Chapter 22: Do Not Attempt Remote Control.
“Madam, we’ll accompany you!” More than twenty of Lu Siyen’s men present spoke in unison.
Lu Siyen turned around, casting a cold glare, but they paid no attention.
As long as the madam is here, Lord Lu wouldn’t harm them.
“I’ll accompany you,” Lu Siyen said helplessly.
“Good, all of you come along. We’ll need your help moving people later. They’re not worth wasting bullets on; this will be enough!” Chu Wanning raised a weapon that looked somewhat like a handgun, yet not quite.
“Give me one more minute!”
She flashed a bloodthirsty smile toward the position of a surveillance camera, her eyes icy and sharp.
Then, pulling out the pad she carried, she executed a series of lightning-fast operations before stuffing it back into her bag.
At the Qian family villa.
Qian Chengzhi, Lu Bofei, and Lu Xifeng felt a chill run down their backs under that gaze. They had investigated Chu Wanning thoroughly, but no one had expected her aura just now to resemble Lu Siyen’s so closely.
“Second brother, will this succeed?” Lu Xifeng asked slyly. “The old man is leaning more and more toward that bastard Lu Siyen!”
Every time they returned to the old Lu family estate and tried to secure some rights for their children, the old man would scold them back, saying that Lu Siyen was now in charge of the Lu Corporation, and he was too old to intervene!
Hearing this always made her teeth itch with resentment. Why did her children not receive the old man’s favor? She had even arranged for Qian Chengzhi to marry into the Lu family, hoping to claim a larger share. Yet, even with children bearing the Lu surname, the old man gave nothing extra.
How could she swallow such bitterness? It was all because of Lu Siyen. If he died, the Lu family would be theirs.
Why hadn’t her elder brother’s family taken their son and disappeared forever from the Lu family?
Thinking of this, she also recalled Lu Siqing, only five years old, and how the old man had several times expressed at family banquets his desire to raise him personally.
“It will! They’re already near the chemical factory. Within a three-kilometer radius, the explosives will detonate. Lu Siyen won’t escape this time. The first time they failed to kill him, but as soon as the button is pressed, he will surely die,” Lu Bofei said with a vicious gleam in his eyes.
“Second brother, Xifeng, the video feed is down!” Qian Chengzhi said anxiously.
“Did they all go inside just now?” Lu Bofei abruptly stood, glaring at the snowy static on the screen.
“Yes, yes, they went in. The feed disappeared only after they entered. I saw it clearly,” Qian Chengzhi replied shakily.
If this failed, he already knew what his fate would be.
This was his chemical factory, under his name!
Lu Siyen wasn’t foolish; he knew it was their doing.
To go against the Lu family was like bargaining with a tiger. Over the years, he had served Lu Xifeng like a servant, hoping for a gamble. But now, he felt increasingly panicked, sensing that everything was truly over.
“Notify the mercenaries to move immediately!” Lu Bofei ordered.
“Yes, Second Lord!” the bodyguard responded.
One minute later.
“Second Lord, we can’t reach them!”
“What?” Qian Chengzhi panicked. “It’s over, it’s completely over!”
“Shut up, coward! I was blind to choose you!” Lu Xifeng cursed fiercely at Qian Chengzhi. “Second brother, what do we do now?”
Lu Bofei walked over to the window facing northeast, remote control in hand. “Nephew, don’t blame your uncle for being ruthless. Don’t ever cross me again in your next life!”
Then he pressed the button.
But!
There was no explosion or sound.
“How can this be? The remote must be broken!” Lu Bofei became frantic, checking the remote repeatedly.
This was the entire detonation system he bought for a hundred million yuan on the dark web. The remote worked not just in the same city, but even in other countries. It was waterproof, fireproof, and had a self-destruct safety feature. What was happening?
“Let’s go, drive to the chemical plant!” Lu Bofei said, heading out.
Lu Xifeng grabbed his arm. “Second brother, you can’t go. If Lu Siyen isn’t dead, going now is walking into a trap. Whether it succeeds or not, just leave the capital immediately.”
Lu Xifeng knew Lu Siyen’s methods well; being caught by him was worse than death.
She remembered last time the old man’s intervention saved their lives. This time, his face wouldn’t help.
She had to escape!
With that thought, she rushed to the study, opened the safe, grabbed her emergency survival kit, and prepared to leave.
“Xifeng, where are you going?”
“To escape! Do you want to wait to die?” She said, pulling free from Qian Chengzhi and walking on.
Lu Bofei snapped back to reality and strode downstairs.
At the abandoned chemical factory.
Chu Wanning and Lu Siyen led from the front. Inside warehouse number two, a dozen or so men armed with submachine guns were on high alert.
Chu Wanning made a stop gesture, found a spot, ensured everything was secure, then turned to the group.
“I’ll drug them. Cover their mouths and noses afterward.”
The others hesitated but nodded.
Chu Wanning then precisely fired a white bullet into the warehouse.
Soon after came the thuds of people collapsing to the ground.
“We can go in now!” Chu Wanning strode confidently toward the warehouse. She needed to quickly administer the antidote to Qing Bao.
Before her words finished, everyone saw Chu Wanning already at the warehouse door. Such speed startled them all.
Lu Siyen and his men followed swiftly.
Chu Wanning picked up Lu Siqing lying in a corner and placed a pill into his mouth.
The pill dissolved instantly, no water needed.
“Unload the guns, help the people, interrogate them, then hand them over to that person!” Lu Siyen ordered coldly.
“Yes, Lord Lu!”
Lu Bei, Lu Dong, Lu Xi, and Lu Zhong replied in unison. None of them could believe Madam had subdued the desperate men in seconds.
“Lord Lu, the chemical factory has bombs. We should leave quickly!” Lu Zhong noticed the remote control.
“Don’t worry; the bombs won’t detonate unless someone physically ignites them. A Yan has already handled that.”
Chu Wanning had just hacked all surrounding signals and surveillance. Aside from manual triggering, no remote control would work.
“Go take care of it!”
“Yes!” Lu Zhong went to work.
At that moment, Lu Siqing slowly woke.
He immediately saw Chu Wanning and Lu Siyen, disbelief in his eyes.
“Sis-in-law?”
“Is that really you, sis-in-law?”
“Wuwuwu, they were so bad, they kidnapped me, wuwuwu~”
Lu Siyen: “......” No brother left in his eyes?
“It’s alright, it’s alright. Sis-in-law will take you home. Are you hurt? Do you feel unwell anywhere?” Chu Wanning asked while checking him, discovering he was only frightened but otherwise fine.
“I’m hungry!” Lu Siqing rubbed his belly, which obligingly rumbled.
Chu Wanning smiled softly. “Let’s go home and eat!”
Just then, Lu Siyen stepped on something, producing a clicking sound.
