Chapter 22: Watching Final Destination 4 and Wrapping Jurassic Park
The two of them entered the cinema.
Qin Feng stared at the giant screen. “You choose.”
Scarlett said, “Hmm... How about Final Destination 4? It starts in twenty minutes.”
“Okay. Do you want anything else to drink?”
“No, thanks. I’m full.”
Qin Feng bought two tickets.
They sat for a while before the theater began checking tickets.
Their seats were toward the back. Before long, the theater was full.
“Qin Feng, have you seen the first three Final Destination movies?”
“Of course. The plots in movies like this are pretty simple. The main attraction is seeing all those unlucky people die in different ways.”
Scarlett laughed. “That’s a very direct review.”
A few minutes later, the lights went out, and the movie officially began.
The film told the story of a young man named Nick. After foreseeing a horrific racing accident, he managed to escape with his friends.
But for them, the real misfortune had only just begun.
They still could not escape Death’s pursuit.
After Nick led his companions to safety, the first of them died in an accident.
The bloody images looked especially terrifying on the big screen.
Scarlett grew tense and clutched Qin Feng’s right hand tightly.
Qin Feng’s heart stirred. He held her hand and smiled.
So this was why young couples watched horror movies when they had just started dating!
There was one prerequisite, though: the man had to be braver than the woman. Otherwise, he would only end up embarrassing himself.
The story unfolded slowly.
Qin Feng never loosened his grip on her hand.
He sighed inwardly. This really was a well-made movie.
From time to time, he turned to look at Scarlett. He had to admit, her profile was truly beautiful.
Scarlett had been watching the film nervously when she finally noticed him staring at her.
“Tsk. Watch the movie, will you? Why are you looking at me?”
Qin Feng coughed lightly and turned his attention back to the screen.
An hour and a half passed quickly.
The movie ended.
The two of them slowly made their way outside.
Scarlett linked her arm through his and offered her verdict. “I feel like this movie needs a sequel. Every installment could have a different theme and different ways to die.”
“Are you thinking of acting in one?”
“I’d like to give it a try.”
“Forget it. There will be plenty of science-fiction films waiting for you in the future.”
“Qin Feng, why were you always looking at me just now? There wasn’t something on my face, was there?”
“No. I just thought you looked better than the movie.”
Scarlett’s pretty face flushed, and she smiled.
Qin Feng still took a taxi to escort her home.
When they arrived downstairs at her apartment building, Qin Feng got out and opened the door for her.
Scarlett suddenly hesitated.
It was already this late. Should she invite him upstairs for a while?
After all, they had known each other for quite some time.
She climbed out of the car with a shy, hesitant air.

She seemed to want to say something, but stopped herself.
“Qin Feng...”
“Hmm?”
“Why don’t you come up and—”
Ring-ring-ring...
At that moment, Qin Feng’s phone rang.
Scarlett quickly fell silent.
Qin Feng picked up the phone. It was Soth, another assistant director.
“Hello?”
“Hello, Qin Feng. You got plenty of rest today, right? The shooting schedule has been moved up. We have to go to Studio Six first thing tomorrow morning to film the final sequence.”
“You’d better make some preparations tonight.”
“...Okay, I understand.”
He hung up.
“I have to leave tomorrow, but fortunately, Studio Six is in the eastern suburbs. It isn’t too far away.”
“Oh...”
“You should go upstairs. I’ll call you.”
“All right. Bye.”
“Bye.”
Qin Feng watched her walk upstairs.
We’re going to be apart again for a little while, my Scarlett.
“Are you getting in or not, sir?” the driver called, turning around.
Qin Feng opened the door and got back into the car.

The following day.
Studio Six, eastern Los Angeles.
The final few interior scenes of Jurassic Park began filming there.
The crew arrived early.
The first-floor lobby of the laboratory had been constructed inside the studio.
The set-design team had begun preparing the location more than half a month earlier.
Two dinosaur fossil skeletons hung from the ceiling of the lobby.
Spielberg led everyone through the previously planned shots involving the hall.
Time passed quickly.
After several days of filming, all the missing scenes had been completed.
Only the final major sequence remained: the battle between two velociraptors and a Tyrannosaurus rex.
The scene would be created through a combination of mechanical models and CGI.
If filming went smoothly, the production could wrap that very day.
All the actors were in position.
All the crew members were ready as well.
Spielberg was full of energy and in excellent spirits.
Qin Feng was equally excited.
The assistant director clapped the slate, and filming officially began.
Four characters appeared in the frame:
The male lead, Grant; the female lead, Sattler; the little girl, Lex; and the little boy, Tim.
The four of them followed an escape corridor to the upper level of the lobby.

Two fossil skeletons hung from the ceiling above them.
One of the velociraptors spotted them and let out several hissing cries.
They quickly climbed the stairs onto the suspended dinosaur fossils. The fossils had been designed by the props department to come apart at any moment.
The velociraptor suddenly leaped up and smashed the Diplodocus skeleton into three large sections.
Suspended by wires, the four actors clung to the broken fossils as they spun through the air.
At that moment, the safety cables above came loose, and all four of them fell to the ground one after another.
The props crew dumped the fine fossil fragments prepared in advance over them, creating the effect of everything collapsing at once.
In the wide shot, the four of them climbed to their feet in a panic and huddled together.
“Ahhh!”
The little girl let out a scream.
The two velociraptors surrounded them. Both were mechanical models, and the four hurriedly dodged them.
One of the raptors was about to lunge in for the kill.
Suddenly, the Tyrannosaurus appeared and clamped its jaws around the creature!
The camera looked down from above as the four actors watched in shock from behind a rock.
After that, the scene would combine live-action footage with CGI effects.
According to the storyboard, the Tyrannosaurus killed the raptor. The other velociraptor immediately ran over and leaped onto the Tyrannosaurus’s back.
The four actors seized the opportunity and hurried out of the building.
The velociraptor continued biting at the Tyrannosaurus. The Tyrannosaurus retaliated with a bite of its own, then hurled it onto a nearby fossil.
Crash!
The velociraptor died, and the fossil collapsed.
The Tyrannosaurus threw back its head and roared furiously in the middle of the lobby as a banner slowly descended from above.
Most of this sequence would have to be completed with CGI during post-production.
After a tense day of filming, the cinematographer had captured every planned shot.
Finally, Spielberg shouted, “Cut!”
He rose to his feet and began applauding, his voice filled with excitement.
“The live-action filming is finished! It was absolutely perfect! Thank you for all your hard work!”
Everyone present joined in the applause.
The live-action portion of the production had finally come to an end.
The principal actors came over, including the two children.
Although Jeff Goldblum had no scenes that day, he had remained on set to watch.
Spielberg hugged them one by one.
Patting the young actors on the head, he said, “You both did wonderfully, children. I’m proud of you.”
The two children were so moved that they nearly burst into tears.
The scene they had just filmed had been extraordinarily tense.
The three principal actors and Qin Feng embraced one another in turn.
“Thank you for all your hard work,” Qin Feng said.
“You were wonderful too, Qin Feng,” Sam Neill replied.
Jeff Goldblum patted Qin Feng on the shoulder. “We’ve wrapped.”
Laura Dern gazed across the entire crew, tears glistening in her eyes.
What an unforgettable experience this had been!
