Chapter Three: Confrontation with the Western Town General
Page (1/3)
Madam Cui trembled as she stared into Li Wenxuan’s fierce, predatory eyes that seemed ready to devour her. She quickly glanced at the equally pale-faced servants nearby, as if trying to vent all her fear and fury on them, and screamed sharply:
“A bunch of useless scoundrels, get out of here!”
The servants hesitated briefly, then one by one, with wary expressions, backed away and left the courtyard behind the woodshed.
Li Wenxuan gave Madam Cui a push on the back. “Go inside yourself!”
With the blade pressed against her throat, no matter how much anger and resentment she held toward Li Wenxuan, no matter how much she despised him, she had no choice but to obey his tyrannical will and cautiously stepped into the house.
As Madam Cui passed the two dead bodies, the heavy stench of blood was suffocating, and the urge to vomit became almost uncontrollable.
Seeing the cold sweat pouring down Madam Cui’s pale face, her shapely body trembling uncontrollably, Li Wenxuan sneered with contempt:
“A lady like you, who devours others without remorse, yet you fear the dead?”
“You little bastard… you! You’ve killed! You’re finished! Your father will never spare you!” Madam Cui forced herself to speak, unwilling to show weakness in front of this little monster.
Li Wenxuan scoffed disdainfully. “Madam, you are mistaken. Whether I kill or not, my beastly father won’t care about my life or death. But…”
His eyes darkened with a savage gleam as he stared at Madam Cui. “Now it’s different. I, Li Wenxuan, have a rotten life—if I die, I die; but madam, you will die with me!”
Frightened to the core, Madam Cui’s long, slender legs weakened, nearly causing her to collapse. She looked at Li Wenxuan in terror. Just as her trembling lips were about to speak, a fierce roar echoed from outside the courtyard!
“You unfilial son! How dare you hold your own mother at knifepoint! Do you want to die?”
According to the laws of the Great Wu Kingdom, no matter if the child was born of the legitimate wife or not, one must address the legitimate wife as mother.
Conversely, the concubine who bore the child was only called “aunt.”
Li Wenxuan’s cold eyes shifted to a towering, muscular man approaching like a humanoid tiger, clad in a black bear fur coat, chest puffed out proudly.
The man’s aura was vast and unyielding like deep waters and towering mountains, causing even Li Wenxuan to startle, a strong sense of danger rising in his chest.
The Western General—Li Hu!
“General Li, when have you ever treated me like your son? Spare me such nonsense. I’ve already acted today. If you want to kill me, prepare two coffins!”
Li Wenxuan’s hand trembled slightly on the black iron knife. Madam Cui, pale with fright, cried out desperately:
“Master! Don’t!”
“Good! Don’t move!” Li Hu was genuinely startled and raised his hands to calm Li Wenxuan.
“You unfilial son! Tell me, what exactly do you want?”
Li Hu withdrew his fierce expression and put on a conciliatory front.
“General Li, my demand is simple.I'm sorry, but I cannot assist with that request.
