Li Beitain’s gaze drifted toward Nan Xing, unable to help himself.

Was she ugly?

Not in the slightest.

On the contrary, Nan Xing was arguably the most stunningly beautiful woman he had ever encountered. Even without a trace of makeup, she possessed a beauty that seemed untouched by the world. It was not that Bo Qijin’s judgment was flawed, but rather that Nan Xing’s disguise was simply too masterful. Had today’s events not transpired, who knew how much longer she would have kept up the ruse.

"Are you done?"

Li Beitain’s brow furrowed, and he was about to hang up the phone.

"Old Li, I have to remind you of one thing. Even though I understand that after bottling things up for so many years, you have certain needs, don't let yourself be trapped by a woman. How do you know she isn't just after your money and status?"

For someone as elite as Li Beitain, there was no shortage of women vying for his attention. The fear was that in such a large forest, one might encounter all sorts of birds. Who knew what kind of intentions she truly harbored?

"Doesn't that just mean I have something worth taking?" Li Beitain’s eyes deepened as he swept a glance toward Nan Xing, a meaningful smile playing on his lips. "It just so happens that I have more money than I could ever spend."

"Uh," out of genuine concern, Bo Qijin probed, "charity begins at home, right? Why don't I introduce you to a girlfriend? But you have to promise me one thing: you must treat her well for the rest of your life."

"Oh?" Surprised to hear Bo Qijin sounding so serious, Li Beitain suddenly became interested.

Bo Qijin continued, "Don't look at my history of endless flings; compared to all the women I’ve known in the past, none can compare to this sister of mine. She is truly a beauty that could sink fish and drop geese, a face that would shame the moon and eclipse the flowers."

The elevator arrived at the B1 parking garage, and Nan Xing stepped out first.

"Since when did you acquire a sister? How come I didn't know about this?"

"Ahem, that’s not important. What’s important is that only you are worthy of her." Bo Qijin choked on his cigarette smoke, coughed twice, and sent over a photo. "Well, Old Li, isn't she absolutely breathtaking?"

Stepping out of the elevator, Li Beitain tapped on the photo. Upon recognizing that the person in the picture was Nan Xing, a profound smile slowly tugged at the corners of his mouth.

It only lasted for a few seconds, however, before he spoke in a vague, inquisitive tone: "What kind of sister is she to you?"

Bo Qijin realized the misunderstanding, but judging by his tone, there was a chance. He drew out his words to explain, "Don't worry, I have no improper thoughts about her. I'm purer than the driven snow."

"Hm." With that, Li Beitain’s expression softened slightly.

"But let me state this clearly: I have to check with her first. If she agrees, I'll see when I have time to arrange for you two to meet. But if she doesn't take a liking to you..."

Li Beitain arched a brow slightly, watching Nan Xing’s retreating figure, and replied lazily, "Do you really think that’s a possibility?"

"Old Li, don't be blindly confident. I admit you’re outstanding, but this sister of mine, she... Hello? Hello, Old Li?"

Before Bo Qijin could finish his sentence, the person on the other end had already hung up. Bo Qijin stood there with the cigarette held between his fingers, frozen in mid-air, truly having nowhere to vent his frustration.

Just as he was about to head to the bathroom for a shower, the doorbell rang. Aside from Li Beitain, he had almost no friends in Beixin, and the only person who came to mind was Xiao Qi. He hadn't expected her to arrive so quickly after he’d sent her his location; Xiao Qi was truly thoughtful.

Bo Qijin tossed his phone onto the bed, fiddled with his hair in front of the mirror, and spritzed on some cologne to mask the smell of smoke. Finished with his grooming, he hummed a little tune as he walked to the entryway.

When he opened the door and saw that the person standing there was not Xiao Qi, he felt as if he had been doused with a bucket of ice water, chilled from head to toe.
