Chapter 52: Expanding the Labor Force
The middle-aged man was nothing more than an ordinary person, his attacks chaotic and uncoordinated, flailing wildly like a turtle’s punch. Feng Kun kicked him several meters away with a single blow.
Silence fell around them.
The gap between the two sides was glaringly obvious.
Feng Kun sneered coldly, “All of you come at me together! Want to challenge me? I’d lose just by moving a bit!”
He possessed the Tyrannosaurus fruit. Even without transforming into a beast, his physique was incomparable to theirs.
Coupled with years of physical labor, his constitution was even stronger.
Being able to kill zombies more easily meant more points, and he had long ago exchanged points for the Three-Color Haki training method.
Although he hadn’t awakened Haki yet, his physique had improved further, utterly crushing those who dared not fight.
He was arrogant and proud; otherwise, he wouldn’t have dared to contemplate taming three phantom beasts.
If not for being subdued by Ao Xin’s single move, he wouldn’t have agreed to be a subordinate.
His arrogant words fueled the crowd’s anger, and Feng Kun’s taunts continued:
“A bunch of weaklings, have you ever killed a zombie? You still want equal treatment as us?”
“The leader giving you one point is already too much! I say just give you food and drink!”
“You think you deserve even one point?”
The mockery enraged the crowd. A burly young man shouted angrily:
“Let me try! I’m going to break that arm of his completely!”
No sooner had he spoken than Feng Kun was already before him, delivering another kick. The man was knocked down before even entering the fight, clutching his stomach and crying out in pain.
Feng Kun plunged into the crowd, giving them no chance. Using one arm and both legs as weapons, he swept through all directions!
The onlookers were terrified, feeling as if they were fighting not a man, but a savage beast in human form.
Soon, many fell or fled.
In the end, only Feng Kun remained on the scene.
Ao Xin stopped Feng Kun from pursuing further and addressed the crowd:
“If you want points, come forward. If you don’t want to work, suit yourself!”
The crowd exchanged glances but ultimately had to bow to reality. A young man in a sleeveless shirt stepped forward quietly, “Boss, I’m willing to work!”
Ao Xin nodded and pointed to the side of the Labor Corps, “Stand over there.”
With him speaking first, others gradually came forward.
Ao Xin said to Meng Kui:
“Organize and register them; these people are now under your command.”
Meng Kui agreed and began busily at work.
Without pen or paper, he had everyone add him as a friend on the God-Given Space app and recorded their names in an internal group chat.
He sent Feng Kun with ten men to haul building materials and equipment, while assigning tasks to everyone else.
Those who could operate the sand dredger were sent to bring it over; others cleaned the riverbank or designed base construction plans.
Meng Kui himself led a few people, fighting off the zombies gradually attracted while supervising the work.
Ao Xin snapped the bone of the giant python so it couldn’t move, pulling out the steel whip from its tail, then looked westward.
To the west lay the provincial capital.
It was also one of the most dangerous places in the country for zombies.
As a populous city equipped with firearms, the zombies there had evolved to the level of three-star fur zombies.
There was even speculation about the existence of four-star armed zombies, but no one dared to investigate.
Many powerful fighters inside the provincial capital had already died, their lives overshadowed by fear.
Yet these formidable zombies were precisely Ao Xin’s training targets.
He could kill ordinary zombies with bare hands instantly; one-star flesh zombies were dispatched with a swing of his steel whip.
Even two-star zombies were no match after he transformed into his dragon form.
Such overwhelming battles, though seemingly trivial, were invaluable for cultivating Haki.
Without the talent of a Haki prodigy, he might just be awakening now, at best reaching the Bronze Skin realm.
Thus, the provincial capital was hell for others but a sacred training ground for him.
After some thought, he returned to the giant python, breaking every bone to prevent it from suddenly attacking.
He instructed Meng Kui to stuff zombie corpses into the python’s mouth daily.
For the first time, he checked the group chat of Biancheng’s local city on the God-Given Space app and said:
“I am Ao Xin, a Qinglong Fruit user. If zombies appear, contact me anytime. I will handle it.”
His message silenced the entire group.
After a while, the chat suddenly exploded:
“Wow! The Qinglong boss is here!”
“Boss, can you take me under your wing? I’m willing to have your children!”
“Boss, how did you become so strong? Can you teach me your secrets?”
The crowd showered Ao Xin with flattery, even ignoring his offer to clear zombies for them.
Finally, a message buried among the flood of replies caught his attention:
“Boss, there’s a zombie at the South City Auto Repair Shop! It’s so powerful, even big trucks can’t stop it. Many people have died! I want to run, but the zombie is outside, and I’m too scared to move.”
Though just text, the words conveyed a sense of despair.
Ao Xin directly clicked the sender’s name: “I’m coming right away!”
With that, he left the God-Given Space, transformed into the Qinglong, and soared into the sky.
Flying from the north to the south side of the city, his stamina was now sufficient for such exertion.
Approaching the auto repair shop, he spotted the zombie rampaging below.
Wherever it roamed, no one could stop it.
Glancing southwest, he saw a large group hiding in a chemical plant.
Their leader was named Zhang Heng.
A talented individual, but Ao Xin had no time for him now.
Descending from the sky, he unleashed a thunderous roar, striking the zombie’s forehead.
Amid the zombie’s furious roar, a pair of dragon claws pierced its shoulders, lifting it off the ground.
He flipped midair, slamming the zombie headfirst into the concrete.
The impact shattered the hard cement, leaving a large crater.
Shifting from dragon to dragon-human form, he removed the steel whip from his back and struck the zombie’s head, splattering its brains.
On a nearby residential building, behind a window, a twin-tailed girl watched the Qinglong’s descent and effortless zombie kill, her wide eyes filled with admiration.
“A true strong one. Is this what strength in the apocalypse looks like?”
She wanted to greet Ao Xin as he flew by, but he didn’t notice her and sped westward.
Her spirits dipped briefly but quickly lifted.
“I want to kill zombies too! I want to be strong like him!”
After killing the zombie, Ao Xin headed west.
When his stamina was nearly spent, he landed on a tall building, looking down at the chaotic streets below.
He entered the God-Given Space and left a message for his parents and sister in the family chat.
He also informed Meng Kui and Liu Xiyao to watch for new zombies appearing in Biancheng.
They would be excellent opponents for both of them.
In the apocalypse, individual strength is always paramount.
