Chapter 24: A Chance Encounter with an Action Star, Heading to San Francisco
Chapter 24: Encountering an Action Star, Driving to San Francisco
The man walking toward him had broad shoulders and a wide frame, looking much like a small giant. He stood at least 1.95 meters tall, his body packed with layers of muscle. His sleeveless black T-shirt strained against his physique, and both arms were covered in blue tattoos. He was bald and wearing sunglasses, smiling as he looked at the car.
When Qin Feng clearly saw who it was, he couldn't help but be shocked.
Damn! Isn't that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson? The former WWE wrestler, now an action star! He possessed a robust build and explosive muscles. Starting out in supporting roles, he had become the quintessential image of a tough guy in Hollywood.
Qin Feng spoke without thinking, "Mr. Johnson, are you here to look at cars too?"
"Yeah, that's right," Dwayne Johnson smiled politely, revealing his white teeth. He assumed Qin Feng was a fan who had recognized him. In this timeline, although he wasn't yet a massive superstar, he had already starred in well-known action films like *The Rundown*, *The Scorpion King*, and *Walking Tall*.
Dwayne Johnson found a seat and sat down. Qin Feng thought to himself that he shouldn't miss this opportunity; he had to chat with an actor like Johnson. He walked over and pointed to the car. "Mr. Johnson, what do you think of this one?"
Dwayne Johnson lowered his sunglasses, looked at Qin Feng, then at the Mustang, and replied, "It's excellent, brother. It really suits your style."
"Oh, that's good to hear..."
He laughed, "It’s just not quite right for me. Sports cars are a bit too low for someone of my size."
Qin Feng laughed as well. True enough, with his build, he would definitely need an SUV. He didn't pull out a business card; if there were an opportunity in the future, they would naturally collaborate. For now, it was just a casual chat.
"Mr. Johnson, to be honest, I've seen quite a few of your movies."
"Thank you, I hope they brought you some joy."
"Are you here to pick up a car today as well?"
Dwayne Johnson nodded. "Yes, they didn't have the one I wanted in stock last time, so I made a special trip today. I actually have a Hummer at home, but it's an older model."
As they were talking, a male salesperson walked over and said respectfully, "Mr. Johnson, the paperwork is all finished. I just need your signature. Your vehicle is parked behind the shop; follow me once you've signed."
Dwayne Johnson signed the papers quickly and stood up. "Take your time looking around, brother."
"Okay, Mr. Johnson."
Shortly after, a female salesperson approached with a stack of contracts. She led Qin Feng through the remaining procedures and swiped his card. After being busy for quite a while, they finally arrived behind the store to see the blue Ford Mustang.
I have to say, Qin Feng really liked the blue version of this sports car.
"Sir, your paperwork is all complete. I hope you enjoy your new car. If you have any questions, please call our service line or my personal number." The salesperson beamed, handing him a business card with both hands.
"Alright, thank you."
Qin Feng packed away all his documents and got into the car. He glanced at the fuel gauge; it was running low. He started the engine, lightly pressed the gas, and drove out of the dealership. The automatic transmission made it very easy to drive, and it had plenty of power.
As he passed a gas station, he pulled in to fill the tank. Just as he was about to open the door, a brand-new black SUV pulled up ahead, and the driver rolled down the window. Dwayne Johnson poked his head out, tapped the door with his massive arm, and said to Qin Feng, "Hey! Brother, that's a nice car."
Qin Feng smiled, surprised to see him here. "Thanks, Mr. Johnson, your car is pretty great too."
Dwayne Johnson waved his hand. "I'm off."
He stepped on the gas, and the SUV roared away like a beast. Qin Feng smiled as he settled back into the driver's seat. The purchase had gone smoothly, and although he had spent a lot of money, he was in a great mood.
He drove aimlessly through the streets for half an hour, and before he knew it, he found himself near Scarlett's apartment.
*Ah! How did I end up here?*
*Might as well call her down!*
Since he had bought a new car, he had to show it off—give her a surprise! With that thought, he parked the car and dialed her number.
"Hello?"
"...Hello, are you busy?" Scarlett's voice came through, sounding as if she were snacking on something. There was also the sound of a television playing in the background.
"Not at all. Actually, I'm downstairs at your place. If you're free, come on down."
"Really? Okay, I'll be right down."
Scarlett was at home. She quickly turned off the TV, touched up her makeup, and picked out an outfit. Not satisfied, she changed into another one. It took her a while before she finally made it downstairs.
*Huh? I don't see Qin Feng!*
Just then, she saw a blue sports car ahead. Qin Feng stepped out, walked to the passenger side, opened the door, and made a gentlemanly gesture.
"Respected, beautiful Miss Scarlett, please get in. This driver is at your service."
*Wow! Qin Feng actually bought a car!* A wave of surprise washed over Scarlett, though she didn't show it on her face.
*Alright, Qin Feng, playing it cool, are we?*
Scarlett lifted her chin slightly, tossed her golden hair, swayed her waist, and walked toward the car with a model's stride. Qin Feng couldn't take his eyes off her.
She glanced at him and said with a playful smile, "Mr. Driver, please do your job well. If I'm happy, I might give you a ten-dollar tip."
Qin Feng looked innocent. "Ten dollars? Is that all?"
The two sat back in the car. Scarlett immediately exclaimed with delight, "Oh, Qin Feng! You bought a car! And you didn't even tell me!"
Qin Feng fastened his seatbelt. "I wanted to give you a surprise."
Scarlett looked around. "This car is really nice. Was it expensive?"
"Not too bad, 100,000."
"Oh, that's pretty cheap, but it looks great." She pondered for a moment. "Come to think of it, I need to buy a car too; it's not very convenient to get around otherwise."
"Huh?" Qin Feng looked at her. "Miss Scarlett, I just bought this car, and you're already planning on buying one? Who am I supposed to take for a joyride then? May I ask?"
Scarlett laughed. "Oh, come on, everyone in the States has a car. It's normal. Even if I buy one, I can still ride in yours."
"And later, you can ride in mine, and I'll take you for a spin."
Qin Feng’s mouth twitched. "Huh?"
...
Days off always go by quickly. The next day, Qin Feng drove his car, picked up Dr. Horner, and headed toward San Francisco. The ILM (Industrial Light & Magic) headquarters were located at the Letterman Digital Arts Center in San Francisco. It was over 600 kilometers from Los Angeles to San Francisco. The highway was clear, and Qin Feng drove smoothly.
The two chatted about dinosaurs and movies the whole way. Suddenly, Qin Feng remembered something and asked, "Dr. Horner, I have a question. Apart from dinosaurs, have you ever looked into King Kong—you know, the giant ape—or giant prehistoric fish, giant lizards, or giant insects?"
Dr. Horner replied, "I don't know much about the giant ape or giant insects you mentioned. However, I know quite a lot about prehistoric fish and giant lizards. Why? Are you planning to make a monster movie?"
Qin Feng gripped the steering wheel, eyes fixed on the road ahead, and answered softly, "Yes. One day, I am going to make another *King Kong*."
