Chapter 36: Feng Kun's Ambition
In a high-end residential complex in the western part of Bian City, over a hundred people were gathered. Standing before them was a man whose body was covered in scales.
"Mythical Zoan? Hmph!" He slammed a pirate-style blade, which he had redeemed from the Divine Gift Space, heavily into the ground. "Bian City belongs to me!"
"Qian Yi, did you find out the information?" The scales on the man's body receded, revealing a rugged, determined face. He was exceptionally muscular with dark, weathered skin, as if he had spent a lifetime exposed to the elements.
Looking around, the small complex consisted of individual villas, surrounded by two-and-a-half-meter-tall iron fences. Now, these fences were reinforced with an additional wall of cement to block the zombies. It was as if this place were a sanctuary in a chaotic world.
In the villas behind him, disheveled women with dull, lifeless eyes watched from the windows. Ranging from teenagers to women in their thirties, they were all fair-skinned and delicate—a stark contrast to the rough, coarse-looking men outside.
"Boss, I found out. They’re at the Little Sun Complex, an older residential area. According to group members living nearby, the zombies inside that complex have already been cleared out." A middle-aged man with messy hair spoke with a hint of anxiety. "Brother Kun, that’s a Mythical Zoan user. Can we really take them on?"
Before the words had even faded, a skinny, one-armed man interjected immediately, "So what if it’s a Mythical Zoan? Brother Kun is an Ancient Zoan! Marco’s Phoenix isn't necessarily stronger than King’s Pteranodon! Besides, Brother Kun has an even more powerful Ancient Zoan fruit than that!"
They seemed to have great confidence in their leader. "We have more people than them, too. The apocalypse has just begun, and everyone’s stamina is limited—we can wear them down until they die!"
"Exactly! Bian City belongs to Brother Kun! In the future, all the women in this city will be ours!"
These theories and praises were music to Feng Kun’s ears. Before the apocalypse, he had been an ordinary construction worker. By pure chance, he had obtained a strange fruit. He wasn't a fan of the *One Piece* series and didn't recognize it, but out of curiosity, he had taken a bite and accidentally swallowed the rest.
To his surprise, when the apocalypse arrived, he gained the power of a formidable ancient creature. He could easily slaughter zombies and had managed to rally all his fellow workers under his command. He had occupied this high-end complex, killed the wealthy residents, and taken their wives and daughters for himself.
To him, these rich people were no good anyway, and killing them in the apocalypse brought no guilt. He had even used his men to transport limestone and gravel from construction sites to build a high wall around the complex, forming the primitive foundation of a secure base.
As for his own wife and children? If you have power in the apocalypse, you’ll never lack women. Of course, some workers had been attached to their families and insisted on going home, but most of them had died on the way.
Feng Kun sneered. He had long wanted to get rid of the ugly, overweight middle-aged woman at home. The thought of bringing her here was a joke! He had even suspected for years that his teenage child wasn't his own.
Relying on his powerful Ancient Zoan abilities and the assistance of his workers, he had killed a significant number of zombies. He had even used points from the Divine Gift Space to redeem a pirate blade, and everyone here obeyed his every command. All the women in the house were his to enjoy.
"Mythical Zoan? Even a Mythical Zoan has to kneel before me!"
Feng Kun knew there were other ability users in Bian City, but their strength had been lackluster so far. Now, equipped with a weapon and practicing Haki every day, he felt his body becoming far stronger than before. Consequently, he had decided to sweep through the city and eliminate the other ability users. Those who submitted would thrive; those who resisted would perish!
"Grab your gear and follow me!" Feng Kun hoisted his blade onto his shoulder and gestured with a sweep of his hand. The hundred-plus subordinates moved out in unison.
They opened the reinforced gate and walked out of the complex. The women inside watched the scene with indifference. Even though the workers hadn't left anyone to guard them, the women had no intention of fleeing. Remaining here meant humiliation, but it meant survival. If they left, there was only death.

On the streets of Bian City, Ao Xin was crushing zombie skulls while instructing Ao Chen on combat techniques.
"That’s not right. Since you lack raw strength, you must fully utilize your advantage in speed."
"Use the blade like this. Pay attention to how you exert your force..."
Although Ao Xin didn't use a blade anymore, it had been his primary weapon in his past life. While he wasn't exactly a master, he was more than capable of guiding a novice like Ao Chen.
Ao Chen listened intently, firmly memorizing every combat point Ao Xin shared. She was highly perceptive, and her improvement in combat skills was astonishing.
With a sudden burst of speed, she darted behind a zombie and slashed. The blade cut deep into the bone, and as the zombie roared and turned, the girl had already pivoted back behind it.
Ao Xin casually crushed another zombie’s skull. Seeing one lunging toward Ao Chen, he didn't intervene, wanting to train his younger sister’s reaction time.
Her blade severed a neck bone just as the zombie behind her closed in. Without looking back, the girl stepped to the side and swung her blade upward, carving the flesh from the creature's arm.
"Oh! Not bad!"
Ao Xin was surprised. This reaction speed was more than just simple reflexes—it was a sign of the awakening of Observation Haki! He hadn't expected Ao Chen to awaken Observation Haki before Armament Haki. With its assistance, Ao Chen fought with even greater ease.
"You need to learn to discard useless movements and achieve the most efficient attacks with the least amount of stamina!"
Ao Xin continued to share his experience, confident that with her sharp mind, his sister would grow into a powerhouse in this apocalyptic world.
"I recall a faction in the west of Bian City, entrenched in a high-end complex. They are quite strong, and most importantly, these people were construction workers before the apocalypse; they are far more skilled in infrastructure than anyone else."
Ao Xin quickly synthesized the memories from his past life. Zombie evolution was rapid; buildings and iron gates would soon no longer stop them. If he wanted to build a secure base, these construction-savvy workers would be invaluable.
Furthermore, water was a major issue. With the water and power supply cut off, his own reserves were running low. To ensure long-term survival, it would be best to build a base along the banks of the Yellow River. Not only would there be an abundant water source, but more importantly, there were vast deposits of Seastone in the riverbed of the Yellow River near the Bian River section.
Seastone was not only a bane to ability users, but its extreme durability also made it the best building material in the apocalypse.
The leader of that construction faction was named Feng Kun, an Ancient Zoan ability user. If he remembered correctly, his fruit was the:
Zoan-type, Dragon-Dragon Fruit, Ancient Zoan, Tyrannosaurus Rex Model!
