Chapter 4: Chu Wan Ning—Isn't She Just Remarried?
Just wait for her to repay kindness with gratitude in the future!
The little bundle was happily oblivious to the fact that Chu Wanning was already planning to run away!
The two of them each enjoyed the delicacies on their own plates, faces full of contentment.
The servants nearby were stunned!
The little devil was surprisingly well-behaved during the meal!
Previously, every meal involved chasing her around the entire house just to get her to eat a little, and whatever little she did eat was only because of a single glance from Master Lu.
When Lu Siyen came downstairs, he clearly saw this scene; his eyes darkened slightly as he walked toward his seat.
“Sister-in-law?”
“Hm?”
“The little devil is here?”
“Mm!”
“Sister-in-law?” Qingbao glanced at the plate.
Chu Wanning instantly understood.
“Here! Thank you for bringing me back yesterday.”
Lu Siyen said nothing, politely took the plate, and after a brief thanks, noticed it was all the usual types of breakfast he normally ate.
It seemed this brat really liked the girl and had already sold out his own brother so quickly!
The usually quiet manor felt livelier with Chu Wanning around.
Though they still ate silently, the small gestures between them made breakfast warm and pleasant, leaving all three very satisfied.
“Qingbao, are you heading to school?”
Chu Wanning tested the waters, not knowing exactly how old he was but certain he must be going to school.
“Sister-in-law, will you accompany me?”
The little bundle blinked with big, round, sparkling eyes—utterly adorable!
Chu Wanning: “...” She shouldn’t have spoken up!
“Thanks, sister-in-law, let’s hurry! Little devil, you escort us!”
Qingbao placed his hands on his hips, looking tough and unapproachable.
Lu Siyen remained expressionless, calm as ever.
The other servants were clearly accustomed to Qingbao’s attitude toward Master Lu at home.
Yes! Outside, he always showed full respect to his brother!
“Lu Bei!”
“Yes, Master Lu, the car is ready!”
Chu Wanning: “...” Couldn’t they at least ask her opinion?
In the end, Chu Wanning was pulled into a modified bulletproof Rolls-Royce by Qingbao. A quick glance told her this car was definitely secure and extremely valuable.
If it were made by her, it would be a hundred times better!
“Sister-in-law, will you pick me up from school this afternoon?” Qingbao asked expectantly, his eyes fixed on Chu Wanning.
She couldn’t bring herself to refuse; who could bear to see such a soft, adorable little bundle disappointed?
“Mm, yes!”
She finally agreed!
“Yay! Brother is usually super busy; the two of us—”
“I’ll come pick you up with her!”
Before Qingbao could finish, Lu Siyen interrupted directly.
Qingbao’s small head was filled with question marks!
He was still planning to spend some time alone with sister-in-law to promote himself as a headache-inducing brother!
He was young but understood a lot!
Though the swarm of butterflies around his brother never ceased—either attracted by his looks or his money—not a single one cared for who he really was.
Because his reputation was less than favorable; adjectives commonly used in boss romance novels—ruthless, bloodthirsty, merciless, estranged from family, cruel tactics—fit him perfectly.
But sister-in-law was different. He had observed her; when she looked at his brother, her eyes were clear, bright, pure.
And now, it seemed his brother didn’t dislike her!
Very good!
Anyone Qingbao approved of had to be top-notch!
Still, instinct made him question, “Huh?”
He started school at three years old, and counting today, this was the first time his brother had ever come to pick him up from school!
He would be surprised if it were otherwise!
“Not willing?” Lu Siyen raised an eyebrow.
“Yay! I was willing then! I’m definitely the happiest and most handsome guy in the universe. Brother and sister-in-law are picking me up from school together today!”
Sitting in the middle, Qingbao naturally grabbed their hands and placed them together.
Chu Wanning instinctively tried to pull hers away but was suddenly grasped by a large hand.
Looking into the man's eyes, she felt his gaze silently asking if she could bear to disappoint the little bundle.
Luckily, they soon arrived at the school. After sending the little bundle through the gates, the two returned to the car. Chu Wanning closed her eyes, thinking about what was next. She definitely could not leave China for now.
Her immediate priority was to inform her mentors who had raised and taught her about her situation, including uncovering the full story behind Leng Ning’s death.
As for other identities, she wasn’t worried; besides her teachers, no one had ever seen Leng Ning’s true face.
After Lu Siyen settled back into the car, he opened his laptop and began working, occasionally glancing casually to see what the girl was up to.
Suddenly, Chu Wanning turned to Lu Siyen.
“Could you buy me a phone? I’ll keep accounts and pay you back!” The girl blinked her fox-like eyes timidly. Lu Siyen’s heart suddenly skipped a beat.
When she was taken onto the cruise ship, all her belongings had been thoroughly searched—clearly with the intent to let her die! And indeed, the original owner died!
She just didn’t know if that worthless father had burned his hands on the billion.
Thinking of this, the murderous intent in Chu Wanning’s eyes was barely concealed. She quickly lowered her head to hide it.
Lu Siyen closed his laptop and slowly leaned toward the girl. “Miss Chu, you’ve mentioned repaying me twice this morning. How about we do some business?”
The man’s voice was pleasant and magnetic, and Chu Wanning actually nodded.
She caught a fleeting, triumphant smile from Lu Siyen.
“Become Lu Siqing’s sister-in-law! Whatever you want, I have it and will give it to you! Until you graduate from Saint Ding Academy!”
Chu Wanning immediately weighed the feasibility of this proposition in her mind. Though she initially wanted to leave, after consideration, she found the offer perfect.
The things she needed to accomplish in China would be far easier with Lu Siyen as her backing.
Returning to that worthless father was impossible, but she would definitely reclaim the company and the house.
As for her residence registration, she wasn’t worried; her mother had registered her as an independent household head since birth.
She just needed to renew some documents.
“So, I just have to play the role of Qingbao’s sister-in-law?”
A spark shone in Chu Wanning’s eyes as she asked again.
“Yes. If you want to leave later, I will let you go,” the man replied calmly, revealing no emotion.
Chu Wanning stared at his breathtakingly handsome face, pouted—such a pity, having it in hand but unable to enjoy it!
Sigh!
“Alright, I agree. While I’m here, I’ll protect you both. Trust me,” Chu Wanning vowed solemnly.
She couldn’t just freeload in this household; there would be plenty of chances to tell them later that it was Lu Siyen who made the business profitable!
“Mm, head to the civil affairs bureau!” Lu Siyen instructed Lu Bei.
“Ah!”
“Ah!”
Chu Wanning and Lu Bei spoke simultaneously.
Lu Bei immediately fell silent and started the car. He truly witnessed how Master Lu had managed to win a wife—impressive!
Chu Wanning furrowed her brows and asked directly, “Do we really need to get a marriage certificate? Won’t that make me a remarried woman if I leave later???”
“Yes, Lu Siqing is not easy to fool. He’s no longer a three-year-old child.”
“How old is he, then?”
