Chapter 1: Mutual Destruction!
"Traitor!"
Leng Ning ignored the blood pouring from her arm, swiftly snatched up a submachine gun, and dashed toward the cockpit.
She cracked the code in three seconds. The door slid open, and in a flash, she darted inside, sealing it behind her.
The pilot’s face drained of color when he saw Leng Ning, his eyes wide with shock. The next instant, he felt something cold and hard press against his neck—a gun.
She had actually been betrayed by people who had worked alongside her in the same organization for years. Now, her only option was to use the plane’s radio to contact the control tower and explain everything. Even if her mission failed and she died, she would not let the traitors succeed.
But fate was not so kind.
Leng Ning cursed under her breath, realizing the radio was dead.
The people locked outside hammered relentlessly at the cockpit door.
Just as she tried to use the control panel to activate her backup transmitter, the plane suddenly lurched in violent turbulence.
"What did you do?" Leng Ning’s gaze was fierce.
"I activated the explosives. In one minute, the plane will be destroyed, and no one will survive," the pilot replied calmly.
Everyone on board was involved. After this job, they should have been able to enjoy unimaginable wealth. Who could have foreseen that the people outside would be so incompetent? The plan had been meticulous, with weapons, poison, and every detail accounted for, yet they still couldn’t kill a single woman. With her alive, there was only one ending for them all—mutual destruction.
Without hesitation, Leng Ning shot the pilot, threw open the door, and as she did, those outside instantly understood: the plan had failed, the plane was set to self-destruct.
Their hatred for Leng Ning reached its peak. If they were to die, she would not escape either.
A dozen people surged forward, blocking her escape.
Leng Ning’s expression remained unchanged. She dispatched each one with unerring shots and kicked them aside.
Just as she grabbed a parachute to jump, a woman she had never noticed before suddenly wrapped herself tightly around Leng Ning’s waist, lashing herself to a seat.
One minute. Only one second left.
Very well!
"Then as you wish!" Leng Ning’s voice was icy, her eyes resolute as she faced death without fear.
Flames blossomed in the sky, swallowing everything in an instant.
Leng Ning’s long, glorious life ended there.
…
Off the coast of China.
A luxurious yacht, eight or nine decks high, cut a striking figure upon the sea.
The lower decks were dedicated to entertainment, while the upper four housed the cabins—an extravagance bordering on the obscene.
A group of young heirs and heiresses from elite society were gathered in the first-floor bar, toasting and playing a cruel party game.
The loser would be chosen, their feet tied, and lowered into the sea ten times as punishment. If an accident occurred, the compensation was one hundred million.
Chu Wan Ning was the one chosen for punishment.
She had been sold out by her own father, stepmother, and stepsister for twenty million. If she died, they would receive one hundred million in compensation.
Now, she lay like a dead fish in a forgotten corner of the deck. If one looked closely, beneath her oversized coat was a small child, four or five years old, cradled tightly in her arms.
She had scooped up the child during her last plunge into the sea.
Declared dead, she drew no attention.
At that moment, several helicopters thundered above the yacht.
Inside the cabin, the sky was heavy with clouds and the pressure was oppressive.
A man, dressed in a tailored suit and shirt with the collar loosened, sat with striking impatience on his handsome face. His lips were set in a thin, dangerous line.
Yet, despite the danger, there was an irresistible allure about him—one that could tempt someone to risk death itself.
"Master Lu, the tracking device shows Young Master is here," a bodyguard in black reported, tablet in hand. "Also, the hijacked plane has been shot down. All confirmed dead."
"Find him!" The man’s voice was chilling and ruthless.
In the blink of an eye, bodyguards leapt from the helicopters in swift, orderly fashion, landing on the deck.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Three gunshots rang out above.
The network was hacked; all devices were paused.
In an instant, the once-boisterous yacht fell utterly silent.
"Master Lu is handling matters. Please remain where you are and silent for half an hour. All expenses today are covered by Master Lu," the lead bodyguard announced through a loudspeaker, his tone both commanding and colloquial.
Not a word was spoken in reply.
Master Lu? In China, only one in the capital dared use that name.
Lu Si Yan, the head of the Lu family, unrivaled leader of the nation’s top four families.
Anyone smart enough to survive would obey without question.
The privileged heirs and heiresses, for once, knew better than to make trouble.
…
In the corner of the deck.
Leng Ning was jolted awake by the gunshots. Sensing someone inside her coat, she instinctively loosened her arms and administered emergency aid.
Fortunately, the child had only swallowed some water and soon woke up, his large round eyes brimming with confusion.
And so, the two sat side by side against the deck, big eyes staring into little ones, oblivious to the world around them.
A torrent of memories surged into Leng Ning’s mind. After a long while, her pale lips finally whispered a name, weak and hoarse:
"Chu Wan Ning!"
Leng Ning? What a fateful name. She wondered if they looked alike.
Could it be that her soul had been reborn?
Reborn into the body of a pitiful girl?
From the memories, she learned how the original owner had died, and a murderous rage surged within her—she wanted nothing more than to slaughter everyone on this yacht.
She discovered that this body retained all her former skills. To deal with everyone here would cost her only six pieces of fried chicken’s worth of energy.
Just as she struggled to suppress her fury and bloodthirst, a small, soft, chubby hand curled around her finger.
"Sister!"
A gentle, sweet voice rang in her ear, instantly soothing her wrath.
There would be time for vengeance. She owed it to the original owner, having taken her body.
"Don’t be afraid. Do you know where your home is? I’ll take you back," Chu Wan Ning asked softly, striving to keep her ferocity in check for fear of frightening the child.
"Waiting for my brother!" At the mention of his brother, the child’s face lit up with a sweet smile.
In the distance—
A bodyguard spoke into his earpiece, "Master Lu, Young Master has been found!"
Chu Wan Ning had long noticed these people, but seeing they meant no harm, she chose not to interfere.
The child wanted to wait for his brother, so she waited with him. Leaving the yacht together would be ideal; otherwise, she feared she might destroy the place in her rage.
A few minutes passed.
"Sister, look! My brother is here!" The child suddenly sprang up, clapping his little hands, bouncing with excitement before nestling back beside Chu Wan Ning.
Chu Wan Ning couldn’t help but wonder who could be so cruel as to throw such an adorable child into the sea. If not for the original owner’s chance rescue, not even his ancestors could have found him in these depths.
Following the child’s gaze, Chu Wan Ning saw a tall, elegant man descend from the helicopter, every movement composed and unhurried.
His face was strikingly beautiful, chiseled like a sculpture, breathtaking to behold.
For a moment, Chu Wan Ning was utterly stunned.
As the man approached, the chill he radiated grew ever more intense. The two, soaked to the skin—one big, one small—shivered in unison.
In the next instant—
