Chapter 32: The World Premiere! Have You Ever Considered Becoming an Actor?
“At this thrilling moment, our film is finally ready to meet everyone.”
“The core creative team of the movie has traveled from all corners of the globe to reunite here, witnessing together the premiere of the sci-fi film—Jurassic Park!”
Applause erupted at the scene, accompanied now and then by whistles.
Amid the eager anticipation, sleek black executive cars rolled up to the end of the red carpet, instantly drawing all eyes.
“First, let us welcome with the warmest applause the film’s director, Mr. Steven Spielberg!”
The applause thundered as the door of the first car swung open.
Spielberg stepped out, dressed sharply in a black suit and bow tie, exuding vitality and a broad smile, waving to the crowd as he walked forward.
“Next, the film’s three leading actors—Mr. Sam Neill, Ms. Laura Dern, and Mr. Jeff Goldblum!”
The door of the second car opened.
Sam Neill took the left, dressed in a professor’s outfit and a small cap, looking proud and dignified.
Laura Dern stood in the center, wearing a splendid teal evening gown.
Jeff Goldblum was on the right, clad in a suit, his charming smile never fading as he frequently greeted the press.
The three walked side by side, the flash of cameras incessant.
The host glanced at the cue cards and said, “Please welcome the film’s producer, Ms. Kathleen Kennedy, and the assistant director and screenwriter, Mr. Qin Feng!”
The door of the third car opened.
Qin Feng stepped out first, gesturing politely.
Kathleen Kennedy followed, smiling gracefully.
Both wore black suits and walked shoulder to shoulder along the red carpet.
Qin Feng’s tall, poised figure, flowing long hair, and distinct Eastern features immediately caught the attention of those present.
“Wow! Look over there! That handsome Asian guy! Did you see him? Absolutely stunning.”
“I saw him too; I remember seeing him online at the filming commencement ceremony a few months ago.”
“He’s the original author of Jurassic Park and also the assistant director. Now he’s walking the red carpet alongside the producer—this is huge!”
“This Asian guy is so handsome, ladies! I want all his info within ten minutes!”
“He’s my future husband reserved already—no one else fight me for him. Hope you all come to celebrate our kids’ birthday and wedding banquet.”
“…”
The introductions continued.
“Next, please welcome Mr. Richard, who plays Mr. Hammond, along with two young actors, Lex and Tim!”
The car doors opened.
An elderly man and two children cheerfully approached the red carpet, warm and lively.
“Please welcome the paleontologist and scientific consultant for the film, Dr. Jack Horner.”
“Please welcome the film’s art director, Mr. Ossie.”
“Please welcome Mr. Stanley Winston from Stanley Special Effects Studio.”
“Please welcome Mr. Dennis Muren, visual effects director from Industrial Light & Magic, and Mr. Bill, the supervisor.”
“…”
The introductions went on amid unprecedented grandeur at the premiere.
Once all guests had signed the giant poster, the film’s screening officially began.
All attendees, including the creative team, press corps, and fan clubs, entered with tickets.
The venue was a giant-screen theater, equipped with brand-new facilities, likely recently installed.
The lead creators’ seats were in the front row, a bit strenuous on the neck.
The director and producer sat in the center.
Qin Feng’s seat was flanked by Goldblum on the right and Dr. Horner on the left.
Goldblum softly asked, “Hey, Qin Feng, have you seen the finished film yet?”
“Of course,” Qin Feng replied. “I watched it right after the post-production was completed.”
Dr. Horner leaned in with his large head. “How’s the effect?”
Qin Feng smiled. “It’s about to start—you’ll see for yourselves soon.”
They chuckled together.
Soon, the lights dimmed, and the movie began.
The entire audience fell silent, eyes glued to the screen.
The film opened with high tension—someone died right from the start, setting a gripping pace that immediately captured attention.
Those attending weren’t just the creators and fans; many discerning critics and industry insiders were present.
At first, they had expected the special effects to be mediocre and the plot to be average, thinking the film only held up due to Spielberg’s name.
But as the story unfolded gradually, when the helicopter flew toward Isla Nublar and the background music swelled, they were utterly stunned!
Their colored glasses of prejudice began to slip away as they focused intently.
As the dinosaurs of Jurassic Park made their grand appearance, the audience often gasped aloud.
“Wow!” “Ah!” “Oh my!”
“Dinosaurs! Look!”
Their emotions rose and fell with the adventures of Dr. Grant and the others.
Everyone was shaken, realizing for the first time:
“Damn! Sci-fi films can be made like this!”
Not only them.
Even the creative team members seeing the finished film for the first time were left speechless with amazement.
After two hours, the movie ended unnoticed.
When the lights came back on, the audience broke into collective applause!
“Good!”
“Well done!”
“…”
Amid the enthusiastic applause, all the creators took the stage.
Spielberg led everyone in waving thanks to the audience.
The crowd eagerly shared their impressions.
“Thank you, director, and thank you all the creators for bringing us dinosaur fans such a magnificent work. I’m truly moved! I thought I’d never see real dinosaurs in this lifetime, but here my dream came true!”
“Truly amazing! I was shouting with excitement just now. What an unforgettable viewing experience! I’m even afraid—what if we never get to feel this way at the movies again?”
“Excellent work! Director, you’ve won! This movie is bound to be a huge hit!”
“I just want to ask the director—does Isla Nublar really exist? Are there still dinosaurs somewhere?”
Spielberg took the microphone from a staff member, smiling:
“Isla Nublar is a fictional place from the script. We used a real location as the filming site, so it doesn’t really exist. As for dinosaurs, I believe they are extinct.”
At that moment, a female reporter stood up.
“Hello! I’m an entertainment reporter, and I’d like to ask the assistant director, Qin Feng.”
Huh? Someone’s asking me?
Qin Feng accepted the microphone and looked toward the reporter.
“Mr. Qin Feng, with your handsome and charismatic image, have you ever considered pursuing a career as an actor?”
The moment the question was asked, everyone laughed.
Some female fans of Qin Feng almost screamed with excitement.
Qin Feng was taken aback—what kind of question was that?
He glanced at Director Spielberg, who shrugged, signaling: That’s your question, Qin.
“Ahem… Thank you for your question. I am a film director. Directing is my profession and my passion.”
“So, I will not become an actor.”
Upon hearing this, the previously excited female fans immediately deflated.
