave me? And how could I absorb it so easily, without feeling the slightest rejection? Also... is Wukong all right now?” He Tian asked.
Lazy Cat knew a bit more about internal-force cultivation than He Tian did. In terms of broad knowledge and experience, he might know things He Tian did not. So He Tian did not mind asking humbly about the matter.
“Strange... I can’t explain it either,” Lazy Cat said with a frown, shaking his head slightly.
He Tian sighed.
“Well, forget it. Anyway, you got tremendous benefit from this. Kid, be content. At the very least, it saved you a year and a half of cultivation time. At the pace you were moving before, it would have taken you a year and a half just to reach where you are now,” Lazy Cat said with a laugh.
“I’m just worried about Wukong,” He Tian said. He understood the logic, but he still could not relax when it came to Wukong.
“Wukong should be fine... No matter how close it is to you, it wouldn’t sacrifice its own life just to help you make such a small gain,” Lazy Cat said with a smile. “I’m planning to start remodeling the area around the villa today. Do you have anything else to tell me?”
“How could I not trust you, Cat Brother? But the parts we designed must not become known to anyone outside. As long as we do that, it’ll be fine. I’m going to check on Wukong first... No, I still can’t relax!” And He Tian hurried off.
“This kid really does have incredible luck. But is Wukong really just a monkey? Damn it, even if it’s some spirit beast, it doesn’t seem like an ordinary one,” Lazy Cat said with an envious shake of his head.
He Tian returned to his room.
Wukong had already awakened.
He Tian was overjoyed at once and hurried to crouch beside it.
“Wukong, how do you feel? Why were you so foolish? Why did you do that? I’ve been improving all along, just a little slowly. You didn’t need to do this!” He Tian said painfully, cupping Wukong’s monkey face.
He could sense Wukong’s spiritual exhaustion, and that made his heart ache all the more.
“Chi, chi!” Wukong gestured to communicate with him, pointing at itself and then at He Tian.
He Tian guessed at what Wukong wanted to say.
It was nothing more than that it wanted to help him...
And that moved He Tian even more.
“Wukong... tell me, did this hurt you? Can you recover?” He Tian asked.
Wukong nodded.
Only then did He Tian finally feel relieved.
After that, He Tian had a long exchange with Wukong.
Then he carried Wukong downstairs.
“Sister Qiu... meat! Make meat for Wukong! Lots of meat!” As soon as he reached the bottom floor, He Tian called out loudly.
Wang Xinmeng, Wang Xinrou, Chou, Qing Wu, and the others who were preparing to eat in the large dining room all looked at He Tian in surprise.
“All right!” Sister Qiu did not hesitate. She immediately went off to arrange the meat.
“What’s going on? Why does Wukong seem so listless?” Wang Xinmeng asked, eyeing He Tian suspiciously.
“Overworked. Feed it meat to help it recover,” He Tian explained.
Wang Xinrou curled her lips, then quickly ran to Wukong, took it from He Tian’s arms, and carefully placed it on the dining table. She sat down herself, propped her chin on both hands, and looked at Wukong.
“Wukong, tell me why you only want to eat meat? I bought you so many delicious fruits of all kinds. Don’t you like them?”
“Chi, chi...” Wukong chittered as it communicated with Wang Xinrou.
“You’re hungry? If you’re hungry, why not eat fruit instead of meat?” Wang Xinrou understood part of it, but she was still puzzled.
“All right! Who asks questions like that? Stop asking. Eat your breakfast. Go do whatever you’re supposed to do!” He Tian could not bear to watch Wukong being “tormented” like this, and quickly took Wukong back from Wang Xinrou.
“I’m telling you... if you feed Wukong meat like that, be careful it doesn’t upset its stomach!” Wang Xinrou was still worried.
He Tian could only roll his eyes in response.
By then, Lazy Cat was already quietly talking with Chou, Qing Wu, and the others.
Lazy Cat passed on the information he knew.
At once, everyone’s gaze toward Wukong changed.
It could help someone cultivate... this was simply outrageous!
Especially Shenfeng, whose mouth practically watered.
He was thinking that if Wukong would help him like that too, how wonderful that would be.
Shenfeng had long been dissatisfied with his third-level internal-force cultivation.
Of course, that was only a thought. Shenfeng knew very well that aside from He Tian, no one else was likely to receive such treatment from Wukong.
Sigh, comparing people to people really could drive one mad. Why was the gap so enormous?
He Tian fed Wukong meat as carefully as though he were serving an ancestor.
A monkey was devouring meat in huge bites, and eating with such relish.
Aside from Wang Xinmeng and Wang Xinrou, as well as Ruth and the others who had also left, the remaining Shenfeng, Chou, and Lazy Cat all looked at the scene in a very odd way.
He Tian gradually relaxed.
After Wukong had eaten meat, its spirit noticeably improved.
Though only by a little, it proved the method worked.
As long as it worked, that was enough.
Wukong ate a full five jin of braised meat before finally closing its mouth in satisfaction.
He Tian’s face was blooming with delight.
Then he let Wukong go find a place to rest in the villa.
Wukong was very clean...
and was perfectly willing to let Sister Qiu help bathe it.
Everyone liked this monkey, full of spirituality.
Because Wukong could awaken affection in anyone’s heart.
“Tian, take this pill. I’m giving it back to you.” Chou chuckled as he took out the Dragon Soul Pill and placed it on the table.
“Chou... I prepared that for you! Why are you giving it back to me again?” He Tian’s expression darkened.
“Tian, listen to me... that was back then. This pill didn’t do much for you before. But now it’s different. Now you can attempt to break through to the fourth level of internal force. This pill will be even more useful to you. And to be honest, I really don’t have much confidence that I can reach the fifth level of internal force. So for the past few days, I haven’t dared take it,” Chou said very seriously.
“Rubbish! I just reached this level, and I haven’t even fully mastered my strength yet. And now you’re talking about another breakthrough? Isn’t that a joke? Also, don’t tell me you might not be able to break through. You have that little faith in yourself? I don’t buy it! If this pill is yours, then it’s yours. If you don’t want it, I’ll throw it away right now,” He Tian said seriously. “Chou, reaching the fifth level of internal force is the choice most beneficial to me, and to all of us as a team.”
“Little Tian is right! Chou... stop refusing. We need an expert at the fifth level of internal force among us. That would give me a sense of security,” Lazy Cat said with a smile.
