Chapter 23: Encountering Da Fei Once More
Chapter 23: Meeting Da Fei Again
The singing and drinking had reached their peak, and the atmosphere inside the private room was electric.
“Qi, where’s Wang Xin?” At that moment, Shi Dong suddenly whispered.
Wang Xin was also a girl in their class and the one Shi Dong admired. However, he never had the courage to pursue her. Wang Xin was the class’s good girl and top student, while Shi Dong, like Yang Qi, was barely scraping by academically. Moreover, Wang Xin had secured a position with the district bank in Qingzhou City’s district as a civil servant, while Shi Dong hadn’t even found a job yet, making him even more hesitant to confess. Everyone in the class knew this unspoken fact—they all understood that the odds of the two ending up together were slim.
“She probably went out,” Yang Qi replied.
Although Yang Qi hadn’t deliberately used his internal energy, his tolerance for alcohol had improved considerably. With his keen senses, he had seen Wang Xin earlier; she had intended to use the restroom but found it occupied, so she left the private room. Though there was a restroom inside, it was a single stall—it was fine for a few people, but with over ten inside now, it was insufficient.
“I’ll step out for a bit too,” Shi Dong chuckled and slipped out of the room.
Watching Shi Dong leave, Yang Qi shook his head silently. If Shi Dong put as much effort into romance as he did into gaming and card playing, Wang Xin would have long been his. Although he followed out this time, Yang Qi was certain Shi Dong would at most pretend to have a chance encounter and chat briefly before returning.
“Qi, it’s your turn,” Chen Chao, who was managing the song selection, said as the music neared its end.
Yang Qi took the microphone and stepped to the center of the room, ready to sing, when suddenly a commotion erupted outside the private room.
“Damn it! How dare you hit someone!”
Amid the noise, a familiar voice rang out. Although the surroundings were loud and the voice somewhat muffled, Yang Qi recognized it as Shi Dong’s.
“Shi Dong’s in trouble!” Yang Qi exclaimed.
Shi Dong in trouble?
The words sobered most of those inside the room at once. They hurried out with Yang Qi and saw a group of men surrounding Shi Dong and Wang Xin in the nearby lounge.
“What’s going on, Shi Dong?” Yang Qi hurried forward.
“These guys, drunk as hell, grabbed Wang Xin and tried to drag her to their room. If I hadn’t come out just then to stop them, they would have pulled her into their private room,” Shi Dong said angrily.
He had just come out when he saw several men pulling Wang Xin away. Shi Dong rushed over to block them but was slapped in the face.
Hearing this, everyone’s expression darkened, and several girls stepped forward to comfort the crying Wang Xin.
“Guys, we’re all here to have fun. With this happening, what do you suggest we do?” Shen Peng stepped up.
Shen Peng was one of the most lively members of the class; he got along well with both boys and girls and often took charge of events. Facing this situation, he was the first to stand up.
“What do I suggest? I haven’t even spoken yet, and you have the nerve to ask? Today’s debt is on you. Let’s just let this slide,” the leader of the men slurred, reeking of alcohol. A few students dared to cause trouble for him?
“Damn it, that’s too much,” one of the boys immediately got angry. Although they were in college and had somewhat mellowed, their youthful blood still boiled. Being bullied like this was unacceptable.
“No respect for the face I give!” The drunken man sneered and kicked at Shen Peng.
“Bang!”
Just as Shen Peng was about to get hurt, a figure suddenly lunged forward, delivering a kick that sent the man flying into the sofa.
“Get him...” The men beside the fallen one charged at Yang Qi.
“Qi, I’m coming to help!” Shi Dong shouted and rushed over.
Seeing the oncoming attackers, Yang Qi moved his feet, delivering a series of kicks that knocked them all to the ground. He was holding back; had he gone all out, these men would likely have been as badly injured as the robbers back then.
“Damn, Qi, you’re amazing!” Shi Dong arrived beside Yang Qi, staring at the pained men on the floor in disbelief.
“Yang Qi, you’re really good at fighting?” Shen Peng looked at Yang Qi in surprise. Yang Qi was usually low-key in class; no one expected this.
“You guys took so long to come, and you’re still running so slowly,” Shi Dong said, turning back with some displeasure.
Yang Qi glanced at the others not far off and sighed inwardly. In truth, those boys and girls hadn’t moved at all. Most of those boys were top students—either civil servant candidates or holding government posts. Yang Qi understood their mindset somewhat.
If this incident was recorded in their files, it would impact their future careers. Yang Qi was comforted to see that the boys who usually got along well had now stepped up, including Chen Chao and two other classmates from other provinces.
“What’s going on? Who dares make trouble in Da Fei’s turf? Looking for death?” A cold laugh came from the corridor as seven or eight figures approached.
“Brother Da Fei, it’s me, A Qing! Remember? We drank together a few days ago,” the man on the sofa hurried to explain.
“A Qing, huh? Who’s bold enough to fight my friend here on my turf?” Da Fei laughed coldly. He clearly remembered A Qing.
“Qi, what do we do? These are the KTV’s bouncers,” Shi Dong said anxiously. These guards were tough and reckless in fights. If they got involved, they’d be at a disadvantage.
“Some puny students dare...” Da Fei snorted, pushing aside the boy blocking his path. He was about to order his men to teach Yang Qi and company a lesson, but when he saw Yang Qi under the dim light, his expression suddenly changed.
“Da Fei, long time no see,” Yang Qi smiled, surprised to meet him again so soon. Even he hadn’t expected this strange coincidence.
“Brother, what are you doing here?” Da Fei’s face was drawn, cold sweat running down his forehead. He had witnessed this killing god’s methods before. Had he neglected the calendar these past few days to keep running into this fearsome figure?
“Brother, when did you get another brother?” Bald A Biao looked at Da Fei in confusion but immediately understood why Da Fei called Yang Qi “brother” when his gaze landed on Yang Qi.
Seeing Yang Qi, A Biao felt a faint pain in his bald head and a cramp in his toes.
“What, don’t you welcome me?” Yang Qi looked at Da Fei calmly.
“Of course we welcome you, welcome, definitely welcome,” Da Fei replied with a grimace. Welcome my ass—he wished Yang Qi would never appear in his sight again. But he couldn’t say that aloud; he didn’t want another beating.
