Chapter 20: The Trinity

Mu Changge suddenly recalled something. "Teacher Athena, since ferocious beasts can transform into divine beasts or ancient gods, can ancient gods fall and become ferocious beasts?"

"Yes, as I mentioned earlier, it’s merely a matter of identity," Athena replied.

Having obtained the answer she sought, Mu Changge began to piece together the current information.

First, both she and Athena had allied themselves with the Yellow Emperor, Xuanyuan. This event most likely altered the original course, triggering a butterfly effect that led to the sudden emergence of individuals colluding with ferocious beasts. Those conspiring with the beasts clearly intended to eliminate Athena and herself. The Yellow Emperor, Xuanyuan, seemingly had no motive. Yet, considering that ferocious beasts could transform into divine beasts or even ancient gods, might Xuanyuan be testing the waters? After all, a staged self-sacrifice could substantially diminish suspicion. However, based on her observations in the Youxiong tribe, Xuanyuan did not seem the type to engage in such machinations. It was wise to remain cautious, but the likelihood was slim. As for the young Flame Emperor Yuwang and the leader of the Jiuli tribe, Chiyou, both had motives. Removing Athena and Mu Changge would be a tremendous boon for either of them. If pressed to choose the most probable suspect, it would be Chiyou. After all, Yuwang concealing this from Flame Emperor Shennong, who belonged to the same tribe, seemed unlikely—unless father and son sought to improve the succession environment.

"What do you think? Have you figured it out?" Athena asked.

"I still believe it’s Chiyou."

"Not changing your mind?"

"No."

Athena sighed. "My student, have you considered how Chiyou could have precisely tracked our movements?"

"Chiyou could have arranged for someone to tail us..." Suddenly, Mu Changge realized, "Wait! If that’s the case, it makes sense that Flame Emperor Shennong couldn't find any trace of this!"

Athena smiled silently.

Flame Emperor Shennong served as the leader of the Human Tribe Alliance for a total of five hundred and thirty years. In his final year, he successfully ascended to become the Heavenly Emperor!

Even though those secretly colluding with the ferocious beasts remained unfound, Shennong had no choice but to honor the covenant between heaven and man. He relinquished his position as leader and journeyed to the Fire Cloud Palace where the Heavenly Sovereign Fuxi resided.

Later, Shennong was revered as the Earth Sovereign Shennong.

The activity center of the human tribes—the Chen territory.

After sending off Earth Sovereign Shennong, the young Flame Emperor Yuwang, Jiuli tribe leader Chiyou, and Youxiong tribe leader Xuanyuan exchanged a few sarcastic remarks before parting on sour terms.

The following day, Chiyou left Chen territory, hastening back to the Jiuli tribe.

By nightfall, Chiyou was forced to halt, setting up camp in a temporary location with his subordinates, planning to resume travel at dawn.

By the fire, Chiyou closed his eyes to rest, but suddenly sensed the surroundings grow eerily silent and icy cold. He immediately opened his eyes and drew his weapon in defense.

Opposite the fire stood a young man with black hair and a petite white-haired girl—Mu Changge and Athena.

Chiyou’s pupils contracted. "Who are you?"

After speaking, Chiyou glanced around and realized all his subordinates had turned into stone statues.

"My name is Athena, the goddess of war, one of the Twelve Olympian Gods from the Greek realm," she declared.

"A goddess from another world? What business do you have with me?"

"Don’t be nervous. I merely wish to make a deal with you."

"What kind of deal?"

"Withdraw from the election for leader of the Human Tribe Alliance."

"Hahaha... That’s not funny at all. Goddess from another realm, you don’t think you can easily manipulate me, do you?"

"You should have known I wouldn’t let you off so easily when you arranged for ferocious beasts to attack me!"

"What are you talking about? I—"

Athena interrupted, "Stop making excuses. I fought the ferocious beasts you sent and found your mark upon them! If you want to deceive a goddess, you must first understand whom you’re dealing with! From the moment I saw you, your only choice has been to endure my wrath!"

Just as Athena prepared to strike Chiyou, a divine voice shielded him. "Goddess from another realm, hold!"

The space trembled, the earth rumbled, and a colossal ancient god suddenly appeared.

The ancient god stood before Chiyou. After breaking free from Athena’s binding, Chiyou fled immediately.

Athena turned to the sudden ancient god. "Are you the Mountain God Kuafu, who shoulders the sky over Chengdu?"

"Indeed! Goddess from another realm, there is no place for you here. Return whence you came!"

Just as tensions reached a breaking point, a cold divine voice rang out: "It seems I have arrived just in time."

From the high sky, a powerful goddess in azure tore through the void—it was the Drought Goddess Nvwa!

Nvwa looked at Athena. "The Heavenly Emperor has decreed that no ferocious beasts shall taint the leader of the Human Tribe Alliance! I will oppose him; you go after Chiyou."

Athena nodded and immediately mounted the giant owl with Mu Changge, setting off to pursue Chiyou.

Kuafu and Nvwa exchanged a glance, then unleashed their formidable divine powers, transforming into two colossal meteors that collided.

"Boom!!!"

The massive impact sent waves rippling across heaven and earth, scattering the ground and lighting up the sky.

Kuafu’s mighty axe clashed repeatedly with Nvwa’s fiery staff, their divine energies colliding with explosive force, carving deep craters into the earth. The battle was lightning-fast; within moments, they exchanged dozens of blows.

Kuafu’s brutal strikes and Nvwa’s sweeping flames produced thunderous clashes that ripped the land and scorched the sky. Around the combatants, a deathly domain rapidly expanded.

Chiyou fled a short distance before the ferocious beasts Leizhi and Yaoyan, concealed nearby, revealed themselves to escort him away.

From the owl’s back, Athena spotted Leizhi, Yaoyan, and Chiyou.

She immediately drew her Thunder Spear, unleashing divine lightning to attack Chiyou from afar.

After dodging several attacks, Leizhi and Yaoyan set Chiyou down, letting him escape while they faced Athena.

Seeing the beasts approach for battle, Athena commanded the owl to land.

"I once fought three foes without fear. Now, without Qiongqi, you are no match for me!"

With that, Athena completed her incantation in an instant.

"By the true name of Athena, I command the strongest Triune Goddess to return at this moment!"

"I bring humanity art, craftsmanship, and survival tools, and I am the embodiment of death and night that humans fear!"

"Wisdom and the skies are my essence, the insight of the heavens and the lightning that rules the skies now manifest once more!"

Under Athena’s divine words, Mu Changge and the owl merged into a colossal scythe radiating darkness and death—the Scythe of Death!

Simultaneously, Athena’s form transformed. Her petite figure rapidly grew, gaining several dozen centimeters to stand around 1.5 meters tall, now appearing as a breathtaking girl of seventeen or eighteen.

Her short white hair lengthened, blending seamlessly with the moonlight. A crown woven from olive branches adorned her head. She wore a flowing white robe, her bare feet pure as jade.

This was the mightiest Triune Goddess—Athena!
