Chapter 9: Celebrating the New Year

At that moment, Su He was tied up inside the car, a cloth stuffed in her mouth. “From what the security guard just said, they’re planning to sell me to a wealthy woman. Damn it, no! Rich women were only what I chased after in my past life. In this life, I want Zhao Lin, Naya, and Beth. If those rich women defile me, how could I ever face Zhao Lin and the others?” Tears welled up in her eyes as she thought of this.
Just then, the car door suddenly swung open. Su He looked up and saw Brother Xiong Da and Brother Xiong Er rushing over.
“(Sob sob) You’ve finally come to save me,” she cried.
“Su He, how are you? Are you alright?” After speaking, they quickly removed the cloth and untied her.
Once freed, Su He looked at Bald Qiang. “Brother Qiang, weren’t you already on the train? Why are you still here?”
“What kind of person do you think I am? Would I abandon my friends and betray them? Even if it’s just this New Year’s Eve, I’d still rescue you all,” Bald Qiang replied firmly.
“Thank you, Brother Qiang. No time to waste, let’s hurry to catch the train. If we’re any later, we won’t be able to catch it.”
“Right, let’s go.”
But as they hurried to the train station, they saw the train beginning to depart.
Seeing this, Bald Qiang ran toward it shouting, “Wait, wait for me! I haven’t gotten on yet!” But no one could outrun a moving train. Soon, the train left him far behind.
At that moment, Su He spotted a pressure cart nearby and quickly said to Brother Xiong Da and Brother Xiong Er, “Come on, let’s use the pressure cart to get Brother Qiang onto the train!”
“Coming!”
“Why? Why am I always the unlucky one?” Bald Qiang lay on the ground, heartbroken, when the two brothers brought the pressure cart over.
Su He extended her hand to Bald Qiang. “Brother Qiang, get on. We’ll take you home for the New Year.”
Touched, Bald Qiang wiped his tears. “Okay.”
“Come on, Brother Xiong Da, put some muscle into it! Brother Xiong Er, don’t slack off!” Bald Qiang stood on the pressure cart, encouraging Brother Xiong Da and scolding Brother Xiong Er at the same time.
“You talk big, but you’re not the one pushing.”
“Brother Xiong Da, Brother Xiong Er, we have to speed up or we’ll miss the train!” Su He urged as she watched the train from afar.
“Brother Xiong Er, give it all you’ve got!”
“I’m using every ounce of strength I have.”
With the two bears pushing harder, they finally caught up to the train. Bald Qiang eagerly reached out to grab the train, but his hand slipped, and he grasped the railing with both hands while his feet hooked onto the pressure cart.

Seeing this, Su He quickly ran over, jumped onto the train, and reached out to pull Bald Qiang up. But the train’s speed increased, and Bald Qiang’s feet loosened their grip. At this critical moment, Brother Xiong Da rushed over and grabbed the railing, holding Bald Qiang tightly. The pressure cart, lacking Brother Xiong Da’s strength, slowed down. Seeing Brother Xiong Da struggling to hold on, Brother Xiong Er hurried over and grabbed his feet.
“Brother Qiang, climb on Brother Xiong Da’s back and get into the train!” Su He called urgently.
“Coming!”
Just then, the train took a sharp turn and threw Bald Qiang off balance, sending him flying through the air. Everyone’s hearts stopped as they watched him soar.
“Whoa!” At this dangerous moment, Jiji Maomao appeared in a police car and caught Bald Qiang just in time.
“In critical moments, you still have to rely on me,” Jiji said, removing his sunglasses.
“We’re going to crash!” Bald Qiang saw the tunnel wall rushing toward them and quickly warned Jiji.
Jiji immediately swerved the car into a nearby forest.
Watching Bald Qiang and the others speed away, Su He quickly helped Brother Xiong Da and Brother Xiong Er climb on.
Inside the forest, Bald Qiang watched Jiji Maomao recklessly driving, nearly crashing into trees several times. Unable to hold back, he shouted, “Do you even know how to drive?”
Seeing Bald Qiang yelling, Jiji shouted back, “Shut up!” and threw his hands up to face the wind, as if saying, “If I don’t know, then I don’t know.”
Caught up in the thrill of racing, Jiji failed to see a large tree ahead and crashed straight into it. The police car split into two, and Bald Qiang slid down the hill in his seat, landing right on the tracks behind the train.
Just as Bald Qiang thought he’d missed the train, a rope suddenly flew over and wrapped around his chair.
“Brother Qiang, we’re pulling you up!” Brother Xiong Da and Brother Xiong Er tugged with all their might. But the chair couldn’t bear the weight and was about to break.
Seeing this, Su He quickly grabbed a large iron pot and tossed it to Bald Qiang.
“Brother Qiang, catch it!”
Bald Qiang stood steadily on the pot. Brother Xiong Da kept pulling, and the train conductor, noticing the commotion from the front, got up to check the rear. Just as he was about to open the door, Brother Xiong Da and Brother Xiong Er successfully pulled Bald Qiang onboard.
“What’s going on? Why is it such a mess back here? The train door isn’t even closed. Oh well, whatever.” After closing the door in frustration, the conductor returned to the front.
Su He and the others quietly slipped out from the luggage compartment.

“Finally, finally we can go home and have a good New Year,” they said, exhausted after all the hardships.
“Yes.”
“By the way, Su He, aren’t you going home for the New Year?” Bald Qiang asked curiously.
“When I was fifteen, my parents had a car accident while driving and never came back,” Su He replied calmly.
Hearing this, Bald Qiang felt deeply guilty. “Ah, I’m sorry, Su He. I shouldn’t have brought up such a painful memory.”
“It’s okay. After all these years, I’ve gotten through it. Besides, I met Brother Qiang and Brothers Xiong Da and Xiong Er. Being with you all has been the happiest time of my life,” Su He smiled.
“Su He, you’ve been through so much. From now on, we’re your family,” Brother Xiong Er said, pulling Su He into a warm embrace.
Everyone laughed happily.
“Su He, why don’t you come to my house for the New Year? My parents have already prepared a bunch of delicious food.”
“No, Brother Qiang. I’ll stay here in the forest with Brothers Xiong Da and Xiong Er. After all, you need to be with your family, right?”
“Alright, that’s fine.”
They lay together, admiring the night sky.
“Friends, the New Year’s bell is about to ring. Five, four, three, two, one—Happy New Year!”
Watching the sky fill with fireworks and hearing the crackling firecrackers, everyone was immersed in joy.
The next morning, Su He woke Brothers Xiong Da and Xiong Er.
“Brothers Xiong Da, Xiong Er, wake up. It’s time to go home.”
“Okay, coming,” they replied.
Before leaving, Brother Xiong Er drew a beautiful picture of the two brothers and the others on Bald Qiang’s suitcase. Looking at the drawing, Su He murmured, “This picture holds the childhood from my past life.”
