Chapter 4: The Tiger Demon!
“Damn, you actually scared him unconscious?” Just as Chen Meng was about to draw a couple more breaths of Yang energy to feel even better, Chu Tian had already pushed her off himself.
“He’s already out cold; I might as well keep absorbing!” Chen Meng said, eyes gleaming with satisfaction. Having just absorbed some of Chu Tian’s Yang energy, she could feel her wounds healing at a lightning pace—an exhilarating sensation that was downright addictive.
“Absorbing, my ass! You think you can heal all your injuries in one go? Even if I have plenty of Yang energy, I need time to recover myself,” Chu Tian said, wiping his lips. Damn, she was only concerned with her own pleasure, completely disregarding whether he could handle it or not.
“Is that not allowed?” Chen Meng asked in astonishment, disbelief written all over her face.
“You… just wait until I break through, I’ll squeeze you dry!” Chu Tian shot back, glaring at her. That single breath she took just now was enough to drain the Yang energy of five or six ordinary men. What else did she want? “I can lend you my Yang energy to heal, but only as long as it doesn’t affect my cultivation.”
“Got it,” Chen Meng said coquettishly, looking at Chu Tian with a newfound tenderness. At least now he was willing to share some Yang energy with her, which was a vast improvement from before. Back then, Chu Tian had guarded himself like a fortress. From this small gesture today, Chen Meng felt that tomorrow he might even give her two breaths—and the day she fully claimed him wasn’t far off.
“So, what now?” Chu Tian walked over to check on the little chubby guy who had fainted from fright. Fortunately, he wasn’t dead—just knocked out.
Chen Meng stuck out her tongue. “I didn’t mean to scare him unconscious. I just wanted to frighten him away. Who knew he was so fragile?”
Chu Tian looked at her speechlessly and dragged the little chubby man aside.
As Chu Tian laid the guy down on a recliner behind the counter, his expression suddenly stiffened.
A powerful aura of demons, mingled with ghostly energy, surged in from all directions, engulfing the entire haunted house.
Chu Tian’s face grew grave as he looked up at Chen Meng. “Did they follow you here?”
“No way. I clearly lost them,” Chen Meng replied, her expression also darkening.
Chu Tian stepped out from behind the counter. The silver bracelet on his left wrist suddenly expanded, transforming into a two- or three-meter-long soul-sealing chain that swiftly wrapped around Chen Meng’s body.
Blue light from the soul-sealing chain instantly enveloped Chen Meng, and besides the blue glow, a small black spot appeared on her body.
Chu Tian reached out and peeled off the black spot from Chen Meng’s shoe, grinding it into dust.
“Tracking spell? Damn it!” Chen Meng’s face twisted in displeasure. She hadn’t realized someone had placed a tracking spell on her.
“Let’s see who’s causing trouble in the middle of the night,” Chu Tian said. As he passed Chen Meng, the soul-sealing chain fluttered back into his hand and coiled around his right arm.
Chu Tian’s haunted house was located at the edge of an amusement park. It was already midnight, and the park was closed and deserted.
Only two red lanterns hung outside the haunted house’s door, swaying slightly and adding an eerie atmosphere.
As Chu Tian stepped outside, a man wearing glasses and a suit stood in the empty space in front of him.
Upon seeing Chu Tian emerge, the man pushed up his glasses and revealed a trace of surprise. “I didn’t expect this fox spirit to find a cultivator to protect her.”
“A tiger demon?” Chu Tian’s eyes flickered with blue light as he immediately recognized the man’s true form.
After all, society was progressing and times were changing. These mountain demons and spirits, once they attained human form, no longer always dressed like ancient people.
Moreover, as more famous mountains and rivers were explored by humans, the places where demons could cultivate grew fewer, forcing them to integrate into human society.
As long as these creatures didn’t kill or cause chaos and abided by human laws, they usually avoided trouble.
For example, Chu Tian had seen a fox spirit who stayed home and livestreamed, earning enough donations in a day to buy fried chicken for a year, living a merry life. He’d also met a bull demon who studied turf management at university and graduated to care for lawns. A panda spirit, tired of human society’s burdens, returned to the zoo to resume life as a panda.
In short, every city hid its share of demons.
But Chu Tian had never encountered a tiger demon with such a fierce aura as the man before him.
“Have you killed anyone?” Chu Tian asked the tiger demon.
“Not yet today!” the man in the suit said. “Hand over that fox spirit, and I won’t kill you. Otherwise, you might die here tonight.”
“How did you provoke him?” Chu Tian asked Chen Meng.
Chen Meng stepped out of the haunted house, looking helpless. “I didn’t provoke him, but he wants my demon core! I just broke through; my cultivation is unstable. It’s the perfect time for him to devour it.”
“Innocent man?” Chu Tian said.
“Yeah,” Chen Meng nodded.
“Then there’s no negotiation!” Chu Tian declared, glaring at the tiger demon. “You heard her. I won’t hand her over.”
“If there’s no negotiation, then Tiger Lord doesn’t mind killing one more tonight!” the suited man said, exhaling white smoke from his mouth, from which ghostly figures began to emerge.
After a tiger demon ascended, some chose to raise ghostly minions.
This tiger demon was one of them. He could have become a revered mountain lord but lost the chance because of his ghostly servants.
“Playing with ghosts, huh?” Chu Tian smiled faintly as five or six ghostly apparitions appeared behind the tiger demon.
If you want to fight with something else, maybe I’d be afraid. But ghosts? Now that’s a game I’m ready to play!
“Kid, you two versus our seven!” the suited man grinned. “Let’s see how you protect this fox spirit today!”
“Roar~” Chen Meng’s hands transformed into fox claws, her body taking on more fox demon traits, surrounded by swirling demonic energy, ready for battle.
“What’s this? Tiger bro wants to play group sports?” Chu Tian chuckled, glancing back at his haunted house.
Behind the door of the haunted house, several little ghosts stacked atop one another peeked out, eager to watch the spectacle.
“Why are you just watching? Didn’t you see your boss being bullied by ghosts? Come out and help me settle the score!” Chu Tian shouted.
Before the tiger demon could react, a torrent of ghostly energy burst forth from the haunted house like an explosion!
