Chapter 7: Mission Accomplished, A Chance Encounter with Scarlett Johansson
The moment Qin Feng heard that Dr. Horner had chosen to join the team, his spirit surged with excitement.
For the role of scientific consultant, Dr. Horner was unquestionably the best choice—there was simply no one better.
“Wonderful! Doctor, I’m coming over right now.”
After hanging up, Qin Feng left the library and hailed a taxi.
At the museum, staff directed him to the third floor, where Dr. Horner’s office was located.
“Doctor, it’s fantastic that you’re joining this film!” Qin Feng exclaimed.
Dr. Horner put down his work, shook Qin Feng’s hand, and smiled warmly.
“I’ve come to realize that some work shouldn’t be done with one’s head buried too deeply. We should find ways to present our findings to the public.”
“Exactly!”
Qin Feng pulled out a sheet of paper. “Here’s a list of ten dinosaurs that will appear in the film. Please take a look. We’ll need to prepare as much material as possible.”
“Alright.” Horner took the paper.
The list read: Velociraptor, Brachiosaurus, Parasaurolophus, Dilophosaurus, Tyrannosaurus rex, Triceratops, Gallimimus, Pterosaur, Spinosaurus, Stegosaurus.
“Huh—quite a variety! Both sky and land creatures, truly representative,” Horner nodded in approval.
“Who wrote the screenplay? This person must be very familiar with dinosaurs.”
Qin Feng smiled and handed over the script. “Doctor, I wrote the screenplay myself. Please take a look when you have time.”
Horner studied Qin Feng anew. This young Asian man was not only handsome but also remarkably knowledgeable. He was impressed.
“You wrote the script? To be so familiar with dinosaurs at your age—that’s impressive!”
“You flatter me.”
“By the way, Dr. Horner, the fees for the scientific consultant role need to be processed at the company headquarters, and please keep the script confidential.”
“Understood, you can rest assured.”
“When do you plan to set off?”
“I need to finish my current work and then request leave from the museum. Probably the day after tomorrow.”
Hearing this, Qin Feng thought he would head back first, and Horner could go alone later.
“Then please hurry. I’ll be waiting in Los Angeles.”
“Alright.”
After the discussion, they parted ways.
Having nothing else pressing in Misu City, Qin Feng bought a ticket to return to Los Angeles that evening.
The departure hall was sparsely populated, with small groups scattered about.
His gaze suddenly fell upon a beautiful woman, stirring a faint sense of familiarity.
She sat alone, reading a newspaper.
Her golden hair cascaded in voluminous waves; she wore oversized sunglasses and her luscious red lips exuded a wild, seductive charm.
She radiated the aura of a goddess.
“Hmm? Isn’t that…”
Qin Feng instantly recognized her.
The Black Widow—Scarlett Johansson.
At this time, she was not yet a major star, often taking on small-budget Hollywood films without fear of being recognized.
Standing there hesitating, Qin Feng wondered how to strike up a conversation.
“Ah—I’ve got it.”
He approached confidently, pulling out a notebook and pen from his bag.
“Miss Scarlett, could you please sign an autograph for me?”
Scarlett looked up, surprised. She hadn’t expected to be recognized despite the large sunglasses.
Before her stood a tall Asian man with slightly wavy mid-length hair, deep eyes, and a smile that was truly comforting.
Good thing she wore sunglasses; otherwise, looking into his eyes might have made her blush.
“Miss Scarlett, um… could you sign, please?” Qin Feng repeated, seeing she hadn’t responded.
“Oh—sure.”
She took the pen and paper and quickly signed.
“Thank you!” Qin Feng accepted the autograph. “I’m a fan. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
“Really?” Scarlett smiled gently. “So what films of mine have you seen?”
She thought he was just making polite small talk.
Having acted since childhood, her appearance had changed significantly over the years.
Some of her recent work was uneven, and even she wasn’t always satisfied.
Was this handsome guy just humoring me?
“I’ve seen many: ‘Match Point,’ ‘Lost in Translation,’ ‘Girl with a Pearl Earring,’ and ‘Ghost World.’”
Qin Feng named them offhandedly.
“Wow!” Scarlett beamed, pursing her lips. “Thank you. Those are some of my best-reviewed films.”
Only a true fan would know that.
Qin Feng took out his business card and handed it over elegantly. “Miss Scarlett, are you heading to Los Angeles? Might I have the honor of chatting with you?”
She took the card, which read: Qin Feng, Assistant Director and Screenwriter, Universal Pictures.
“Wow! You’re a film director!”
She was surprised once again—she had never encountered such a young director before.
Qin Feng sat beside her. “Don’t get me wrong, I’m only the assistant.”
“You’re so young—you’ll be a full director soon enough.”
“Thank you.” In truth, Qin Feng planned to direct independently after finishing the Jurassic film.
Scarlett removed her sunglasses, revealing a pair of stunning eyes, and looked at him curiously. “Mr. Qin, you’re not American, are you?”
“I’m Chinese, and I’m developing my career here. Honestly… I haven’t been here long.”
Qin Feng admired her beauty—her eyes complemented her features perfectly.
At this time, she had not yet starred in Marvel’s Black Widow, nor was she known by that nickname.
Her era was yet to come.
She asked, “Oh, I see. So you’re also returning to Los Angeles?”
“Yes. Miss Scarlett, what have you been busy with lately?”
“...Nothing much.” Scarlett gently twirled a strand of hair. “Preparing for auditions. I’ve been contacted for an art film.”
An art film? Qin Feng thought with amusement. Are you addicted to art films?
Come on! You’re destined to be the globally renowned Black Widow—the premier action star!
“I have a suggestion...” he said.
“Oh? Go on.”
“You could take on more action films. Maybe big-budget movies will find their way to you in the future.”
“Action films? I wish I could, but I can’t get the roles!”
For a while, she had been constantly working out to keep in top shape, yet still no action parts came her way.
Just then, the airport announcement sounded: the flight to Los Angeles was boarding.
They stood up together. Qin Feng said, “Looks like we’re on the same flight.”
“What a coincidence.”
Scarlett put her sunglasses back on. Laughing and chatting, they walked onto the plane.
Surprisingly, both were seated in business class. Scarlett’s seat was four rows ahead of Qin Feng’s, allowing him a view of her back.
The plane was about to take off.
Scarlett turned around, smiling and waving at him, completely without the airs of a star.
Qin Feng waved back, smiling innocently.
Scarlett settled in, a smile playing at her lips.
Who would have thought that one day, I’d be stirred by an Asian man!
This damn feeling!
He wears his long black hair and still looks so handsome!
His smile is so charming.
She gently pinched her cheek, regaining some composure.
Minutes later, unable to resist, she glanced back again.
To her surprise, Qin Feng was resting his chin on one hand, just turning his head to look at her!
Their eyes met.
Oh my god!!
She quickly turned her head away.
