Beijing Suburbs Base.

Qi Gui had been waiting for Chu Wanning since early morning. He had paced back and forth between the main gate and the treatment room more times than he could count.

"Dr. Qi, she wouldn't have just run off, would she? It's been so long, and she's not here yet. She really has no sense of responsibility at all," Fang Ya remarked, her tone dripping with sarcasm.

"Shut up. Weren't you told to take the day off? Why are you still here?" Qi Gui kept his eyes fixed on the entrance, not even sparing her a glance.

It seemed that whatever he said yesterday had fallen on deaf ears. Well, one cannot save those who are hell-bent on their own destruction. It was clear at a glance that the Madam was not someone to be trifled with; Fang Ya was surely headed for trouble.

"I just wanted to observe and learn," Fang Ya immediately shifted into a pitiful, delicate pose.

Qi Gui ignored her.

"Professor Qi, Master Lu and the Madam have arrived!" shouted Zhou Yi, another young doctor on the medical team. He had been completely won over by the Madam’s medical prowess the day before.

"Finally!" Qi Gui was visibly excited.

The Rolls-Royce pulled up directly at the entrance of the covered walkway, still some distance from the treatment room.

"Wife, let me carry you the rest of the way." Lu Siyan was worried about her comfort; he had carried her into the car, so he naturally felt it was his job to carry her out. He saw absolutely no issue with this.

Lu Bei: "..." He heard nothing.

Chu Wanning: "..." Was it too late to pretend she didn't know this man?

Meeting his beautiful, expectant gaze, Chu Wanning found she couldn't refuse and reached out her arms.

Seeing the Madam in Master Lu’s arms, Qi Gui’s first reaction was concern—was she injured? Was she ill? He could examine her if she needed.

Fang Ya found the sight blindingly offensive. As she drew closer, she caught a glimpse of the faint red marks on Chu Wanning’s neck; she knew exactly what those were.

"Master Lu, is the Madam alright?" Qi Gui asked anxiously.

"I’m just happy to carry her!" Lu Siyan replied coldly.

Fine! You’re the boss, whatever you say goes!

"Dr. Qi, please make the arrangements. For the three packets of medicine on the right, boil three bowls of water down to one; I will have them drink it once I finish the acupuncture. For the three packets on the left, prepare them for a medicated bath." Chu Wanning stepped down from Lu Siyan’s arms and gave instructions while checking the condition of the three patients.

"Yes, Madam. I’ll see to it immediately. Fang Ya, Zhou Yi, come with me."

Zhou Yi was delighted to be given a task. Fang Ya, however, lingered, reluctant to move, until Zhou Yi gave her a tug.

Once outside the treatment room, Qi Gui sent Zhou Yi to boil the medicine and assigned Fang Ya to prepare the medicated bath, while he returned inside himself.

"I’m about to begin the acupuncture," she said to Lu Siyan after sterilizing her hands and the silver needles.

Lu Siyan’s lips curled into a smile. His wife was speaking specifically to him!

"Lu Bei, help me remove their shirts."

"Yes, Madam!" Lu Bei immediately jumped into action.

"Madam, let me help too!" Qi Gui stepped up to one of the beds and began working.

Chu Wanning had no reason to refuse. Once the three were undressed, she went from one to the other, administering the needles.

"Dr. Qi, if you are interested in acupuncture, you may study it." Chu Wanning was concerned that others might be poisoned by the 'Bewitching Powder' in the future. She didn't yet know who was producing the toxin, and if she weren't around, they needed to be able to handle it themselves.

"I... I may learn it?" Qi Gui’s voice trembled with excitement.

"Of course. You work for my husband, so I am willing to teach you," Chu Wanning said calmly.

There were fewer than three people in the world capable of neutralizing the Bewitching Powder. To be taught it himself—how could he not be moved?

"I would like to take you as my master!" He started to kneel, but Chu Wanning immediately helped him up.

"Let’s find a better day for that. Saving lives comes first!"

Chu Wanning did not decline; taking on a disciple was fine. She realized that in this lifetime, she would be more connected to the warmth of the human world than she ever was as Leng Ning.

"Yes, yes! Master, please, continue!"

If the outside world knew of Dr. Qi Gui’s actions today, they wouldn't believe it even if they were beaten to death. Even Lu Bei hadn't expected this.

Lu Siyan remained calm, his gaze never leaving Chu Wanning. He loved seeing her in this state—when she was fully immersed in her work, she seemed like a completely different person.

After more than an hour of acupuncture, the patients' blood gradually turned from black to a healthy red, and only then did Chu Wanning remove the needles.

"Lu Bei, help them clean up. I’ll leave the rest to you all. Once the medicated bath is finished, all the toxins will be purged. They should be fine after a few days of rest."

Chu Wanning had expended a great deal of energy and felt somewhat weary. Seeing she was finished, Lu Siyan immediately swept her into his arms.

"Thank you for your hard work, Wife. Thank you!"

Lu Siyan had prepared himself for the worst-case scenario; he hadn't expected that the wife he’d picked up would be the one to save their lives.

"I told you, we are husband and wife!" Chu Wanning understood how important these men were to Lu Siyan.

"Master, please go back and rest!" Qi Gui had already grown accustomed to his new form of address.

"Mhm. Have the medical center set up a pharmaceutical lab and stock it with the necessary herbs."

"Yes, yes, I will arrange it immediately."

With their ample funding, he was determined to prepare the best for the Madam.

"Let’s go." Seeing that Lu Bei was finished, she looked up at Lu Siyan and said, "Could you prepare a pharmaceutical lab for me at the manor as well?"

Chu Wanning didn't know why, but every time she spoke to Lu Siyan, she found herself becoming unintentionally soft and delicate, losing all her usual edge. She had only just realized this herself.

"Of course. Anything my wife wants. I’ll have Lu Nan prepare it as soon as we get back." Lu Siyan would naturally satisfy his wife’s every wish. He would also stock it with rare herbs; she would surely like that.

Chu Wanning knew her Fourth Master would certainly send her all sorts of medicinal pellets, but she also enjoyed tinkering with new concoctions herself. Moreover, her social circle would inevitably expand because of Lu Siyan, leading to higher consumption of her supplies, so having a lab was a prudent precaution.

Just as they got into the car, Chu Wanning’s phone rang. Seeing the number, her elegant brows furrowed slightly.
